○Are PhD programs fully funded? Well... I always assumed PhDs were ALL fully funded. In fact, for most of my life, I was told that PhD students don't have to pay for school and that all of your PhD program financial needs were covered!
But when I got accepted into a PhD program at UCLA, I realized that may have been one of the BIGGEST LIES ever told about grad school! So today, we are getting into the TRUTH about grad funding! I've talked about it a lot on my channel, but I started grad school with no funding or financial support and even had to take out student loans for my first year! But with that being a reality, I have technically become a "fully funded" PhD Student. It wasn't through grants or stipends, instead, I am working to pay for my grad school. And because of all of my work, I am able to afford to get my grad degree...Which means doctoral programs are funded in the US in a way that's a little more complex than is your grad degree funded or unfunded... Hopefully this video can shed some light on the age old question... "Are PhDs Fully Funded??" And what does fully funding your PhD even mean?
