I’m yet to read the books (planning on as soon as school stops shoving books down my throat) but from just watching the films, Remus and Sirius acts like a real couple when on the other hand I wouldn’t have figured out Remus and Tonks were a thing until the second to last film, if I was being super observant. The Harry Potter series is a product of hard work of Joanne, and as an author, she has all rights to make that kind of characters which she wants. May I recommend something? If you want so passionately some certain kind of characters, just become a writer and create your own story. Joan as anybody else has the right and freedom for independent art and self-expression. Your words about rewriting someone else's story that isn't your intellectual property is unfair and certainly against the law and freedom.

Blossom Gam3r You probably haven’t heard of authorial intent or death of the author. Author intent is making decisions about the plot and subtexts of the books based off of what the author has said/written. Death of the author is people making their own decisions about interpreting the plot/subtext. There’s nothing wrong with using death of the author, frankly that’s the one I’m most comfortable using. Don’t be angry at people for interpreting subtext in their own way.

@@KazuhasWife69 sorry this was so long. some defining first: gay coding is giving a character gay traits that paints a character as gay to those in the know, historically this is done when unable to explicitly have a gay character wether censor or execs or just unwilling. Remus Lupin is pretty strongly coded gay. In the movie he was even acted and styled as a gay character. Then there comes him being a werewolf, which confirmed by J K Rowling lycanthropy is an analogy for HIV (oh boy is that a bad idea). Then comes the even worse idea of the second and only other named werewolf introduced, a pedophile who implied to had sexual assaulted Lupin as a child. Having lupin as gay only reinforces the connection hiv has with being gay but again has many issuse. Rowling has some questionable things in the books, Lupin-Tonks out of nowhere relatinships de-lgbt them both so "fixes" things she wrote. There quite a bit of subtext to that relationship too

That’s a similar vibe I got. I always saw Tonks as maybe pan or bi and Lupin as leaning more toward men but possibly bi considering his past and affection toward Sirius. I hate to say it but I think that JKR laid down the gay subtext deliberately to suggest a possible relationship but then changed her mind after Sirius died so that she could do the Teddy storyline - I heard her say once that she wanted to leave another orphan like Harry to show the awfulness of war.
