Very helpful info. I was told Mole’s are solo creatures. However, I had two separate tunnels. We caught two moles. Now, I had a tunnel come up overnight along my shrubs. It also has areas of small holes throughout. So we are curious to see what we’re gonna catch.
I live in northern Virginia and had a vole/mole issue and I used castor oil. It's cheap and effective. i read that voles/moles are very clean, meaning thay like to lick themselves. They lick the castor oil off, it makes them sick and then they leave the area. I found some of their main tunnels, dumped the product in the tunnels, problem solved.
Having a dog with hunting skills has worked for me. I had no issues until dog got old. Then I had moles for 3 years until getting new dog (pointer mix). No more moles.
These traps work very well.I live in Minnesota.I bought 5. I had moles. My success rate was 8 out of 10 catching those with those traps. The spike ones I had no success with those
I totally agree, I had no luck with the spike traps either. These scissor traps have worked extremely well for me - I am glad that they are working for you too. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your trap tips! I finally bought 2 of those traps and have not trapped one yet, but didn't use the main tunnel from the neighbor's fence line. I spent $$$ and time on poison worms, juicy fruit gum, a few cases of smoke bombs...ugh!!! And all the time tracking moles! Worst if all, in the state of Washington, it is illegal for commercial exterminator to trap moles because "...moles are beneficial for your soil". What!!?? Ugh! That was my first attempt calling a dozen exterminator who never told me why they don't trap moles. I will try your tips tomorrow morning with my traps.
It's so frustrating! I didn't know it was illegal in other states. That's crazy! We have specific companies in Indiana that only kill moles 😂 Find that main tunnel and follow the steps I mentioned, and you will likely nail him. Just be patient, and you will have success! Good luck!
Any advice on a mole damaging a newly overseeded area? Couple days after germination it ripped some little roots and seedlings up :( do I start over? Or just throw more seed down? Thanks
Oh no, that sucks! I would focus on killing the mole before I wasted anymore seed because it is likely they will keep Ruining the grass. I had this same issue in my backyard last year, so frustrating! Good luck!
Ive had really good success by placing plastic straws into the top of the tunnel to see which tunnel they use the most as they will be pushed to an angle and then set the traps.
I use these same type of mole traps on client's lawns and they work very well. Like you said, finding the primary tunnel is key to success with these. Great tips!
I live in Indiana myself and I need to get myself some of that stuff to add to my yard to keep moles away. I bought a couple of those scissor traps and caught a mole the first night. haven't caught another one since which leads me to believe that might have been my only one and its been a week. So hopefully I can start fixing my lawn to make it look better.
Moles are very territorial so if you haven't caught one in a week after killing the first one, you likely got the mole that was causing your damage. One of these critters can wreak havoc on your lawn. I would keep monitoring to ensure you get no new tunnels before you start spending time and money repairing your lawn. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I personally think that trapping is the best way to get rid of voles too. I have had feedback from others that the scissor traps shown in this video have also been effective on voles. The more of them you can trap and get rid of, the less damage they will do to your lawn. Thanks for watching!
A new customer called me to look at his lawn. I have voles at my house so i know what that looks like. His lawn wasnt infested with voles, but maybe moles? He had humps and dips all over his half acre lawn. Anything else it could be besides moles? Im in Pa.
@EdStaniszewski I would suggest to figure out exactly what you are dealing with first. I would contact your local county extension office to see if they could offer any identification help or lead you to more resources. They typically offer this service for free in your local area, I use mine alot.
We had a 125lb Yellow Lab years ago that was a mole killing machine. He’d listen for them moving underground, then pounce on their tunnel in order to pin them in. He’d then dig them out and dispatch them with one big chomp! He completely eliminated our mole problem within a month.
@@K3nny24Do you mean the trap doesn't speing well or you aren't catching them? Beet thing I did was wash mine off and take my scent off of it - that's when I started having success with it. If it won't spring correctly, hitting it with a small amount of wd40 would be fine to get it to work.
When installed correctly, the trap trigger remains snug to the ground so dogs would not be able to trigger it. As long as your dog's don't dig the traps out of the ground it should be fine. The label on the Mole Scram says it is pet safe and will not harm pets when used as directed. Thanks for watching!
