The definition of a watch is: a portable timepiece. A timepiece being a "small device that tells the time". The definition is based on what the watch *does* _not_ what it's technological contents are. Hell, even a _sundial_ that you can easily carry around is technically a watch!
I had a Withings/Nokia steel HR which i liked because it was anologue face with a small oled screen with smart watch fitness functions and was my style preference. It also lasted a month between charges. It was a PITA as it came with a cheap plastic crystal and was a sealed steel unit. Once the crystal scratched and then cracked that was that! Also couldn't even set the time without the app on phone. So looked anologue but not even basic functions were available without phone tethering. Frustrating!
