I think something worth mentioning with new accounts is that yes, progression is fast on day 1 however since we are 50 days into Season 15 most of the quests have been unlocked. On my newest account I was instantly hit with 30 quests to complete. If this was at the start of Season 16, only 3 quests would have shown up. So a new players experience is heavily altered by when they just so happen to start playing. Im super passionate about Brawl Stars and this video was very well made!

My biggest gripe about the update (besides relying solely on boxes to get star power and gadgets) was not being able to save up boxes for token doublers to use for gold shower events. You’re forced to use token doublers as soon as you get them.

this, i think supercell should replace or convert some of the regular pass reward into token doubler that you can claim anytime. Atm tho i have no problem because i have like 1800 doubler because of my boxes saving, but the moment those run out....

@@_Aidelweiss_ why should you do a token doubler in the brawl pass which required to get with tokens in the first place? If the token doubler is lower than the amount of tokens to get the tier, then its just tokens to get tier - token dubbler = extra tokens to get nothing.

The thing that bugs me the most about the chromatic brawlers is that they are often so strong when they are released and unless they get an emergency nerf, they won't be nerfed untill the next update. In this time f2p people have a 1 in 2 chance of not getting this brawler when it is still very good, while still having to face it. This makes it feel a bit more p2w to me.

tbh, it's always gonna be p2w no matter what they do (If it's a total f2p focused game, the won't make any money) but in the end of the day you gotta admit that supercell made f2p players have a much easier time in getting brawlers and progress and took a huge risk in changing the game in favour of both sides...

This. Exactly. I am a fully F2P account, and with the previous system, once every three seasons I was able to unlock the chromatic brawler right away, but since I'm not interested in fully upgrading everyone at level 11 at super speed, I had like almost every box from the previous update, so on the seasons where I didn't manage to buy the Brawl Pass, I just opened boxes, unlocked the brawler and proceeded. Now, that's no longer a possibility, and if I want a chromatic brawler, I'm gonna have to take it once it's nerfed to hell and back and it's useless.

This I such a stupid argument. They literally changed the whole game to make it easier for F2P. Only people it’s hurts are maxed out accounts like mine. And no they are not p2w there were plenty of chromatics that they had to buff after drop.

As a longtime F2P player, I can say the one thing I’m worried about is getting chromatics in the future. I’ve been kinda used to just grinding to rank 30, then opening all of my old boxes until I get the new brawler. I’m not an economist, but I think Supercell could add an option to get chroma credits as a trail reward-that would make things just so much easier.

You can get cromacredits from daily and you get 600 ish cromacredits from a 1 season so slowly you will be only 2 season delayed

People haven't thought about it till now, when they talked about chroma credits required for newest chromatic brawler during brawl talk I immediately realized unlocking newest chromatic brawler every season being f2p is now impossible.

Just a quick correction: When the brawl pass was released, there were 36 brawlers, not 27. But we’ve had over 17 new brawlers (which is still a lot)

Kairos was my last hope of anyone addressing the fact that completing the road to unlocking brawlers (and thus entering fame road) doesn't help me with the fact I still may have (possibly many) brawlers to maximize. Imho having the choice to convert credits into power points after having all brawlers would be way more sensible than having them going automatically to fame, with no choice.

12:50 probably one of the most under the surface problems that was fixed with this update. Because there are so many brawlers in lower rarities there are so many brawlers that get unlocked early on by new players and it becomes incredibly hard to max a brawler or even get one to power 9. I had no clue this existed, I just have had a main account since global. Really good point, and I thought that the change was better anyways because I have had some really bad luck with even new mythic brawlers.

Just came back to the game about a week and a half ago. I quit for a year, and was playing for about 3 years before that, and I’m very surprised about the changes. In my opinion, this update is amazing. I came back to the game because I saw my friend on a field trip playing Carl and I was like what 😂 he says that Carl is meta now and I new I had to try it. 21:57 I know that wasn’t the case for most people but as f2p that has all the brawlers I was able to consistently get the chromatic the season they were released. I know that was luck but I never had any problems unlocking all the brawlers even if it took until the end of the season. As it is right now i have to wait around 4-5 months to even be able to unlock the newest chromatic brawlers

19:00 you said the current system isn't any different from the old one, that's not true, before the update when you unlocked all the brawlers, opening boxes gave you gold and power points and it ALSO increased your legendary chances (you couldn't see it since you had all the brawlers but it did, this was used by Bt1 for his 1 box 1 brawler series) and when a new brawler was released we had an easier time unlocking him, meanwhile in the current system you can't get that head start no matter how hard you grind in the previous season, you'd have to not collect the tail reward for the rest of the season (not to mention that not every season will have 2 brawlers in which case you'd have no choice other then spending your credits on fame since you can't store the tail rewards for more then 2 seasons)

I love everything about this update (except Chester's first starpower), but I wish they did keep boxes in the game, as a way to get power points, coins, credits etc. Not changing progression, but an almost purely cosmetic edit since I, and many others, already miss the feeling of opening boxes. Oh, I also hate Chester's stun super

One of the things that i hate about this update is that if ur max and you have all the brawlers after finishing the brawl pass ur credits go to fame which is utterly useless for og players ! Why not make a credit bank? Just like gold and chroma credits

My main problem with the update is that it’s not as fun, whenever you saw flashing red in a box everyone was so excited because there was always some chance, some illusion of getting a legendary or something really fun, new or interesting. However legendary unlocks were unfair my friend and I started within a few weeks of each other but they got 4 legs Aries and I got one. The Starr road is fine but they should’ve kept boxes, it’s just more fun. Also I’m massively strapped for coins, I get ~750 club coins per week but still have around 10000 power points that I can’t use because I have no gold.

Hey Kairos, great video like always! My only gripe with the update is that it seems like we can only use star points for skins now. I always loved saving them to get the big and mega boxes. Yeah, it'll take double the number of seasons that have passed to unblock all chromatics, (including the new ones) For example, someone that joins season 16 will not unblock all chromatics brawlers until season 48. Note: I am only assuming one gets around 500 per season, not 600, so it may be more like season 44 bit still...

yeah I just started back after not playing for a while and I have since unlocked all the brawlers I missed including the brand new ones, except all the chromatic ones. So now I’m stuck with 5 chromatics locked and I’ve already gotten all the chromatic tokens available in this pass, but it wasn’t even enough to unlock a single chromatic. Since there doesn’t seem to be any other way to get chromatic tokens, I feel like it’s going to take another 8 or 9 seasons for me to unlock all of them which just feels pointless. Oh yeah and I’m forgetting all the chromatic brawlers that will be released each season. There has to be some other way to get chromatic tokens.

Uh not really. There's 6 seasons every year and if they save up their gems and buy every alternate pass. You get 9 chromatics every year. Maybe even 10 with free rewards for events/brawlidays/brawloween.

Very good video Kairos! Just, as a brawler who is here for 4 years (got the 4 year badge), I think that this update is very bad, because I did get 120k gold when they removed gears and had over 80k gold when they released the update. I did get 4k gold after that one update, but I don't know how, I have 238 gold now on my account. I think they need to buff gold gains by 2000%. I do have all brawlers, but man, that is so expensive. Years ago before the launch of the first brawl pass, I underwent my first large break of the game. This was due to the huge unlucky streak I went on for some months where the brawl box system didn’t yield very many (if any at all) new brawlers for me to play. Kinda felt like I was just getting the 200 tokens a day, and maybe increase a one or two power levels a week. Anywho, really enjoying the new brawler progression system even if I’m maxed out, as seeing your goals can be a great way to maintain interest in the game instead of crossing your fingers every box

At one point I didn't collect the brawlers from the brawl pass and hoped I wouldn't get them from boxes just so I could focus on getting the brawlers I already had upgraded. I'm glad this update came out.

Progression might be unaffected and brawlers may be easier to unlock, but boxes were waaay more fun. Supercell changed from a permanent chance to a permanent grind, and grind is never as fun as opening one box and getting excited about getting the new brawler, somehow. Now getting brawlers also its not something to show off to your friends, but a natural, slow burn thingy that everyone will get through, eventually. In my opinion, removing boxes was a very bad choice to make. It was an integral part of the fun of brawl stars.

At first, this update felt a little bit weird and a small disappointment. I even disliked the new systems in this update and removing boxes. However, I think this was one of the best updates that Brawl Stars ever made and also was very needed for this game right now. I really like the new system for everything except for gadgets, gears, and star powers. With the free pass, you can get about 6 total star powers per season without upgrading anything else and that’s absurd to me Edit: Just hearing about the boost to coins after watching the video and that’s good and all but I still don’t think it will be enough. I’ve got over 40 brawlers without a sp and over 20 without a gadget and more than 50 without a single gear. A boost won’t be enough to save that

I have a couple friends who also play Brawl Stars, they hate every single update for no reason, we argue a lot about it, I win most of the time but they refuse to accept it, your videos just give me even more arguments to use, as well as the tips videos who have helped me become a better player. Personally, I think that they should add more ways to make gold like quests, and they should make the price of gold in club shop less. I’m not really buying any gadgets and star powers but trying to upgrade my brawlers.

Its also better for the possible brawlers to be limited for new players so that they arent completely overwhelmed with information and trying to know how to counter every single brawler, but instead only having to know about the brawlers around their current range and gradually learning about more brawlers as they level up

One thing I really hope supercell adds is a different sorting system in our brawler selection. Before we start a trophy match/during a powerleague match, as a casual player with almost all the brawlers, I get overwhelmed with what brawler to choose. There is a “meta” but I’d like an additional sorting selection to be made based off each brawler type: assassin, sniper, support, tank, etc

Brawlers that spawns turrets or summoned beasts should be able to reuse their super once its charged up not creating another beast or turret when their summoned ones are at full health or still alive. But instead should buff em up like levels. For example: If Penny summons turret and recharge super and uses super again, it should buff turret with extra DMG and Health and maybe bonus shield or sth. Interesting idea, however this probably should be an epic gear or something similar, since if it's baseline, I think it could easily result in the meta being filled with spawners, which might make spawners being considered "no skill" to play

The only thing I don’t like about this update, is that now that boxes are removed there isn’t a huge thing to get excited for in every ten levels in the brawl pass. There is still stuff to look forward too, but they don’t seem as huge as a mega box. I just got so much more excited for a huge box where there could be something good inside, than another coin system.

i personally love this update. i think being able to focus your power points on ONE single brawler is really good. it will help on power league and club league for new players. and chroma credits have been so usefull to me because every brawl pass can actually give you one free chromatic which is kinda sick. AND the credits are just a massive upgrade overall. i feel like brawl boxes were to rng based. there is way too much credits on the trophy road and brawl pass which is really good. the only problem for me is the fact that you cant choose what brawler you wanna start unlocking, which is gonna really kill cursed accounts and bad IN general. BUT OVERALL good update!

I've been playing since global and have that shiny 4 year profile picture in game. I have watched you kairos since I started and I love your content. I have everyone level 9 or above with all star powers and gadgets and am a light spender, however I encountered the glitch on trophy road. I additionally recieved the compensation, so I ended up with Chester, and I'm now close to 3 star global fame already. I know I am a dedicated player, but it still felt a tad wrong

One thing that was not mentioned in this video is that taking away the gambling system there is less hype in unlocking a brawler, as you know which brawler you will unlock at which point of time. You loose the nice feeling of opening a box, then the number flashing in the bottom right and getting a legendary. Those were pretty hype moments that are now gone. Never the less, great video, kairos never fails with his calculations and his argumentative logic. 👍👍👍

The chromatic shop should still have some limitations, but not as many as there is now. The first chromatic you have to unlock is gale and there is no other option. I feel like the first 5 chromatics (Gale, Surge, Colette, Lou and Ruffs) since all of them are pretty different. After unlocking 1 chromatic, you would unlock another 3 (Belle, Buzz and Ash) then for every extra 1 chromatic brawler you unlock the next 3. So after 4 chromatics you have the option to unlock all of them.

Happy that you covered this Kairos. As someone who has been playing since the beta release and has a fully maxed out account, I’m glad that you’re the only content creator that covered: 1. The need to reduce the chroma credit requirement from 1,500 to 1,000 the next season and 2. That it kind of sucks that we cannot stockpile 2 seasons worth of credits. To be fair to supercell, the gear rework brought me from 35-40 Level 11 brawlers to all Level 11 brawlers with 2-3 gears each, which is a massive and generous buff. That being said, the way they reworked the brawl pass is now making it so that us maxed out players can no longer use our resources smartly and get all new brawlers on time and for free. One workaround would be to save the free gems for a chromatic brawler that is broken at the time of release, and use chroma credits for the not broken brawlers 4 months down the road. I understand that we shouldn’t expect paid content for free, but as someone who is fully maxed with 2-3 gears per brawler, I had to spend quite a considerable amount to get to where I am, which is why I don’t think it’s 100% unfair that I expect to be able to unlock paid content fast and for free moving forward, as the only way I was able to get here was by spending considerable amounts on money on the game in the first place. At this stage of the game, I would rather use my $$ on nice new skins instead of being forced to buy more than every other brawl pass.

The big problem about this update is that before, chromatic brawlers and others weren't different, but now chromacredits and credits are separated. This means that for a f2p player that already have all brawlers unlocked, credits seem like wasted on fame while there isn't enough chromacredits to get the new chromatic of the season by saving rewards. The thing is that "normal type brawlers" aren't added very often whereas chromatics are added each season so it is very disbalenced. What I propose is that normal credits can be converted in chromacredits. I know chromatics and other brawlers are made to be separated but it is the only way I found to be fair

I think this new progression system is fairer than before where unlocking brawlers were based on luck, if someone is lucky he will get brawlers faster than a person with less luck, it doesn't matter if any player is grinding more or less. But now, If you play regularly, you will unlock brawlers, which gives us a sense of achievement which is positive( if you play for so much to grind boxes and still got nothing, so you got no achievement actually. But now if you will grind now , you will get credits and unlock brawlers and that will give you a sense of achievement and that would be worth of your time). Its really great that Brawl Stars is receiving positive results, players are coming back as well which is so needed after a very rough time from november last year when gears got introduced. And If we are getting this good updates, you have a contribution which is not ignorable. Kairos, you are really the torchbearer of the community

I waited years for a legendary and got one that I didn't want and also the weakest among legendaries.(its meg) After the update i got the 3 epic brawlers (only ones i hadn't unlocked yet) in the first week of playing. I really can see how everything in this update is for the benefit of all players, but none of it feels that way. newer players have more freedom in how they want to progress and descision paralysis is less likely to be something that turns them off to the game. Both very good things for engagement and retaining an audience in theory, but i feel that because there is now a defined set in stone number that tells you when you are capable of unlocking a specific brawler, it removes that bit of mystery and fun of knowing you could be given any brawler at any time. For older players, instead of having brawl boxes give nothing but gold, theres now credits that can be used for cosmetic glory that newer players can never match you in. fame is not a bad thing at all and I do like the idea of giving a metric by which players can compare how committed to the game they to each other, because its tied to credits, it feels as if you're converting something extremely valuble into something that only holds value when someone other than yourself gives it that value. I do agree with Kairos that this update contains nothing but positives when it comes to unlocking brawlers and everything surrounding credits, but I cannot shake the feeling that brawl stars will feel less fun for me and a few others that share my grievances. For a bit of context about me, i've been playing since the Febuary after global launch. I have every brawler unlocked and i have all but about 3 of them at level 9 or higher with both star powers and gadgets.

Gameplay idea: Adding four short instructions for your teammates that you can preselect for the game (like in smash bros). Like 'Back up', 'Push', 'Pass (for Brawl Ball), 'Pinch now', 'Heal up'. Personally I think there should be a shop where you can choose to either spent your credits towards fame or coins/power points. It still gives maxed out players their opportunity to show their veteran status while helping players max out faster if they choose to spend them on coins/power points. Also they should consider adding a power points for coins option in the shop since the gears refund gave me an insane over abundance of coins and not enough power points to keep up with upgrades

I feel you mate, I easily get a chromatic brawler because I save up my boxes in order to not waste the probability to unlock. However I do find supercell reasoning to be convincing. A brawl pass is a premium content, that's the definition of the pass in most video games. Allowing f2p player to easily access it damage the revenue of suppercell significantly as people don't find the need to spend money on the game. "Why spend money when you can just wait a bit ? Others are doing it just fine". I do find this move is fair in terms of content access, it gave people a significant reason to spend money on real content rather than just slightly faster progression and skins

The Starr Road is great but I still wish they retained a bit of RNG factor in some aspect of progression. Just to keep things exciting and unpredictable. The new system feels too planned out and while is good in the long run, collecting rewards just doesn't feel the same. Maybe a Gadget or SP box could be nice. The RNG will be like Map Maker. It will be fun in small doses.
