Are 2 Nobles ODR-1 Pedals The Same?

I recently just bought a Nobles ODR-1, and also I'm borrowing one from a student, so wanted to see if there was a sound difference. Would there be a difference??

Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro)

I currently have 2 of the mini’s and I had one with the bass cut. They all sound a little different in the same settings, but equally awesome. My favorite pedal!

Potentiometers are typically 20% tolerance parts. They can vary drastically. You just need to adjust the knobs with your EARS instead of your eyes.

This is normal, electronic components have tolerances. resistors 5% to 10%, capacitors 10% to 20%, electrolytic capacitors, up to 40% or 50%!! ...

Both sound good to me. Your one is definitely a bit more bassy and squishy sounding. But when you dropped the drive they both sounded closer to me. I really liked your one when you boosted the drive to 7 though. Sounded chunky. But I do like an overdrive with a bit of squish into a clean amp. Very cool though!

The ODR-mini I have sounds great, but I guess they all sound a little different. Great video!

Yes. I agree Mike. Yours definitely sounds a little more compressed and not quite as bright. I bet you'd have to drop the gain on yours quite a bit and up the level compared to his one to get to a similar sound perhaps. Fun to watch you as always. You make any pedal sound good with your playing.

The component tolerances are what change the sound to a greater or lesser degree. The only way around this is to use low 1 percent tolerance components. These are expensive!. Same goes for amps too. The more components used the more the potential difference

Hi Mike, the ODR-1´s have no serial number. The ODR-1 30th anniversary is the closest to the 90s ODR-1. There are extreme differences in the sound of the old pedals, as the tolerances were much higher back then than they are now. Always compare by ear....best regards from the Nobels team

Compare the pedals at the extremes. I would think, and I could be wrong, that in between the extremes someone could twiddle the knobs to make the pedals sound the same. But comparing at the extremes you would hear the differences of the two pedals. Tom Bukovac did a video where he identifies when Nobels pedals were made.
