Im with scarra. one time i was playing OSRS and playing as a girl character, i was farming cooking in the GE and a guy came up to me, bought me a house, gave me 200k, and gave me 2 bonds. moral of the story? toast is missing out.

I'm agreeing with Scarra here! Especially for MMO's. If it's a third person game I typically roll female characters. If it's a first person then I tend to go for male characters.

I'm convinced MMOs will come back when VR makes a huge step forward, when it's actually becoming close to a Sword Art Online experience (minus the being trapped thing). I feel that's very far in the future though.

Ok I am a gamer and I live on a farm in South Africa and yes we do have computers and internet 1. My chickens are chill (I was actually listening to this podcast while feeding them) 2. Lilly is 100% correct about how they milk the cows 3. my cats also run around free and super enjoy it 4. I am South African and love my meat so I would never last in a vegan challenge 5. you have boots for a reason you aren't gonna get poop on your feet 6. I am male and run female characters for 2 reasons 1 hitbox, they appear smaller and harder to hit 2 female characters can wear female and male clothes but male characters can only use male clothes (pubg mostly) in other games male or female depending on abilities P.S. I'm with Scarra on the custom characters portion. If I'm going to be playing a third-person RPG and have to stare at a character for hours on end, I would prefer it to be female.

I used to roll male characters when I was very young but one time, there was a high level female character who decided to help me do quests which in turn made me feel attracted to her. But when I asked "are you a girl irl?" She said no. So I asked why are you play female characters, he said "id rather stare on a female ass than males for hours" Since then I started playing most of my mmorpg with female characters, I even used to catfish for items and gold. Basically it was probably scarra who helped me

About the milk: Right after a cow gives birth the milk contains higher levels of nutrients and hormones, in those early days the calf gets the milk to build up an immune system (and humans wouldn't really like the taste). After that hormone levels are lower, and your body doesnt really take in hormones orally in those doses. The whole soy-boy thing claimed you take in estrogen through eating soy which also isnt true (also it isnt really estrogen but a slightly different substance in soy, but I digress), so for any reasonable amount of milk there isnt any measurable effect on you

the mmo genre has been in a weird spot for a while. every year there's this awesome game being released and then once it's out its p2w or terrible or some other weird thing goes wrong so everyone goes back to wow/bdo. it's sad that so many games have potential *cough*Kurtzpel*cough* but end up in the dumpster a few months after their release. someones still making money tho so whatever

About the Cows: I don't know exacty how your Farms in America are, but in Switzerland the Cows arent being milked non-stop, but two times a Day. And they walk in the Roboter all by themselfs, so its not like it would hurt them, in fact its releaving for them. And a cow doesn't have to be pregnant all the time, she produces milk for about a Year after the calf is born without being pregnant again. I hope this helped some of you.

i always play guy (im a guy) characters in mmos. however in some games like ark survival the girl characters have a smaller hitbox so i pick that one purely for the gameplay advantage.

I roll male characters all the time when I was really young. Then when I get older, I started roll female characters. Part of the reason is just trolling, another reason is female characters looks nicer.

It’s a 50/50 for me. I identify with my character and don’t see them as a waifu or eyecandy, but half the time I will pick a female. I almost always make up some kind of backstory for my own sake and have my character act upon the personality I invent for them, sorta like live roleplaying. I must also say I’ve gotten quite a bit of perspective from having other players believe I’m a ”girl gamer” and treat me accordingly...

MMOs will never die as long as good content keeps coming through. FFXIV keeps having me come back because of that amazing story and community. Most wholesome people I have ever met in any mmo. Hell people still play Runescape.....I don't understand that game but I respect the fanbase it has :D huge achievement for being alive to this day.

I played maplestory since day one went through there ups and downs but my life goal was to get to lvl 200 since that was the cap then but now it is 250 but I manged to get one to like 203 and now my life goal as a kid was full filled I haven't played it since then but the game will forever hold in my heart dearly was my childhood.

If you want to see some videos on cows and commercial farms for them there are two nice youtubers Saskdutchkid and 10th Generation Dairymen. They raise diary cows and you can see some of the day to day care and actual milking being done! Edit: ohh and Tom Pemberton. His cows are outside and inside, while the others are mostly barnraised.

Also another setting whose audience would appreciate an MMO: Magic: The Gathering. There was a rumoured MMO that people were interested in then it ended up being a PR fuckup, it is basically a diablo clone.

If they did make a League of legends MMO I would want them to take it slow, and respect their world, meaning start off with one part of the world, e.g. Demacia, and just make it really expansive. When they are done, introduce the next one, Noxus, and just make them look super cool, like final fantasy XII.

I will say this about character creation for MMOs i've found: The more weeb they are the more likely a guy plays a female avatar The more tumblr energy they have the more likely a girl plays a male avatar

25:30 Guild Wars 2 actually has musical instruments in the game that you can play with your friends. You can literally play the notes in game. There is also a guild called CMAJ that organize concerts. they have a youtube channel called Minstrel's Waypoint.

Also for me mmo's feel so lifeless. Like the rpg part is literally cut in half. You play a role,but its a role given to you, you don't make it yourself. Reason I love SWTOR so much is even though it gives you a role, you have a sense of choice, like you're making your own decision, you go at your own pace and it's not just play till you max level so you reach the main content. No the content is right there the entire way way, it's the story, it's the actual world, even though it still feels dead when exploring it, the story gives it some life. What breaks the immersion for me is just the enemies wandering around doing nothing, it doesn't look natural. Compared to things like, the medicre levels of Skyrim where at least Npc's and enemies are there for at least a reason, bandits in their forts or camps, you see npcs on the roads time to time, things like that. I would rather have one fight that had me invested and on my toes for 10% of the time I play, than 90% of the time I fight the same thing over and over with little to no thought.

I'm just gonna say it... guys just pick girl characters more often because they're hot. Go back to the peak of WoW and Linage times and you'd see 90% female characters because of that. And it's still the same even the other way around, im not a girl but im gay (so it's not like I pick girls cause they're hot), just because guy characters are not as well designed in most games or they're designed to be too muscular, bulky, and manly which is not attractive to me or most people who are attracted to men.

Something that I noticed regarding the character gender when I played ranked battles in Pokemon Sword/Shield: Japanese players (with Japanese characters in their name) almost always play as a girl. For players with Western names it is a lot more mixed (maybe even with male being more common). Of course my sample size isn't huge (maybe 200 battles) but during those battles it was definitely very noticeable. Whenever it said "Opponent found: -Japanese name-" I was thinking "another one playing as a girl?" and then it was almost always true. Somehow for Japanese players it seems to be uncommon to view their character as a representation of themselves like Toast does. Something about their culture I guess.

Reacting to Poki's point bout AOC (Ashes of Creation) being too grindy: There are set times where people can do sieges. This way people cant do a sneaky siege while a majority of the enemy players are offline. Also as the enemy player you have obtain a siege order which isn't easy in the first place. Then when you place that order down. All the others get an notification that tells them that the siege will happen in a couple days. Which lets them prepare for the siege

The character I'm playing in a game essentially decides my gender. Usually if I'm playing a mage, i'll be a grand old wizard but if I'm playing a ranger of some sorts it'll be a female. But I feel that I choose female characters more often than male ones for mmorpgs.

19:01 -- what Pokimane said about being able to enjoy an MMO casually... this is ABSOLUTELY true. But you really need to have a quality leveling / skilling system, without the stupid "end-tier" gear that's too OP / has tons of power creep. There is a need for setting up a really good economy, great world building, scale, lore, quests, etc. But like... without having those things, IMO, the MMO genre can't thrive. IMO Runescape got so much right, back in the day.... I used to play that game for AGES and AGES on end. Because each level felt achievable, and there was no class system that made your character locked into whatever skill.

Now that Im thinking about it the US army used to do a lot of ads during my Saturday morning cartoons as a kid and a boat load more during super hero time slots.

I definitely gotta side with Toast I've been playing MMO's for about 12 years and I always roll male characters I feel a greater attachment to characters that I allow myself to identify with which helps heighten my immersion. I do understand the opposite gender argument thought it feels awkward to play as a girl

Going either vegetarian or vegan is a lot of up front work in figuring out what even has animal products in the first place and what good alternatives are, but there are good alternatives. I am a meat eater myself, but my mother is vegan and through her I've discovered plenty of plant based meat replacements that I even like more than actual meat. That said, not everything has good alternatives. Both chicken and eggs are not really replaceable, for example; and while I've found decent cheese alternatives, they're only good when molten. Unfortunately eating vegetarian/vegan is often more expensive and, depending on where you live, eating out can become really difficult. But as a benefit, they often end up eating more healthily just because a lot of the unhealthy options become unavailable. Personally I try to reduce my animal product consumption with alternatives but am not (yet) prepared to change my diet to cut it out completely. My hope is that more and more better meat alternatives come to the market so I can go vegan without much effort by the end of the decade. That said, I've been known to be too optimistic.

I play guy and girl characters in MMO's, just depends on how I'm feeling when I make the character. when I start a new game I'll go with a male model because I can relate to it more, mostly to help with immersion. as I play the same MMO/game more I tend to lean towards making female characters because I get bored of the guy grunts and brawn and muscle etc. It adds a little different of a twist to the same game.

In my first playthrough i always play as a female characters, just because it's easier to find high level party just because you play a girl and i got a lot of options for the cosmetic. And also i think in the first Monster Hunter there's a leggings only for girl characters called pink leggings which had a decent stat.

Both my characters in FFXIV are female, because I like the cosmetic customization better for female characters more than male characters. Female glamours just flat out look better to me. FFXIV actually fits a lot of what Poki was saying at 18:55, the vast majority of its content is based around casual players and there's high-end content for the more hardcore players.

The only MMO I can constantly come back to and always have fun with the grind is Realm of the Mad God. And I believe this is the case because of one simple thing, one thing that I believe is the secret formula, the ultimate 100% replayability guaranteed... perma death. In ROTMG you can spend weeks on a character, doing lots of stuff, stacking him up. But in the end, one little mistake can take all of that away from you in a swift. That's what makes it so much fun. You won't just respawn, no. Your once OP archer that you completed so many quests on and had great experiences with is now... GONE, gone forever, with no way of bringing it back to life. Whats your goal now? Start again. Become stronger, learn from your mistakes and learn to not die like that. Strive for the best gear, the best load out, learn to survive, enjoy the game. If an MMO had great graphics, was 3D, had perma death, had unique hard to get items (that aren't op but very good in certain situations), had great PVP, maybe make it so that you can build stuff. It would be my perfect game. Have the ability to build and customize your own little place, where you universally store all your loot, and where you keep your achievements. There's a wall, a wall of fame. It houses paintings or statues of your best and most powerful characters, that have now passed away.
