Well he actually was in the top 4 in the post season in 2023. Also only Jackson, Purdy, and Prescott had regular seasons equal or better W-L. Offense is 🔥. Sleep on Goff and his teammates to your own peril. You (as a non-Lions fan) should worry about the Lions defense because that’s where big improvements were made. I'm a little surprised more people (or any) don't have Detroit ahead of SF. Ahead at half in the NFC championship game by 17... in SF. Epic collapse. But Detroit got ALOT better in the offseason. Detroit's the only team PFF gave an A+ to for the offseason (FA and draft). Not that PFF is the end all be all, but I haven't seen a grade below an A for the Lions offseason. So many great players on rookie contracts. I'm a Lions fan, so I'm biased, but really... Is it just out of respect for SF?

People forget that the Lions were one of the youngest teams in the NFL last year, with little playoff experience, even the coaches. Almost no question that factored into the collapse, on the road, against the most talented team. I haven't heard anyone bring that up. Should they make it back, having been there, they'll be a lot better.

Dan Skipper has proven to be serviceable as a back up tackle, but if there was a weakness on the offense it is depth. You could even point to back up QB. Sudfeld hasn't shown he can come in and manage any games and we haven't seen a single snap from Hendon as of yet.
@johnboehmer6683
@johnboehmer6683 Месяц назад
Yeah..... Skipper.... serviceable, mmaybe. Against a playoff team, or an elite edge? Maybe not. Backup tackle is a concern. Hopefully the giant kid(Manu, is it?) we drafted will at least live up to potential for next year, but too much to ask that he be good this season. But we DO have a great line coach, not impossible. I'm 80% confident Hooker can come in and play some good QB if needed, especially with a great run game, and great line.. For whatever reason, QB's don't need 3 years to come into their own anymore, most do well in the first year now. And, he's had that very advantageous learning experience in his first year. He was projected as a late first round pick. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him do well in preseason, really looking forward to it.

If the Lions don't win a SB, I think Ben Johnson comes right back again. His wife loves it here, and that's a huge part of his decision 😂 Also I think DPJ is better than Raymond. Idk why people think the Lions need receiver help. Jamo is going to break out this year with a full offseason and he played phenomenal through the last part of the season. Loves to BLOCK, which is a requirement for all Lions receivers, and he's as fast as it gets. Starting to become a legit route runner too. Sam LaPorta is going to be the best TE in the league very soon, if he's not already. The Lions 2023 draft class was the most impactful set of rookies in the NFL by a wide margin. Another brilliant draft in 2024, and I believe the Lions will have a top 10 defense this year.

About Aggression, the Lions won the first playoff game going for 4th and goal, They won the second playoff game going for 4th and goal. If they were conservative, they most likely lost both games.

Yea but it lost the game to SF. Why? Instead of just going for it why not a fake field goal? Against a really good team like SF maybe something a bit more creative would have paid off. I can’t get behind DC in that game. It failed twice.

@@righteousisthelord180 The play they ran had about an 80% success rate chance. It was a perfect call and a flat-out drop. A field goal would have been no better than an 80% chance. Not to mention you lose 8 yards on a missed field goal.

If Dan Campbell didnt go for it when it was time to go for it, then we dont make it in this league. I love that he went for it everytime he could. Goff and the entire offense has been amazing. With a safety and cb room packed maybe those fourth downs are not going to happen as often

goff isn't that good man, extremely limited, great at what he does but that's pretty much just throwing over the middle and timing out routes, he's the 16th best QB

No. You can't be "great" at throwing over the middle, "great" at timing routes, and be just 16th best. Those two things are 75% of the position. Short routes are another 15%, and he's great at that too (though of course most are). Great pocket presence, and making smart decisions with the ball. It takes extreme accuracy to consistently nail timing routes. You can't pass for the second most yards in the NFL, complete 67% of your passes, finish top 10 in almost every major QB stat, get sacked only 26th-most, have just the 16th-most INTs (despite having the second most pass attempts in the last two seasons), have the second longest streak of pass attempts without an INT ever in league history, put up a 103.3 QB rating in crunch time (3 playoff games), and still be call the 16th best QB in the game. Ridiculous. People try to say it's all about the talent around him. Detroit receivers had the 5th-most drops in the NFL last year. The Oline starters are elite, but generally considered 5th best. But it's been a patchwork line almost the entire time, one or two of them out hurt almost every game. Goff can just flat-out play the position. He's in the 6th to 8th-best range.
