Dr has give TNIB 5 mg ( tofacinib) tablets almost a week now. My daughter is noticing more patches and more hair loss. Dr is TNIB medicine good for her hair growth. I hear from people this TNIB 5 mg for arthritis. Can I continue with that medicine

With every drug it is necessary to discuss with the dermatologist the pros and cons. Definitely treatment should be tried, in my opinion

There are no scientific data on this. On the basis of my general experiance with severe alopecia areata, I would decrease very slowly the dose (e.g. every second day etc) and react to signs of disease (re)activation either clinically or in trichoscopy

All JAK inhibitors are currently off-label in alopecia areata. They may be available for other indications, but in every case, these are prescription drugs.

@@SunnySharma-ve3jw I would be a moderate optimist. In alopecia universalis regrowth is only half of the success. The other half is not loosing the hair again. I believe that within the upcoming 5 years there is a chance for new very good drugs for alopecia areata. Also some drugs used in atopic dermatitis may be sometines effective in alopecia areata

It requires maintenance therapy. How long - probably it differs significantly from patient to patient. Even in the case that there is a relapse, it is important to keep the hair follicles working, so that they don’t disappear because of inactivity (for those for whom a future chance for regrowth is important)

There are no data on this. Most probably there is no relationship between ASIA syndrome and alopecia areata.
