What are your favorite cruiser tires?

I'm an MFG spec-type guy, since the bike Didn't come with 180's it's probably not the best of ideas but there's a lot showing it being done. Since you've had no problems and enjoy your decision, it's good enough for me 👍

Rembo, I see on the sidewalk the Mich Comm III's are a Bias belted, do they come in a Radoal belted version? I'm pleased with the Michelin tire, yet, am looking to get a "Radial" version if I could. Doug🏍️👍

I put 12,000 on both my old Commander II's. Just put on Commander III. The III's really stick. When you lean you can really feel the tires grab. I scrape my motorcycle on a regular basis now. I ride up Painted Cave road: hairpins, twistys and gravel. So much fun and confidence with great tires. My Scout came with Pirelli Night Dragons....they wore out so fast. Its so great to hear from a man who rides Cruisers and Indians. I share this video with my Indian friends.

I have Commander 3's ( Cruisers Reinforced ), on my 1500 Vulcan. The sizes match stock and am very happy with them. Any complaints about vibration / humming disappears quickly as the exterior finish scrubs off. Best gripping tires I've ever had on a cruiser. Going into year 2 on them and wear is awesome !....Can't see any !

Rembo, I'm looking at changing to the commander III tires right at the start. O had a car with the "XZX" tires on it 35 years ago. They handled better than I expected! I'm an auto tech, so, having to work on brakes has given me the opportunity to find out how well other tires perform. They bombed compared to my XZX's, so I know that the commander III's will be a MAJOR upgrade from OEM tires. Doug🏍️👍😎🦅

I'm currently using Pirelli Night Dragon. The compound is very soft for cruiser bikes so it sticks like a sport bike, and it provides very sporty handling too. They are very good, if you don't put many miles on your bike each year, because I think it won't last very long compared to the other brands.

Saw a dude do a bob job on his Indian scout. Raised suspension by an inch, new shocks, and he had Duro Medians. They only had the rear tire, so he slapped a rear tire on the front too and had a trask exhaust. Real nice guy. Looked great and he took it off road almost like an ADV bike.

I have 60k miles combined on my sport baggers, Triumph Thunderbird SE and Triumph Thunderbird Commander. 90 percent 2 up (190lbs. And 125lbs) , very little highway riding. Michelin Commander II rear tires 5k to 6k miles. Closer to 6k on the Commander III. 4500 to 5500 on Metzler 880 and 888. Metzler a bit stickier. All tires are discarded just before wear bar contact. All miles are for rear tire only

Thank you so much for that great review! I have a 2015 Scout Cruiser and I'm looking for a good long lasting tire. I'm not afraid to dump some money if I know I'm getting good quality. I'm not an aggressive rider but, up here in Massachusetts we do have a lot of twisty turnies! Lol! So I was happy to hear that this is not only a tire for longevity, but also good for gripping the corners. I live at the foot of the most popular road for bikes in New England, Rt. 2, The Mohawk Trail, from Greenfield (my town) to N. Adams. Check it out if you're ever in the area, especially when the foliage is turning! Thanks again for the great review and ride safe. Peace!

I got the commander 3s and I feel a vibration when riding even on smooth roads. Michelin needs to get their stuff straight.
@RemboUSMC
@RemboUSMC Год назад
Are you sure it’s not your bike? I’ve had excellent experience with Michelin over the years. There are many factors and I would like to know how the determination was made that it’s the tire. Any manufacture could have just a bad batch or a bad tire, but a blanket statement for Michelin to get their act together is kind of pushing it don’t you think?
@stogie0608
@stogie0608 Год назад
@@RemboUSMC my bike had its 15k service. Fork oil change, oil change, I changed the spark plugs too (overkill but I don’t min), air filter, I checked brakes while at it. Drove it the same day and felt fine as usual. I changed my stock tire then drove it back home and felt the fine buzz vibration on my steering wheel that I didn’t feel before on the stock tires. I then dove into the wormhole that is the internet and found a bunch of posts about customers having issues with Michelin commander 3s specifically front tire sizes. All were complaints about the same issue or worse. Tire was balanced correctly.

I've got the Commander 3 tyres on my Harley Softail Slim 103 (2014 model), but they buzz badly and vibrate badly also. I might have to raise the issue with Michelin and hopefully they explain what the problem is.
@RemboUSMC

Hmmm. I would rebalance them first unless you already did.
@Jonathan-L
@Jonathan-L 3 года назад
@@RemboUSMC I appreciate the suggestion, but the tyres buzzed and vibrated within 50 metres of riding away from the motorcycle tyre shop where I had the Commander 3's fitted and balanced. I wish it was that simple. I'll contact the tyre shop and ask what my options are. In the meantime, I might experiment with the pressure and see if that helps.
@RemboUSMC
@RemboUSMC 3 года назад
@@Jonathan-L Yeah, could be from a bad batch that has thick or thin spots causing this. I am happy I did not have that problem.
@spexsuspend
@spexsuspend 3 года назад
Hi, @Jonathan L did you solved vibrate/buzz issue with Softail Slim? I own exactly same bike and thinking about Commander 3.
@Jonathan-L
@Jonathan-L 3 года назад
@@spexsuspend It turned into a real saga ... Upon having the new Commander 3 tyres fitted, I could feel the buzz at about 24mph, but worse still the front end vibrated above 50mph. The tyre shop swapped the Michelin for a Bridgestone Battlecruise H50, which fixed the buzz but the front end vibrated above 50mph, so it seems that the tyre fitter bent my rim when changing from the OEM Dunlop to the Commander 3. Now I need to find a good spoke wheel surgeon who can true the wheel as best as he can, otherwise my only other option is to get a replacement rim and have the spoke wheel surgeon build a new wheel with existing spokes & hub. The vibration has really taken the shine off the riding experience, because I ride for pleasure, not to endure frustration. Anyway, I appreciate you asking and I hope you don't have the bad luck that I did.

The tread pattern on the front tire is reversed so it appears to be on backwards but you'll notice the directional arrow is going in the right direction. It's just the way Michelin makes them
@victorjbarker
@victorjbarker 2 года назад
they are on correct. front tread is reversed because the only torsion it gets is from braking. the rear tire drives the bike so the torsion is applying on the ground in the opposite direction
