While Nicks maintains the highest quality standards, there are some things that are simply marks of a handmade product. Whether it’s a thread our sewers didn’t trim close enough or a bug bite on the cowhide, these natural imprints are parts of the boots’ story. Many of these “issues'' come when people expect the look of a mass-produced boot. Here at Nicks, every pair is made by hand by skilled craftsmen. Realistically, none of these are real issues, rather marks of a genuine handmade product. When you invest in Nicks, you’ve invested in the best. Nicks Boots in Spokane Washington has been making the toughest handmade boots since 1964. As always, if you have additional questions, check out our FAQs below!

For boots at this price I think it's reasonable to expect the stitching and trimming to be looked over carefully enough that I wouldn't have to trim or burn off extra thread. Some of the other stuff I get. But not having unfinished stitching because someone "missed it" that's just a QC issue
@rightushook8700

@rhythm618

They still have to focus on production. Out of the 100s of stitches they sew everyday I don’t think it’s possible for them to catch every single loose stitch without slowing production. Also it’s not uncommon for the stitch to be laying down or not noticeable until the boot gets moved around. If you ever had to prepare a uniform in the service you’d know how time consuming burning loose thread is. We would spend hours just prepping our service dress and still carried lighters around so we could burn loose threads when we found them.

If you do not like your boots looking creased and bent up in the front while breaking the boots in, just put shoe trees in your boots. The shoe trees will not only help the boots to dry out, but it will maintain the form and shape of the boots, even while the boot is breaking in. For a $600-700 pair of boots, spending an extra $25 for shoe trees is worth it, in my opinion. A pair of Whites, Nicks, Drews, Wesco, or other all leather logger boot should last 5-6 years and will not look all bent up and beat up, if you use all natural high quality shoe trees in your boots.

Some of these sound like excuses for poor quality control. $600 for a pair of boots, they better be close to perfect. Instead of trying to find an adhesive that won’t let go with excessive sweating, you are happy to put the problem at the customers’ feet? Sounds like your customer service sucks. I had cosmetic delaminating with my new redwings and they didn’t try to blow me off. They realized $300 is a lot of money to pay for boots, and happily fixed them at no cost. Every customer should be worried when you have to produce a video to talk about your quality control issues and how they really aren’t issues at all but a fun byproduct of “handmade” boots that we should ignore.

If it so simple why don’t you fix it before it get worn and rolling back. It make more sense to fix it when the leather is new.

That's some hardcore nitpicking... I can understand the cosmetic delamination as someone who is new to boots, but the others... Meh.

. "Bushradical" sent me. Seriously... these "problems" are something anyone should understand, if they wear leather boots This MUST be a primer for someone that's never worn boots before. (Like getting advice on life from your grand pa') I've worn boots since I was 15 years old; so... 30+ years now. You name them, I've worn them. (Dep of Defense, Docs', Danner, Ariat, etc) First time I've heard if Nick's. I'll have to save my dollars and get a set. .

Most are not dudes who are secretly Karens who whine about any little thing I realize that little things like this happen boots gona last 10 times longer then any other mass produced boot if you whine about these little things go buy some velcro running shoes boots are not for you

It is so ridiculous when precious boot reviewers point out that the boots were great out of the box except is so concerned about loose threads and that the boots will eventually fall apart. Which as you point out is nothing - hopefully, this video reaches some of the "Boot Experts" to give them a heads up and a 101 education on how boots are made & what is important...

Its a $600 boot I should not have to repair it! If I wanted to be a cobbler I would buy Wal-Mart boots for $40
@Totemparadox

Then go buy those $40 pieces of garbage. Honestly my cheapest shoes cost $100. I don't even want to think what those $40 ones feel like. You have fun though.

I'm sooooo sad that you guys are in the US. Quite difficult to benefit from the Nicks experience if you're in Europe let's say :(

The sock liner peeling seems like a massive oversight to me. You say this can be fixed with barge cement, why not put that on there to begin with? If I'm going to pay 3x industry standard price for a boot, I don't want industry standard ANYTHING. Not to mention, since you say sweat can apparently cause this issue, what if my boots gets soaked through, which it absolutely will? What other "industry standard" issues will I run into? This kind of casts a shadow of doubt over the entire company for me.

You mean they won't look brand new after wearing them for 3 months? If I wear them for 6 years and order another pair, the new ones won't look just like the old ones? People are amazing.

If a person asks nicks about those things. Those should be common sense to understand those things. They are just plain stupid!

Any time you buy a boot which claims to be "hand made" is when you need to look for an honest company - because NO shoe or boot on the planet is hand made. This claim is also what makes it appear sensible to by a boot which costs twice as much money as it should.
