That is so relatable. I think this might be one of the greatest unifying factors that we, as Indians, might have. Using those tiny log tables with that fat R.D. Sharma book!!!!

I am used to .log tables back from 7th standard in advance maths. It was pretty hard but interesting. Those questions can b solved by a 7th standard people easily.

6:27 That's true 😅😅 . Just like 7+6=? So we calculate like: Double of 7 is 14 and 6 is 1 less than 7 so addition should be 1 less than the doubled number (14) which is 13. And guess what... we take overall just 5 to 10 seconds to get it. 😅😅

People forget we gave infinity too. Nobody mentions it though. The Rigveda describes infinity in the following verse: sa bhumiM vishwato vritwa atyatishthaD dashangulaM. (Second pada of Purusha Sukta). The interpretation is when the Purusha with his 1000's of heads & 1000's of hands stands up a 10th of a finger is always outside the space that is occupied by it.

I did Physics Honrs from Delhi U and we did not us calc. I started using calc when I joined my first job. My son is in 8th grade and he doesn't use calc for his maths. So it's a big no for calculator in schools

Being good at algebra doesn't mean you are good at maths....algebra is just a small part of maths that helps solving calculations ...thats why calculators were made (to ease that part)...But still i believe india has way many mathematicians who are great at maths beyond algebra....its just that algebra shouldn't be the part to decide someones ability of being good at maths....there are many mathematicians who are bad at algebra...

Come on bro..those kids look well educated..government school or private school dosent matter a student determination is what it takes...dosent matter he is from which country..Indian high school kids solve question like.... If a warship or submarine is coming from speed of given knots... Covers a given distance... What time it would reach on given destination... First we convert knots into m/s or km/sec or whatever to convert.... Sometimes they ask what is the time if it halt for gas filling..... We indians don't use calculator at schools and colleges.. they didn't know to use calculator or will think once how to do it if Suddenly someone says do an integration or derivation using calculator.. my own experience... Will do by our own only....
