I’m not sure exactly, I’m thinking of a few things but I don’t know if they would look good irl or just in my head cuz I’d have to see them but I think mayyyybe some boots instead of trainers, and a leather bag to match the trousers or the boots, shiny gold jewellery would work really well with the white and beige but i can’t really decide where yet, maybe just simple earrings and a necklace and maybe a belt on the trousers and tuck the shirt at the front so you see it, and perhaps unbutton the top shirt button, but tbh, I also like it as it is, so maybe we just have different tastes, I like monochromatic outfits
@@Ellbat @aminaa5824 joining in here to say that I LOVED the beige outfit but agree you just needed the details to really sell it. I'd say the beige was very scandi, like matilda djerf inspired! Like if you add details like a cool bag, sunglasses and maybe like a fashion magazine or flower bouquet in your hands (+ some dainty jewelry with maybe chunky earrings?) that would look amazing!!
I felt a problem with her outfits was that it didn't work with her body and were very faded in color. It looks improperly sized and old, obviously that she's wearing cloths and not styling an outfit. The third outfit looks her best pre-transformation, but its not anything special or eye catching. You could be in any office job with that one. Considering the whole point of working there is to also look like you dress like the magazine, it doesn't work for the job.
main issue was fit. most of her clothes looked like they used to belong to someone 2 sizes bigger than her. you can rock any outfit as long as it looks like it was made for you. Thats why the outfits look good on Elbat. they are her size (except the last one, which is all the wrong sizes and it looks bad xD)
The first outfit looks good because its a much shorter skirt. Most people look awkward in knee lenght skirt, ifk why. Anne looks like a rectangle with no defined lines and the skirt kinda flares out so it just gives her a very strange shape, whereas your skirt is much shorter, meaning it is much more balanced. And the skirt is tighter, and a lumpsy too + tight bottom is a very good match usually
I didn't remember there was a second love interest so when you showed him on screen my jaw dropped and I went "THE MENTALIST IS IN THIS MOVIE!?!?!" Like gosh darn they got all the actors!
I'll be so honest, I think you actively made the first outfit wayyyyy better. Even if it was an accident. The blue of the skirt matches the cerulean jumper better compared to the brown grey skirt she had, the little bit of white shirt poking out under the sweater gives it a less stuck up vibe, and the tights being stockings and not thick af socks makes it a little sexier. The rest i think you did a banger job on and agree 100%. outfit two is horrible in the movie, no saving that. Outfit 3, I'd wear that no lie. Both the knee length and the midi. outfit four are pjs, they seem very comfy, who wouldn't have that to lounge around in. Outfit five, yeah no it was bad in the movie. I remember watching it as a kid and hating it even then hahaha.
Oh for sure the skirt helps! It looked a lot longer/less shaped on the seller but I forgot I’m 5’9 and she defo wasn’t 😭 BUT the white shirt sticking out is actually based on the image of this outfit I originally saw which is now the thumbnail (also at 07:05)! Andy did that all by herself the little fashion icon💅🏻
I think this actually highlights something really interesting about fashion, that the chunky sweaters that trickled down to the bargain bin are simpler so they don't change as often or as drastically, while high fashion has way more detail and thus more elements to become outdated. Does that make sense? Anyway the biggest fashion crime of 2006 was those damn hats. You know the ones
This was SO much fun! I think you could make the all beige look if you called it Parisian Girl style and had a red lip and gold jewellery with it. Can we have another of these? She's All That? Never Been Kissed? Iconic glow up sequences which I was never sure about.
I am so glad you found the “love interests” lacking, I always couldn’t stand them and wondered if I was alone! 😂 Fun video as always, and I agree that regular day-to-day fashion often stands the test of time better than what is “fashion forward” and “high fashion” for its time!
Honestly the people hating on her clothes need to realise different people like different things, ok ur in the fashion industry but she wears what she likes and that’s what matters, it doesn’t need to be IN fashion
I have to disagree. It is naive at best to think image does not matter in an image-based industry. Andie's outfits were fine, but fine is not good enough when you are working in the top echelon of fashion. As Miranda's assistant, Andie would be in a position to be photographed, attend high-profile events, and represent a magazine that represents the most refined taste and style. It is perfectly reasonable that Andie did not get more public opportunities until she looked the part. Having cutting-edge style was actually necessary to do her work effectively.
@@AstraeaAntiope i get what your saying, I didn’t actually think about that but if she’s going to be seen then I guess it is pretty important to dress up, I was only thinking about the day to day office work when she’s sat at the desk because that’s what I remembered from the movie, but you’re right
@@aminaa5824 She is sat at the desk in front of the chief editor, where all the designers, photographers, models and other celebrities will have to go to see Miranda THE voice of fashion in the biggest fashion magazine at the time. She is basically Yoko Ono in that the Beatles with Chuck Berry, but even worse. If you don't believe that fashion is a form of art or a proper industry and you are unwilling to show it the most minimal amount of respect then just don't be there. Entitled and disrespectful doesn't begin to cover it. Especially since it is probably one of the highest social currency (and maybe even actual money) job positions of the entire magazine. I dress very similarly to Andy pre glow-up and the first thing I noticed is that none of her clothes fit correctly and that the silhouettes are wrong all over. For example one of the reasons the blue outfit worked better here is because the sweater actually fits her, the shorter skirt without the awkward flare fixes many of the proportion issues and the darker contrast of the black stripes makes her look less washed out. Same with the length of the black skirt the flattering silhouette" she talks about literally isn't there in the OG Andy's skirt is shorter above the knee and cuts off the flow of the fabric. You can absolutely make her outfits read more fashion if you have fashion in mind, but the whole point was that she didn't fully understand it, yet felt she should so she resorted to say she didn't care, it was a front to protect her low self esteem. When you genuinely have actual ethics/moral based criticism against an industry, particularly as a journalist you also have the back bone to not be caught dead mingling in it. Andy had everything necessary to become a fashion girl as long as she stopped hanging on to her hypocrisy of wanting to be accepted by the fashion crowd without putting in any goddamned work.
@@sofia_c_1 like I said to Astraea, I hadn’t seen the movie in a while so most of what I remembered was just her doing office work and I forgot that she was seen with the boss a lot, I agree she should dress up
@@aminaa5824 Hi I am sorry, I commented very early in the day and went on a full Andy is a hypocrite tangent in my comment so it was absolutely too much but what I meant is, that even when she spends time in her desk it is probably the third most important desk of the entire company (after Miranda's, the head and the reception, the face) and despite this she was putting basically none of the expected/necessary effort in. I was only criticizing the character... Sorry for the rant 😔🙏
I was drinking water when the “Nate in a blond wig” came and I almost drowned myself laughing 😂🌊 you are so funny Ellbat. And the accidental tart comment 😅😂
That "my darling" just gave me such an Astarion flashback, I'm clearly not over BG3 anytime soon. But also great video as always!! I'd look like a toenail in half of those outfits, gotta be honest, but you serveddd! 💕
1. That picture was great. It just needs a hazy darkened border around it, and amber color grading-make it retro! 2. I like to think of Andy's 'before' outfits as "Vintage/Retro Women's Ivy League" or "Vintage/Retro Women's College Style". They're 'take me serious, and I'm hardworking' in a dated way. 3. The combo with the boots, the original outfit works because of the different textures of nubby juxtaposed with the leather and sleek shine of the sequins. Your items lacked the right texture to make it work. But consider that when you shop and put together outfits
Andy’s original “ugly” outfits are actually a really good canvas. Add some jewelry, bags, maybe a different hairstyle - and voilà - you got a nice stylish outfit
I love this movie and have watched it twice this year probably because I love Anne Hathaway. Your outfits, your hair was wonderful! I knew there was a reason I subscribed! British accent, brunette, smart, intelligent, and ravishing woman! Yes!
This was a super fun video! This film was iconic and your looks were amazingly well done haha And the new place looks nice! It has nice light at least haha, but glad you've finally got somewhere to settle down
I think you made the first outfit a lot better, the skirt is definitely giving. I didn’t hate the beige on beige one and the last outfit could work if the skirt was darker and the white on the blazer in not as thick stripes. Great job with the video, I love when you make fashion videos 😊
I actually love the second outfit the most! Would definitely wear it myself. Also, the first outfit looks sooo good on you 👌 Definitely agree with your view on the wearability and fashionability of the so-called “bad” outfits from the movie
I think you could have found the first skirt and last skirt through Chicwish or modcloth. During my cutesy but bookish phase and for work clothes before the pandemic, I liked wearing stuff from them. It’s kind of like the early 2010s never stopped with them. Also I love a sweater (I have a white Ralph Lauren one) with a button up under for work 😩 maybe my age is showing lol it’s one of my winter work outfits. I usually pair it with some black jeans (Levi’s Ribcage straight or cropped ankle) and some loafers or boots.
Elena grabbed me by the wrist and violently dragged me in front of the tv to watch this movie for the first time in 15 years as soon as I watched this video
Here’s the thing: her outfits are mostly ill-fitted. So if you focus on the colors and patterns only and get clothes that are well fitted, you’ll solve most of the outfits’ problems and they’ll actually look good. 😊
