Are Necrotects Any Good in Patch 5.2? - Tomb Kings Hero Unit Focus 

One of those heroes that are more useful in an army than on the field. Probably the single most important hero in the game. Even if he never personally kills a unit, he makes your keystone unit sing.

Very important Hero for TKs. I would give them a Tomb Scorpion as a Mount. That would make Necrotect an armored character with Armor Piercing damage, addressing their greatest weakness- squishiness. I would also give them at least 3 uses of Restore to give Constructs more longevity.

I just wish necro tect has an alternate mouth like necroserpent or shpinx. The charriot is not easy to maneuver. And TK lacking a monstrous mounts for heroes, unlike lizardmen.

They were excellent in the campaign for Warhammer 2, Boosted campaign movement speed. I remember there was an event that let you choose between a necrotect, a tomb prince and a lich priest. I always selected the necrotect. Not because it was the best in battle, but because if you had one in your army, you could perform a rite that would bring any settlement to tier 3. I always destroyed Khemri and rebuilt it to tier 3 at the start because the growth for tomb kings is so slow. Going back to the movement speed, The necrotect boost, the defeat trait for tik'taq'to and campaigner would give settra INCREDIBLE movement. Truly allowing you to zip around the map as the chariot king should, great for painting the map.

The desert sounds more appealing with each video that you put out.

5:56 every unit can only be effected by abilities and spells with the exact same name once at the same time. This is for active and passive effects and the only thing that matters is the name of the ability. So while for example the nurgle sorcerer hero and the exalted great unclean one both have a mortis and are different units causing the effect the mortis is the exact same effect so it will only effect enemy units once even when you stack them on top of each other.

The strategic map movement bonus makes them really important for TK who have limited armies...but they're so unsatisfying to use in battle. They're so squishy that they're more a liability than an asset, and TK get regular post-battle item drops at a reduced rate so it's hard to buff their melee defense past what the yellow tree gives you, which is not much.

I do wonder if Cathay will get a version of these guys in their next DLC. It makes sense given how good this fellow can be.

The hardest part about that hero, not make them die before they are immortal, because i often forget that only the lord of the tomb king are, not the heros

Almost forgot- what about Vambraces of the Sun- imbues Flaming damage and give -22% to flame resistance. The best item that a Necrotect can get. Is that another Multiplayer only option?

these guys are actually better in skirmish/MP for a change (since it seems to usually be the opposite). they have the bracers of the sun, and a potion with a single use. the potion gives huge attack damage to any unit you want to use it on. putting it on khepra guard or some other fast-hitting unit or high damage unit, construct or otherwise, is delicious! the bracers give a debuff to the whole unit of any model they strike in melee making them more or less unable to really hit back. dunno if campaign allows to get those for them, but in those settings they make the aformentioned non-constructs do a LOT better, as well as make the constructs do nagash's work.

I painted the map on VH/VH as Settra a couple months ago and found these guys to be way too flimsy. I would send them into combat with my constructs and they would just get mauled by the nearest enemy unit, no matter what it was, or get goon squadded by the enemy lord. Once I had tons of major settlements I felt like I got way more value out of just having another scorpion or kitty + a lord with the maxed out red line versus keeping this scrub around.

These are a really weird hero. They have more in common with a wizard than they do a fighter, but their "spells" are just sitting next to statues and making them not dead. They... CAN fight, but much like a wizard, if it's not to drive off fleeing units, tie up archers, or because it's dire straits and the Necrotect is all you got left, they really should be keot out of combat, or else purely cycle charging if on the chariot. I don't really like this hero archetype to be honest. Engineers pull it off because the stationary and predictable nature of warmachine armies works well for it, but these guys, pack masters, and, I'm sure there's one or two more I'm forgetting, "engineer but for melee units" archetype heroes, just kinda underperform. You take them out of desperation in Tomb Kings at first, and then eventually because your best armies are like 75% constructs anyways so why not, but, they don't have the power and safety of wizards or engineers to offset the vulnerability and lackluster combat they have, and can be pretty mediocre as a result. Could be worse, though. The chariot version is... fine, for tomb kings, and you're gonna be bleeding every drop out of your starter constructs anyways, so, they're rarely going to go unnapreciated. I'm hard on them mostly 'cuz the bar for characters SHOULD be a bit higher.

Basically hot garbage in combat, but those buffs are damn good
