The overall consensus about e-scooters safety is that the scooters are not the problem -- it's the people who drive them. In 2019, Jessica Cicchino, senior vice president of research at IIHS, did a study looking at injured e-scooter rides. She told News 12 her findings concluded most injuries were caused while on the sidewalk.
