Are Covid Unemployment Benefits Making People Lazy

Employers of low wage jobs have launched complaints that they are unable to find people to work since America has started to slowly open back up as a result of shut downs from covid-19. They are citing that people are choosing to stay home instead because they are making more on unemployment. Even if this is true, do we not see the problem with this? No one is truly living a life of luxury on unemployment. In America, if someone is making more on unemployment than they are working, then that's shame on our country and shame on the employers. Let's discuss...

The problem is that when the unemployment runs out it will be beneficial for the employers to low ball their salaries, since people will be desperate with no $$$ Right now is the time to be in a position to demand better wages since the employers are struggling to get employees. People need to be wise and take advantage of their desperation right now. Get the $$ you deserve! My job is experiencing a shortage of medical assistants because many of them get paid low like McDonald’s workers in most regions in US! These people draw blood, blood pressure check, screen patients health history, so EKGs ect and they get the lowest wages in the healthcare industry (also home health aides ect ). Who take care of human beings , not flipping burgers. Most are low income minorities. But the hospitals or doctor offices refuses to pay living wages for these hard workers! It’s horrible but now they are feeling it because a lot are living off their unemployment and not returning to the workforce! Most live with their parents, so there is not motivation or incentive to return to work! 🙄

I’ve lost weight; lowered blood pressure and thyroid numbers; no longer pre diabetic; acne is gone; no more hair loss, or nose bleeds. I dread going back to work, and ,in fact, I’m seeking therapy. I’ve worked at companies that valued the bottom line over people and as ,generally, one of 1-3 black people in finance at these companies, I wasn’t taking care of myself because I was always saying yes and working from home late nights. When I needed to take off for a cornea transplant, one company was planning to let me go because I had “too many” doctor’s appointments, but couldn’t because of FMLA. I found a new job and went back to work 2 wks after cornea transplant with a a significant salary increase, but I had taken steps back in the value of the work I was doing. I was laid off because the role was eliminated. I was burned out before the Pandemic, and wanting to take time off from work. The unemployment benefits have allowed me to focus on my physical and mental health. Im literally just starting to find my way, and I’m afraid of entering back into unhealthy habits and stressful work environment. I’ve been cooking, cleaning, and that’s it. I’m not lazy; I’m healing. I was able to pay my bills when I worked. Unemployment isn’t covering my bills at all! A lot of places are closed for good and I was with my company for 15 years so it’s hard to start over. Especially at what I was making. I live in New York City so an extra $300 is a phone bill. If I could get a job today making what I was making I’d be there right now. My rent alone is $2800. I’m a divorced single mom two boys and one is autistic and I’m in deep 💩 and my son needs me for virtual school because of his special needs. I was going to try Go Fund me but I’m ashamed because I’ve exhausted my savings, had to help bury my dad that’s passed from Alzheimer’s and I’m a Leo so you know we’re prideful. I would love to work from home so I can care for my boys. 😔

Think about it. Unemployment and then you add the tax credit they don’t have to work. Not everyone has some one to watch the kids for free by the time they pay for day care it really doesn’t pay for them to work. I can’t blame the parents . You can’t survive on 10 dollars an hour with kids.

The entire world is a reflection of what we believe ourselves to be, so it’s up to us to decide what reality we want to “see”. The world is yourself pushed out. Ask yourself what you want and then give it to yourself! Do not question how it will come about; just go your way knowing that the evidence of what you have done must appear, and it will.” ~ Neville Goddard Everything happens because of our own assumptions: how people treat us, the jobs we have, our health situation, the state of the world around us, etc., etc. Nothing happens by accident. Nothing. Once we realize (or remember) that we have the entire universe inside of us, and that we have this incredible imagination that literally projects the movie of our minds into the 3D, we start paying attention to our thoughts like our future depends on it (because it does). I think that’s why they rich. 🥺

I'm not collecting unemployment-I've worked thru the pandemic, BUT was blessed to work from home for my state as a COVID-19 Contact Tracer & then a Case Investigator. But with the downturn of new cases, my job will be ending August 31st...I'm looking for another remote position NOW because unemployment will NOT cover my monthly expenses-that or find a gig making passive income... or both.

Ok so here’s my situation: I’ve been working since the pandemic started as a factory worker and when I tell you that these companies are trash. They are trash. They gave us a bag of chips as a thank you gift, they did it. Then they working the workers like dogs, mind you we’re understaffed so you’re doing the job of two-three people. Tired isn’t the word. Then they got the nerve to get mad when I take a day off. I’d take unemployment

Rent is so very expensive in many places. When we lived in San Diego, our rent was $1800. When we lived in Northern Virginia, our rent was $1925. Rent can and eat up a paycheck, not to mention price hikes in rental units every year or so. So yeah, $2000 a month is nothing.

I've worked as an assistant for over 20 years, and not once did my checks equal to the amount that I'm getting on unemployment. It's not that I'm lazy about going back to work, I just don't feel like stressing myself out anymore earning pennies and nickles. I feel these government officials have become real complacent in these positions. They need to come work some of these jobs for $9.00 an hour, 40+ hours a week, and see if they can make ends meet.
