Your review is awesome and I’ve had my eye on that very same speaker. Since there is so much control with the sound does component matching even matter with this speaker?
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech Месяц назад
You're right, component matching is far less beneficial than having the ability to tune the speaker. So it isn't as important, no, but some may not want to delve into the intricacies of the processor and may just want to run the factory tune and match components.

Thanks for this and the previous videos. Could you please show how you connect your AV receiver to the Legacy wavlet. I have not found anything except to confusing instructions from Legacys website.
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 23 дня назад
Legacy includes a Y splitter and some XLR cables with the speakers. It's just your XLR outputs from the AVR/Pre-Pro, into the Y splitter, then Left channel into input 1&3 on the Wavelaunch and right channel into inputs 2&4. They do include a simple instruction sheet in the box with the cables as well. It's really simple if you follow that pamphlet. The reason they do it this way is because there is a stereo algorithm they run through the processor. I disabled that algorithm by muting channels 3 & 4.

Good review-I’ve been a Legacy fan for ten years. For my HT Atmos system, I have the Legacy Aeris’s (in Sapele Pommele), Marquis XD center, a single Xtreme XD sub, 4 Calibre surrounds (also in Sapele), and 4 Sonance VP88 ceiling speakers. I recently upgraded to an Anthem AVM 90 processor (no Wavelet in my Legacy HT system). A while ago, it seems you were disappointed in ARC Genesis room correction for multiple subs. Have you tried ARC with the Aeris’s in an HT setup? Also wondering what amps you would recommend with my Legacy setup (my amps are 10+ years old).
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech Месяц назад
That is a beautiful system you have. I have tried ARC with the Aeris, which works great for home theater, but I prefer to tune the speakers without ARC for 2 channel. Why not get the Legacy Audio amps? They pair very well with their speakers, and they look just as good as their speakers.

Orchard Audio.. all have really amazing power / performance amps for less than half those costs. Really have to wonder. .. I hope I can compare them.
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech Месяц назад
@@psyphonyxaudio Honestly, my personal feeling on it, is that you aren't buying the Legacy amp because it is vastly out performing other ICE amps. It performs very well, yes, but it's mostly about the aesthetic and brand IMO. I went into it with that mentality. With that said, I'd still love to see them compared with the more affordable competition.

I have the Focus XD and been thinking about upgrading to the Aeris. I know you had the Focus XD before. Would you compare them sonically? How much better than the Focus XD? Great review. I listened to them at the LA T.H.E show last weekend and yes, their bass is mind blowing especially at $23k. Many speakers in the $50k and higher range can’t beat the Aeris deep bass. I used the same song for the comparison. Legacy is excellent in value.

IMHO Legacy is the brand for a true full range and accurate sound, being one of the few makers that design products that let you hear every instrument and note plaid on a recording. However, am surprised you found the treble on the Aeris and Focus so unflinching? I find my pair of Focus SE to be fairly forgiving on less than perfect recordings. I am using tube electronics though. Did get good results with a pair of Classe SS Monos but found myself going back to valves after a few months. Just felt they allowed the Legacy to render fuller sense of realism on the human voice than SS amps do. In any case congrats and enjoy.

I think the best type of description comparison for me would be something llike: (the kef r11 is similar in sound signature and is 90 percent as good) meaning the extra cost for diminishing return would be getting 10 percent better than a similar sounding speaker for the extra cost. That is a total hypothetical situation. Just trying to be helpful. I never plan to listen to these and it would help me with the knowledge of how certain speakers sound.

Honestly, it all depends on the individual. There is no way for me to answer that in a way that applies to everyone. For someone with the budget for Legacy Aeris, it might be worth it, for someone that doesn't have the budget, it's most likely not worth it. The law of diminishing returns varies greatly from person to person.

This truly is a situation where if you think to yourself “is it worth it?” The only true answer is no it’s not. That’s why this hobby (obsession) is endless. Everyone slowly inches their way up instead of going from a $50 Bluetooth speaker to $100k system. And honestly it’s the best way, just like those time where you “never knew what you’ve been missing”; you wouldn’t have any idea what it is you’ve gotten. I’ve listened to systems up to $250k and soon over a million dollar 2ch system. As I use those as bench marks I don’t genuinely believe I’m ready to appreciate them as my own. Just ride the wave my man and enjoy the journey.
@jamiesmith8307
@jamiesmith8307 Месяц назад
@djparra41 ive also hear $80,000 2 channel setups and it was still not much better than a $10,000. I spent $20,000 on an upgrade anthem and paradigm from a $2000 klipsch and sony and wasn't that much better. I think all of this is such small gains in sound for very big dollars spent. Law of Diminishing return hits big in this hobby. Getting out of it soon because it just drives me crazy how some people get on. Way to much foolishness with it all forsure and no matter what ya got it's never good enough or this is wrong and that's wrong.
@djparra41
@djparra41 Месяц назад
Agreed, I do genuinely think most of the money past $20,000 goes towards aesthetics and/or exclusivity. And that being said if you were into DIY, you could probably get to that 99.9% around three grand. I would say my weakest Link is room treatment, but since it is a common room in the house, I'm limited aesthetically if you know what I mean haha.
