I bought these same insoles 4 years ago and they've been worn in most of my snowboard boots and shoes since. You're right on them being a great investment. They're really comfortable and show no sign if needing to be replaced yet.
Awesome video man! A few years ago I bought new boots because my old ones packed out. I then took them to Japan and about after a week I had rubbed the worst blister I've ever had. I was also getting really bad foot pain and it was unbearable... Once I got back home I bought a pair of insoles and I've never ever, ever shredded without them since! Made my boot more comfortable, more supportive and I can ride all day without pain. Best thing I ever did!
Great pro tip! Actually not just for riding boots as you pointed out. Last year I bought quite pricy orthopaedic work boots but felt like they weren’t very good. My next ones I got just cheap from Kmart. After couple of days wearing then I felt really tired by the end of the day. So I bought a pair of insoles and man they make a difference! Thanks TJ for your great vids! Enjoy Aus
The funniest thing - my experience was the opposite. I bought some new Burton boots and the buy who sold them talked up the insoles so I got the top Superfeet ones. I wore them for years and never realised how uncomfortable they were until one day, I took them off and the boots were magic! Different strokes I suppose.
Maybe you got the wrong model for your foot. Or maybe your feet simply didn't need more support and led to having too much structure and not allowing your foot to move the way it was supposed to.
I remember you saying you left them behind, sucks you ended up with pain - but great advice! I lasted only a few days in my new boots this year before I was thinking the same way. I was cutting my days short and not progressing as much because my feet were so painful! Splurged a bit on some custom footbeds and they made a world of difference! The money spent I definitely would have wasted with early days or not riding otherwise.
Bought some Footprint Gamechanger insoles recently. Heat them in the oven at 225 for 8-10 minutes. Throw them in your boots, put some socks on and get a custom fit. Feel amazing in my everyday shoes. Cant wait to ride with them. Def had me asking myself why didnt I do this sooner.
I found that I didn't like the in my hard boots, but they're great for soft boots. They do a low-volume version too, in case you're a little tight in the toe-box. For reference, the standard ones are about 5/6mm thick.
Absolutly recommended! I also use sidus high arch and personally I would not be able to spend 6hour+ days on snow. Factory insole just don't have that support
Bought these yesterday in UK. Make boots really comfortable and snug and stop toes pushing forwards as arch of foot compresses. Got mine in Snow and Rock Birmingham where they moulded my boots also as I have large bunions.
Highly recommend nike zoom force 1 boots. Hands down the most comfortable boots I've ever worn with amazing protection. You can probably still find them online
Awww mate, you need to get yourself a set of custom moulded insoles....treat yourself !! I got a set done in resort, in France (so normally bloody expensive) for only 50 bucks !! In fact, it would make for a good vlog, film the whole process and post it here 😁
Custom footbeds are definitely the best option but in my experience they start at $130 and can be as much as almost $200! thats awesome you got some for $50!
Hi David. Do you mind sharing how you use the added insoles with he Burton step on? Did you add the insole under the Burton liner? Inside the liner? Or something all together different? Thanks
@@BoardArchive I think that it's a good investment from the start, especially with the risk of accidentally buying ones with a too high/low arch for what you need.
The inner sole that came in my new nitro ventures wore flat after 5 days had to pack heal with cardboard to stop the ankles rubbing, for remaining days, ganna invest in some new inners
I rode for 6 days in new boots and the outside of my right foot is completely numb to the touch Really worried I have done permanent damage to nerves of something
Bit late. 🙈 Check that you don't ride with your bindings too tight and/or bottom part of your boot lacing too tight. I get this sometimes too, along with pain in the balls of my feet in the first few days of riding.
Have you went without insoles all these years to mainly get the smallest boot size possible & more board feel? I read an interview years ago from I think it was Seth Huot who said he never used insoles & that was why, he did it mainly for rails & what all ever but you obviously trade off cushioning & support for more feel. Also, I think his feet were on the bigger side & he wanted to ride normal width boards, so it was what it was, he went with it & did it for years, even as a pro, day in & day out. He's probably paying for it now though & wouldn't recommend it...,
No I just never really considered it until I started doing boot fits for people, I would just use the standard insole that comes with the boots. Supporting the bottom of your foot is a game changer though and makes a lot of sense if you think about it.
@@BoardArchive Oh, well in the video, you make it sound like you weren't using any at all, like you were taking the stock ones out and going completely without them, that's what I was referring to. You should probably clarify by saying you weren't using any replacement or aftermarket insoles, if that is indeed what you mean. Anyway, keep rippin' dude, you're pretty dang good! 👍💪 🏂
I'm looking to get new insoles as well. I have horrible aches and numbness in my feet. Are these ones different from when you guys got custom molded insoles? Cheers!
Hi TJ love the vids! Slightly unrelated question, but I am 5”11 195lbs foot us11. I am split between Capita mercury 157 and 159, which one should I go for for mainly charging around groomers and no park.
Hey TJ....I have the same issue with my left foot really hurting aftrr just a couple of laps. (Regular rider). Silly question, but do you take out the original insole from the boot before you put the new insole in?
I got them at this shop called Alta, it was the only place I could find in queenstown. I've been really happy with the Sidas insoles but I also like the Remind insoles, haven't tried them yet tho. They have some cool designs
The ones I got came in S/M/L with size ranges like 6-8, 8-11. I just grabbed the ones that suited my foot size and then cut the toe area down until they fitted into my boot without curling or creating a lump in the middle. I'd cut them the smallest amount possible and just keep test fitting until it fits perfectly.
No I would stick with the proper boot size for your foot, the insoles just help support the bottom of your foot and make the fit better. They are made for multiple sizes so you may need to trim them down to fit in your boot properly, but there are cutting guides on the bottom of the insole to help you with that
The velcro that holds the arch support in place actually delaminated very quickly on mine so I wasnt able to use them. I ended up just using Sidas footbeds in them
If they are comfortable then you don't really have to worry. I would say that a footbed would probably just snug up the fit a little more and give you a more stable platform to stand on. you can take your samba footbeds out and stand on them on the floor to try to feel if there is any space under your arch.
