LED Rock Lights are one of those upgrades for the Jeep that many of us think would be "cool" to have, but if you are like me, they may not be top of the list for upgrades. Additionally, I didn't know much about the technology around brightness and color brightness however there are many other great benefits rock lights can contribute beyond just the cool factor and with many overlanding trips coming up early this year, I decided to pull the trigger and install a set on the Road Rash Jeep.
While researching, budget is one key filter that I needed to consider. Since I was already on the fence about rock lights and unsure of the brightness, I wanted to find a very inexpensive set, throw them on the Jeep and see if they would be enough for me. I immediately hit Amazon and turned my focus to user reviews.
I found a set of 6 pods by Xprite for under $60 that had ALOT of reviews with the bulk of them in the 4.5 - 5 star reviews. I decided to give these a shot.
Install was very simple. I laid these out in the place I wanted them under the Jeep and began to zip tie the wires to the tub. I decided to avoid the wheel wells since I was only installing 6 pods. I figured keeping all the pods as low to the ground as possible would disperse the light evenly and would illuminate the brightest. They wired easily to my SPOD in less than an hour.
Testing them out at night, these 6 pods are very bright and spread the light with its multi directional PODs. I have submerged them in water, driven them through sand and consistently ran them for hours. So far, these lights are GREAT lights for the money and I would suggest them.
