Looking back when you first got the cows, to them running away, look at you now, they're around you eating from your hand, not threatened at all, just standing there. That took patience & persistence.

The fact that Abby is chewing on a cow pie. It’s nothing to worry about. I do think though he’s done amazingly well given that the cattle were effectively feral when he got them. And it will be interesting to see the difference between those of them he has had For awhile and obviously were born on the farm as well. Compared to those he brings in in terms of the way they will do as they’re told when he wants them to move pasture in the spring. I don’t blame him for buying a bunch of bullocks to bring up to cover his beef business.

@@alistairjamesheaton9155 I first noticed when she was eating chicken poop then the blaakh cow poop, maybe she is lacking something in her diet? Tobes doesn't do that, at least not on camera. My George did that one time, at the park, he just rolled in some dogs poo, I was trying not to barf all the way home,, had to put him in the tub, he hated that. Morgan never hides anything, he just records as is.... Raw material 😁💜♥️❣️💌

The way you describe vet visit days "hurting your relationship" with your animals and your treat days as "making up for it" is often called a Trust Bank! Think about it like a coin bank. Every time you bond with them, give them treats and scritches and such, you're adding some coins into the bank. Ideally you want to build up enough that on a rainy day- such as if they need medications, vet visits, and so on- you'll have enough 'coins' (aka trust) to get through it without damaging the overall balance. I definitely think your Trust Bank with the cattle grown a lot over the past year, and it's great to see!

my ducks have a house that is 4 foot wide by 8 foot long by 4 foot tall. during the winter I use straw that gets the dirtier covered parts changed out and a full house cleaning once a month. The days that are cold and the majority of the straw is wet, the warmer the duck house will be. Something about straw makes it heat up when wet

I love the crunching noise the snow makes when it gets really cold. I've hardly noticed the little black calf, the hierarchy matters, since Joey Ramone was the boss of the calves, he was the one who pushed forward, and now little Joseph - who looks like a little cuddly teddy-bear I might add - gets to shine a little bit. He's smaller than Belinda even.

Ah, that plan to get steers to raise up and wait for Randy to be able to breed to have more calves makes sense; I had been wondering what the plan was, since the cows have passed the window of calving in 2023. Just a few questions I had watching the video though: How old is the calf of the white cow though? I don’t know if she’ll be ready to be pregnant when Randy becomes able, and I worry she’ll be too young and will need to be kept apart. And what will you do about Randy and his future daughters? It’s one thing if they inbreed for production of beef cattle, but if you plan to keep the heifer calves for breeding then backcrossing each generation to Randy isn’t good for the integrity of the genetics in the herd.

Laverne & Shirley reference was awesome! It seems like I saw something talking about sand being better than water regarding a heat battery. But it may be dependent on the sun getting on it directly. I get where you're at that the cows being open is okay, but on the other hand, you're just spending money to carry them for another year without the investment of a calf being practically a sure thing this year. They are essentially just really expensive pets for the year. At least you have a back up idea/plan for the year though. We used to pick up random pairs from the auction house and carry them for a year to grow the calf off and then sell them both the next year. I'm really looking forward to you getting the pair from ole boy and for your bull to show up. Should be good times.
