The only thing I know for sure is that as a kid this was my favorite movie; I had rewatched it like 12 times(with the Spanish dub), I even learned and transcripted the songs into a notebook. I was fascinated with Miguel and Tulio and their dynamic, and the movie's atmosphere and aesthetic. Fast-forward six years to me having an identity and sexual crisis (bisaster alert!) because I realize I had a hugely embarrassing crush. On my best friend. The kind of friend that you make alter-egos with to make up stories in the middle of class (specifically, a death angel and a demon rising a werewolf. Yes this was before we knew about Good Omens) and laughing at a fly apparently reading an information board while the rest of the class was still busy doing the test(we were smart girls). And when she got a boyfriend? Hahaha boy if you had saw my rage!! (internal rage, bc you know, conceal don't feel, don't let it show), it was like acid splashing around in my stomach. Miguel and Tulio just have the kind of dynamic I want in my life. I recently listen to the soundtrack and those songs are SO gay, so full references to Miguel and Tulio's relationship.
