We're diving deep into the world of energy drinks. Specifically, we're testing the caffeine content of Celsius Energy Drinks. Are the labels accurate? Do they really contain 200mg of caffeine per serving? Join me as we use High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to find out the truth!
In this video, we'll walk through the entire process, from sample preparation to final results. We'll also compare the caffeine content of Celsius to that of an average cup of coffee. If you're interested in the intersection of science and everyday products, this video is for you!
Remember, science is all about questioning and testing what's around us. Let's discover together whether Celsius is telling us the truth or not.

1. This makes me like Celsius more for not lying 2. Thank you for doing videos like this. It’s entertaining, but it also keeps companies honest which is good for everyone

Here in Canada there’s strict laws preventing this kind of thing. If an energy drink says 140 (which is how much is in OUR Celcius) it absolutely has to contain 140 no more no less or you’ll get in serious trouble. I’ve had some imported cans from America that absolutely do not hit as hard as what the content on the can says. The Canadian energy market goes through RIGOROUS testing. I had celcius at least 4 years before it ever came to Canada and it was the us can for orange and it was majorly weak lol. I drink 2 of OUR celcius’s… Celci-i… whatever forever ago and I’ve been up for a whole day and WISH I could go back to sleep but it seems that’s not an option right now. Want heavy hitter energy drinks with no frills and no lies? Come to Canada then

Quite some time ago I drank Celsius and it was terrible. I felt jittery all day. The makers of this do not know how to combine ingredients safely so that people have just enough caffeine without the jitters. One caffeine source after another is not a smart idea.

Taurine and Guarana was the culprit. Much better of just taking alertness tablets. Actual pure caffeine.

is there a reason not to pre-mix methanol and water as opposed to getting them mixed using the pumps? especially when you run isocratic anyway?
@DavidYazdi1
@DavidYazdi1 Год назад
It's preference. I just think it's easier to have the pumps mix it.

I’ve been drinking 12 oz K-cup coffee of several brands for years which are supposed to have around 136 mg of caffeine. and then one day I had a 100 mg caffeine pill and no coffee….. let me tell you it gave me slight jitters for several minutes and felt a bit more potent than the coffee ever did

Yeah but that’s because you slapped 100 mg into you at once trust me chug about 6.5 eighths of that coffee you’ll be shaking the SAME way. When it hits your system all at once it’s like a whole different feeling

Hi David, could you cover writing a Tecan fluent script - dispense system liquid from a column in a CSv file ( database output ), many thanks Roger. I need to dispense more than the syringes capacity😂😂😂😂😂
@DavidYazdi1
@DavidYazdi1 Год назад
Roger, can you be a little more specific? There is a way to use CSV files to program the script.
@Mindsi
@Mindsi Год назад
@@DavidYazdi1 Hi David, I think I’ll try to explain simple. Import csv database file , convert to ‘work list’ on the TECAN Fluent script ( TFS ), aspirate a fraction of the volume in the ‘ dispense volume’ column, loop x times until correct volume is achieved! So for example it may require 750 ul in the dispense, but my syringes are only ( I think ) approx 150 ul capacity! They bought the wrong machine! This sounds a bit complex, so any pointers will be gratefully received. Many thanks Roger
@yazmer
@yazmer Год назад
@@Mindsi whether or not you use the excel script you can simply ask the Tecan to perform the aspirate and dispense 5x. You don’t even have to drop tips. I’m not sure what Tecan doesn’t allow you to draw in 1ml. Are you using fixed tips? Long green things?
@Mindsi
