Beaver tail! Never thought of that! As to portioning, do you portion by volume? or by weight? If you have a kitchen scale, I'll bet the portioning by weight would be a lot easier for you? I'm about to try chicken feet. I found an hispanic market close to me that actually has chicken feet, right in the display area. I'd never considered that a food before, and I've raised and butchered chickens and ducks myself. So probably pretty tame compared to your beaver tail, but this'll be the extent of my weirdness to date.

@@mariabarker2036 Nice! Chicken feet are an excellent RMB to incorporate into a raw diet and are also wonderful for making really hearty bone broths! As far as the beaver tail, I portioned by weight but really just fed as a treat. Apparently it’s a good source of glucosamine but I think it made a great teething protein for my cats, dogs, and especially the ferrets who love to chew. The bone in the center of the thick/fatty tail was considerably tough the closer it got to the *body* but apart from that the animals had a fun/ easy time working on it!

My dog's LOVE Beaver meat! The weirdest thing my dog's have eaten was coyote.. Not on purpose of course. They absolutely loved it until I got it away from them. thankfully it didn't cause any issues

@@mikefrost8775 My neighbor feeds there dog Iams witch is not a good kibble and she is always trying to eat other animals and they wonder why... Every time the dog eats a baby bunny they make stay outside :( like the dog is going to throw up! Its so sad. It came to the point that the dogs has to hunt for its own food and is getting punished for it:(. lol sorry I went on a rant but they also use a shock mat on their cat :( What do I do the help them they don't have much money

you can always buy pre-made raw. all you have to do is portion it out. some pre made raw comes already portioned out. you just have to add toppings like pureed fruit and veg an egg or so to the bowl together with the portion. As she mentioned my home cook meals are deficient in nutrients as nutrients are destroyed by the heating process.

It might be worth the effort to contact a canine nutritionist to help you make a suitable menu or 3. I find cooked diets a little harder to balance because a lot of nutrients are lost while cooking

I'm not who you are asking, but this is my thought on it. Pets who are regularly fed kibble have a more alkaline digestive tract than is needed for the raw meat diet, meaning your pet can't as easily digest the raw meat you are giving him/her, ans also more susceptible to bacterial, viral, or fungal contaminates in the raw meat. What I chose to do was to switch to a canned wet food diet first before moving into raw. I'm still in that transition, as my pet is older and extremely set in her ways, and has a tricky tummy. But she is now raw for approximately 50 percent of the meals. I don't supplement yet, as I depend on the wet canned food diet for that, but I did watch Primal Pack's videos on balancing nutrients in a raw diet, and what foods those nutrients come from, so that on her raw feedings she is getting used to getting those foods. When I do have to do my own balancing, it should be much easier because she'll be familiar with those foods already. Heart is almost always part of the raw meal, because of the taurine. I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for, but it is my take on your question. So I hope you don't mind too much. Only surface contaminants would be affected, so whatever was picked up during butchering and packaging. Anything already inside the meat is not affected.

Do you give this to your cat? if so how much do you give?

I looked into this a lot, and for heartworm I would rather not risk it, the trio one does not have good reviews from holistic vets, but Interceptor has been deemed safe as far as it can be, I am using an internal powder, a tag on a collar and wondercide for fleas and ticks, but will see how they go!

If you Know tha farm Raised was raised in sanitary places free from parasites and farmfull bacteria, it's not necessary to freeze for weeks but always make sure to freeze wild caught for the time needed.

@@Florida_954 pls DO NOT store ur chicken liver or any kind of meat in the fridge for so long. The max is 1-3 days, if u want to store ur meat for a long period of time, u MUST put it in the FREEZER not FRIDGE. That chicken liver must smell like shit sitting in the fridge for so long

Only deworm if necessary. Raw fed pet's that eat human grade meat (this depends greatly on the country's protocols) or adequately frozen meat, then there is no reason they should be getting parasites.

It can be ok as long as you're careful and know what to look for as far as risks. But, I wouldn't recommend anyone do wild meats for their dogs unless they at least have a deep freezer and can store & deep freeze all the wild meat for at least 3-4 weeks before feeding it...

If you’ve tried leaving it out in a dish to see if your cat likes it then, mix it with their other food to see if they can’t tell or cook it and slowly get more watery with it
