Nice to see this comparison! I get a little tired of the "copy" discussions, since none of these companies are doing anything unethical or illegal. There's little new under the sun, and patents expire specifically to encourage competition and choices for consumers.

I like that test, hanging from the screw. Now try the snap-on pliers, The one they did a big promo holding a penny

I have both but those vampliers are better. I got them first then tried all their other ones. I got excited when the twin grips came out. I kept having to go back to my van to get the vampliers. After like 10x I carried the vampliers again and left the twin grips in the van for more grip once I broke something loose w the vampliers. Until the icon pistol grip screw extraction pliers came out. I would get both and after another 10x of using the icons when the knipex didn’t work. I haven’t used the twin grips again they are still in the van tools in case I find an application my go tos don’t work

I think it would depend. The vampires have a much narrower head. They might work better for a mechanic working in tight places.

Any reason to pick one of these over locking vise-grip style plier?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 2 года назад
The biggest reason is because vice grips are clumsy to work with. And these have a very specific design to grip the tip of a stripped out screw
@mikeedwards6162
@mikeedwards6162 Год назад
They both look good apart from those soft grip sleeves which seem to be on every tool nowadays, sure they grip well and are fairly comfortable but they are magnets for every speck of filth and grime going and are not easy to clean.

The vampire extractor pro is way better for this specific task that you're doing. I really recommend them for heavy duty worn out bolts ECT.

I knew in five minutes that the Knipex are better. Neither came up with the original design. The design is almost 100 years old.
