Yeah, I’m kinda the same. While romance isn’t exactly my first choice of story(other than the GOAT: My Dress Up Darling) both of these stories have great things going for them besides the romance, like either a interesting and dramatic premise or a good message regarding depression and forgiveness. I felt satisfied watching these to the end and could tell they left some sort of impact on me.

When watching A Silent Voice, right as the climax on the balcony was about to happen, my uncle came in with MUSHY MACARONI and started asking a bunch of questions about what I was watching. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T CRY TO THAT SCENE. Completely ruined it for me. It's fine though, it's still my favorite movie of all time.

Man these movies released almost around the same time in the year of 2016. Man 2016 was really good year for anime I would say. Koe no Katachi had a emotional impact of a story that really resonates with everyone while Kimi no Na wa is a emotional spectacle with a story that tugged the heart strings. I have seen both movie with their own merits and style. I like A Silent Voice a little bit more than Your Name, although Koe no Katachi film is not quite a perfect movie as it does have issues especially the adaptation side of things but Your Name is just a pretty movie to look at.
