Yes, they are. I was with mine for 32 years 🙁 He was always threatening to divorce me. One day I calmly said "yes, please leave and file for divorce" That must have scared him because he never mentioned divorce again. Had I not finally said "I'm done!" and handed him divorce papers, I'm sure we would still be married today. He once told me it's easier to stay with someone and be miserable because it was better than being alone. I told him I'd rather be alone forever than be with him. The divorce was final in January of 2016 and it still puts a smile on my face to just walk around my quiet and peaceful home that has no fist holes in the walls and broken glass in the windows.

Yes and the longer it runs the more severe the abuse gets.

Yes, as long as they are Kings and Queens in the relationship, and you're willing to put up with lifelong abuse.

So true! I am only now after 33 yrs starting to figure out who I am. Was completely over run in the marriage, had no say in anything, always trying to work around his rage at every little thing, myself and my kids found it easier to just give in or “pick our battles” all the time. Finally had enough earlier this year and asked him to get help. He admits nothing, blames me and wants a divorce. Was devastated at first and now realize it’s actually the better option.

Little Sally Sad-Sack sitting in the corner will turn into a statue of misery, and you wind up leaving them behind because they're too heavy to carry.

I was married to a malignant covert who started showing who he was when he became an alcoholic. I stayed because I have 3 autistic kids. Big mistake. The abuse they saw they absorbed even though I made sure they weren’t abused the effect was emotional. The narcissist can’t laugh, cry, smile, hug but he can professionally manipulate. I had to leave when he started on the grandkids. That creep in the corner is a psychopath and if you stay too long you too will ruin your life.

I was married for 9 years to a narcissist - not really aware of that term at that time, but in retrospection, that was what was going on. So I’m really aware of their behavioral patterns. What protected me during that time was that I was extremely involved in meditation and service, so I had separate sources of joy and contentment, that were impervious to my husband’s nasty behavior. Still, it was quite unpleasant! Since I’m quite empathic, I can now recognize narcissistic energy pretty quickly.

my narcissistic brother has been in a relationship for 21 years. i don't know how him and his partner have been together so long unless his partner is a narcissist too. i do not know the dynamics of their relationship. but he has definitely behaved badly with me with emotional abuse, not respected my boundaries, zero empathy, no awareness, being arrogant and in his own belief system thinking he had an entitlement to abuse me.

I was with her 22 years and 6 kids. Thank God I walked away. We split up 3 times. Each time I went back it got worse. That's exactly what I said in the end. I can't do this anymore I've had enough. I left. 11 months ago. My stress and anxiety was unbelievable for 10 years. God she was toxic. God help her new supply. Thanks for this video. ❤

I wonder how many people watch videos about narcissists and than decide their spouse is one.

There are definitely people who are bound to misuse the criteria for becoming a narcissist and just drywall it on to someone as if they are psychologists. But I think there are an equal amount of people who have been looking for the answer to the many warning signs they have experienced, who finally get the explanation they have been craving. And then, of course there are the narcissist who think they are good people because they lack the self-awareness to understand themselves, and they might believe other people are narcissists but not them. It's a bit of a free for all.

My narcissist husband wants me back after filing divorce petition. He suddenly realized all his faulty behaviors and he believes he regrets genuinely and so I can come back. I have clearly told change yourself and show me and the world. Become the man of my choice, whom I can respect. Then come to me and I might think once again. But nothing before that.

Yes! That’s what they want as long as you keep forgiving as an empath. Once you realize what the person is, you might leave. No we are asking you bcuz we believe that there is no way someone could stay so long and not have empathy, but I realize it is our empathy that keeps them around. See if we keep forgiving and letting things that happen go, they get a free card and do it again by future faking. If we allow them to convene us it never mattered or we were wrong. Once you seriously realize the tit isn’t yiu, you get strong and they can’t stay in a long term relationship if you decide to leave. If you stay. They will stay.

This is so enlightening, getting to know and look inward to myself, about time I get boundaries and know myself and not giving everyone what they want. I was getting confidence and doing recovery, met someone, OH brother, back to old habits and toxic behavior. The psychological abuse put me back into the unbalanced spot I had been in since a child! Thank God for Grace and good council❤

Did you know that psychiatry is the only medical field that doesn’t look at the organ it treats? This means people go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years while their symptoms worsen. Because doctors don’t look at the brain, it means they have to rely on guesswork to diagnose and treat patients with symptoms of narcissist ADD/ADHD. It doesn’t have to be this way. The SPECT brain scans measure blood flow and activity in the brain and can take the guesswork out of psychiatry.

Sorry I got further in the video and wanted to say a small challenge to your comment. You said people who don’t know who they are. Nope not all the time allow me to say I know exactly who I am. I simply am so selfless that I do everything anyways. Cooking cleaning hobbies. And I don’t mind listening (his complaining,) and I love with all I have so lots of touch and affection. He could do anything and I know who I am so much that it didn’t affect me. I saw him as sort of a little off like mental illness and treaded lightly and felt sorry for him. Truly. He comes off as helpless. And I boosted him up needing an alpha. But as time has went on I’m super exhausted with the fight picking and have become so tired of giving with out getting and his fits have gotten so so much worse. So I asked him once if he was a narcissist. He looked it up and hasn’t been the same. He is vulnerable now and we are no longer close. Just like that. So sometimes it is those who are very confident and feel bad for the other. But he has me now in a place where I no longer see him for wha to thought. I am now in fear and so is he. I can’t I see him for what he is and he knows I know. Just helping. Oh my you are. Orrery about getting you younger and as we age we see it more.

I believe I was with a covert narcissist who I broke up with some days ago. I was with him for 4 years. How can I be sure? He called me a narcissist, since then I started questioning my own sanity and now I feel probably he was the narcissist. Worst thing is It was a long distance relationship and we would see each other every 3 months, so I have no idea if he is cheating, but I have a gut feeling he is now after 4 years because he changed completely. IS IT POSSIBLE TO FULLY RECOVER from a NARCISSIST after many years, and then live a happy life ?
