@@MrStreetninja007seriously, I did a lot of leather, knot tying, and woodworking as a kid. Now I'm on some RU-vid algorithm where I'm seeing nothing but boots, tools being tested by either a guy that is way too excited about everything, or a guy who is obviously an engineer. Aside from that it's politics, and RU-vid trying to stuff a needle in my arm propaganda. So yeah, I've found a strange love for leather in general again, and I've always liked boots. Now I'm like.... Ya know... I wanna make some shoes...

Same here. 1 old dude. I think I'll try and break the ice by offering to pay, and do the labor on some of my own boots I'm not too worried about not getting perfect on my first few times, and keep an eye out for deals at the thrift store, to try and build up enough experience he'll want to actually hire me before he's ready to retire if he does. Sounds like a long shot, but it's kinda A dying trade unfortunately, and a greenhorn can't just start working on someone else's customer's shoes out the gate, then there's the whole part of learning the custom hand tools, and where to get them. I ain't never seen any hammer end knipex pliers 🤣.

Finally received my Builder Pros this week. Day 1, felt absolutely terrible. Wore them off and on through my work shift, 20 minutes to an hour at a time. Day 2, felt uncomfortable. Managed 30 - two hours at a time. Day 3 - feels ok. Still uncomfortable, but not bad enough to need to remove them. Currently 12 - 14 hours into the 100 hour break-in process. If they keep improving at this pace, they'll never leave my feet once they're broken in properly.

Have you ever had an issue with boots squeaking when walking after a resole? I have a pair of your competitors logger boots and after a resole from another boot maker the Vibram 100 sole squeaked constantly. I left them sitting for about year and after wearing them for six months they still squeaked🤔. I noticed some air gaps in the sole when I pushed down on the center and toe tread. With 75% of the tread left I ended up cutting the center tread of the sole, peeled it back, removed the screws and applied some contact cement on all pieces. It solved the problem, but I've never heard of this issue before.

@@Loganedward29 The shaft looks good , but near the first eyelet, just where the quarter ends, there’s a big split, just under the stitching. I have three pairs of Nicks but I wear them only at the office and on small hikes. The oldest pair looks like brand new after more than 3 years. Dust and cement from construction sites are the worst. I thing a simple brushing at the end of each day would probably double the life of your boots, if you’re a construction worker.
