According to UNESCO, Just 30% of the world’s researchers are women. According to All Indian Survey on Higher Education 2018-19 statistics around 60-65% girls clear post-gradution,but only 30-35% women get into PhD.
Why is that so?
To answer this and more questions today I am in conversation with Dr. Aishwarya Pawar, PhD Computational Biophysics.
Chapters;
00:00 Introduction
01:12 what is being a woman in research or PhD?
02:57 Are there any difficulties in Research?
09:04 issues being a women in male dominated research environment
13:09 Roles and responsibilities of a family
21:47 Advice to women who want to pursue PhD in future

A computational biologist will say it can be easy to do research. While do consider where you have a timepoint experiment ! This wrong that family and research is easily manageable. When you have to be at 11 pm you have to be at lab.

I don't think she said its easy to do research, what she said is everyone has to handle their guide, research and family in a way they know better because there are no fixed rules for it. Also there are long running simulations for a computational biologist so there should be no discrimination as to what is difficult or easy here.
