THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY MOM! she was already going to let me have one as long as I cover expenses. went to B&B. held one for the first time, then she held it. " IT'S SOOOOOOO SOFT!" and she said she was completely sold on it now
Big Papa Thicc it's weird I own a tarantula that I've carried before and I can touch her but once a cricket got lost in my room and I was crying bc I was so afraid of it 😂😂I have my dad feed my tarantula lol
Does anyone else try to not use the word "cage"? Idk why but I hate that term. I'm always like "Terrarium" "Enclosure" "Habitat" "Tank" Does anyone else do this or am I just weird? 😂
Kyra Rhoades oh yah I do that all the time but normally the first thing that comes out of my mouth is cage Me:"yah I'm planning on getting nala(my gecko) a new cage...habitat thing.... you know what I mean.🤣🤣
I finally convinced my parents to let me get a crestie! I told them I'd buy him myself as a graduation present, and I mainly got him because I work at a pet store and a certain little guy took a liking to me when I would be closing the animal department. His name was changed twice before I chose Islo in memory of your beautiful Isla
I dont know if it helps since i dont know excatly were you live but i just buy panga food on amazon and it ships right to my house i am able to get a 8oz bag for a pretty good price on there for my 2 crestes
I've been wanting a crested for a long time, I'm planning to get one this July, & watching this and your other videos make me so anxious on getting one!! Thanks for the tips, all of your videos are great 💛
I watched a crested gecko in a pet store ever time I went there to get crickets for my Leopard gecko. The crested gecko didn’t have a tail and it couldn’t grow it back. I now own him and he is a very good boi :)
My babies always wake me up because I hear the thuds from when they smack into the glass walls and then like crashing leaves when they jump and miss and fall onto the fake leaves 😂😂
A floppy tail can also be the result of Floppy Tail Syndrome (FTS). It seems to be pretty common in crested geckos, and for the most part does not effect their health very much.
I know this was a bit older video but I have been watching ALL of your videos ad I find them the most informative, you are so patient and loving towards your pets. I just got my baby crested gecko 2 days ago. He is TINY, like the size of my pinky finger, I do handfeed him and have trie to let him crawl on me from within the enclosure but he is tiny and fast and almost got out so I think I need to wait a bit until he gets bigger to really hold him outside of the enclosure
Here’s a recipe I use as a treat for my crested and gargoyle geckos. They LOVE it. Like they get really excited when I feed it. Handful blueberries Handful raspberries Handful seedless grapes Handful strawberries 2 1/2 slices of peach Drizzle of honey (optional) Dash of calcium powder Then blend it all in a blender! I eat the leftovers and it’s my favourite recipe for my own smoothies as well haha (no the calcium powder isn’t dangerous, it’s calcium, we need it too, why do people always ask that?)
To the people with tiny adult crested geckos, here's my experience. My best friend and I got crested geckos who were siblings, Fitz and Michael. Fitz is my crested gecko and she is the proper weight and length, but Michael is still small, and males are supposed to be larger than females. My friend lived in the basement during the winter in Utah, so it was dry and cold. I lived in a house with good heating and also was diligent about keeping my geckos heat lamp on. Now that she doesn't live in a freezing basement the gecko still hasn't grown, when my gecko keeps getting larger. So my theory is that my friend stunted Michael's growth so that he is unable to grow, because he was putting all his energy into being warm.
I got my crestie at 1.5g and he's been in a 45x45x60cm enclosure the whole time. As long as you give them enough hiding places, they love the space! I have always seen him exploring and running about. For anyone with young cresties, don't bother much with CGD. Mine ate it for the first two months then refused it in favour of insects for the next four months. This is fine - let them eat what they want as long as it's healthy. My crestie is now 20g and has just started eating Repashy of his own accord; they know what they need and will eat it as and when they have to. Also if you're reading this Rebecca I just uploaded a video of my crestie's new bioactive enclosure and I'd love if you could take a look!
Some extra information is she is around 3 years old. She does stay in a SAND habitat unfortunately... She uses a red light at all times including at night, that stays around 80-82 degrees F... She is handled around every other day, and is a very cute/nice gecko! She's just a sweetie, and I wish she had a better habitat (I will work on that, but she wasn't mine)
Thanks for this video! I’m doing some research to see if a crested gecko will be a good reptile to get. I always loved reptiles and learned they don’t need to eat bugs, and I’ve been doing research since to confirm and see if I’ll be a good gecko mom:) Your video definitely answered little questions I had.
The only time I hear my crestie at night is when he walks along his polystyrene wall at the back or when he’s running around chasing crickets or something
Hey leopard gecko how are you. I really love your ant videos and you have motivated me to start my own ant colany. Mine has 4 queen ant around 50 workers now.
My new baby is settling in now despite a stressful situation of my grandpa not doing any research before bringing home a tortoise. He had to give up a cage he had just settled in so my brother wouldn't have to give up his new pet, we got him a very secure and decent sized terrarium with everything he really need(except the magnetic feeding ledge I'm gonna order soon) and he seems to be alright, I'm surprised he didn't drop his tail from that situation, Considering everyone seemed to enjoy screaming while I had to transfer him into his new home.
I got him to eat a little repshay of a bamboo skewer, so that's a good sign, he also was fine with me picking him up when I had to move him into the terrarium
Crested geckos that are jumpy as babies will always be jumpy as adults. They tame down some but not much. Pretty much I advise going to a reptile show and pick the one that's level of tameness suits you because they do not change much.
Great vid as always! Thx for all the great videos u bring to us. I have 3 crested geckos and u have helped me so much when I was getting them and so I know what to do😁
Only loud noise is when he’s jumping around and when he bangs/runs into the glass Also my created gecko loves like this banana mix with water also loves melon etc. We also tried strawberry. Not a big fan we also get him jelly pots Mostly if we are gone for a week or as a treat we feed him Wax Worms. We tried Locus but he’s only 2 years old (22) so he’s still growing and he isn’t growing his tail back x.x
As far as handling reptiles (geckos), try to remember that they are geckos and not companion animals like a dog or a cat. They don't really love being handled. They will tolerate it but don't really enjoy it. Don't force it and stress them out. If they appear to not like you, reptiles don't have complex human emotions. They would just rather sit on their safe leaf.
i was told to only handle my baby leo 5 min a day so i do but can i for longer if she wants me 2 she is really friendly and never wants to go back the aquarium.
L4s3r wiz4rd33 Hey! I have a leo, and I've always tried to set a goal for 15 minutes a day for handling, though my leopard gecko had sat with me for a whole movie a couple times! I know it's okay to have them out for a while, even an hour or two, as long as they're sitting on you occassionally to get some heat back (you're like a giant heat mat so it's good for them when you have them out for long periods). Of course, don't do anything to extreme lol. And I recommend slowly building up time when handling, I think your gecko would be pretty stressed if you handled them for five minutes and the next day you had them out for an hour. So yes, they can! Just make sure they're behaving normally and not getting too cranky with you (sometimes if my leopard gecko gets too much loving, he'll start wagging his tail like the stink butt he is).
Salvatore Mormino I know I'm not leopard gecko, but i have a leopard gecko and when she was a baby and I first got her she wouldn't eat at all for a while and I was worried just as you were so what I did at first is I would still do her regular feeding schedule and put in a few crickets but if she didn't eat them by the next day I would take them out. The crickets can bite your gecko and annoy them. Also what I did is I would get a little plastic container(big enough for them to have room) and I would fill it up with WARM water about half an inch and let her soak for about 10 mins he may not like it and try to get out but just watch her and make sure it is deep enough for her to be fully soaked but not where he can't keep his head out of the water.( they can be stopped up which makes them not have the need to eat) ( so make sure to check for 💩 piles) also if you can get him calm lift him up and check for any dark spots on the tummy and if there r any he is in need of a bath(only water!) I hope I was help to you😊and I hope he gets better soon trust me it gets much easier when they get older
I love my cresteds. I have 4 and they are my favorite! I love how soft they are too. I've turned reptile haters into gecko lovers just by holding these babies!!!!
My crested gecko is fine being out and held, he only jumps when I sort of make him(holding him a little higher over a table) otherwise he walks off/slides off. But he HATES light, like whenever the room gets light - he hides under leaves. And if I take him out earlier in the day, he turns black/looks very Halloweenish but at night he stays green/orange. I'd feel way too guilty to put a light over his tank since of how much he hates it lol.
I've got four cresties and I love them so much. two adults and two babies. babies do tend to jump a lot more then adults but that is also becuase they need to get use to you. they are so tiny I handle them over the tank just to be safe.
awww :') yeah that's why i got a cresties over 6 months as I thought babies would be too small and jumpy for me, then i saw a baby in a shop the other day and couldnt believe how little it was!
When I first got my baby crestie, he tried to jump to a branch from a bush, he didn’t really jump he just stood on his back legs and fell forward, I got it on video it was so cute, he is ok btw he got back up and tried again and made it
Great video!Very informative!Kyra, as I have an Airedale terrier that sleeps in a C-A-G-E I am used to saying that word a lot, but I suppose that some people associate the word "cage" with animal abuse.
I have one leopard gecko in my bedroom and one in the living room and the one in my bedroom can be really noisy at night with glass scraping. It must be bedlam with 4 gecko's all scraping on the glass at night, phew!
I did my research before I got my crestie and floopy tail syndrome is actually not metabolic bone( but the pelvis thing I'm not sure) but fts is caused from them not using there tail enough so more branches and things for them to exercise that tail more should help fix that unless it's a side effect of its pelvis. hope the commenter reads this cause I know how stressful feeling you have a sick crested gecko can be. but I'd recommend still seeing a vet just incase it is egg bound or mbd. Also most of the pangea diets (think there's one flavor that's more a treat) work amazing and cresties love it
Cresties little hands are like velvet their so soft my mam held one and instantly let me but two I had be begging her for 3 years to let me get one and she said get more than one if you want because she loves the feeling
My female crestie is 85 grams - she's super chubby! She lost her tail but is still pretty long. She hasn't ever made any noise that I've heard but I had a male crestie a few years ago who would make tiny peeping noises at me. He sounded like a little chick!
I understand this is off topic, but could you make a video on what to do if your Leo's feet are turning black, and shrinking up sort of. I am taking care of someone else's leopard gecko, and she never provided the gecko with a humid hide, or any vitamins! Of course she did get her from PetSmart a couple years ago. I DO understand that the circulation is cutting off at the feet, and that's why they are turning black. She is acting normal, but the humid hide I made makes her uncomfortable, and she won't go in. I got her vitamins too. I'm just VERY worried, and I've seen a case like this, and it ended fatal... According to my research, I'm running out of time, and she won't shed!! 😥
I have a 2 month old crested gecko and have done everything I need before trying to handle him. I have now handled him everyday for 2 weeks and he still hates my hand. I’m not asking for any tips on taming or handling, I just want to know HOW to PICK UP these small geckos without freaking them out! thx
One of my adult crestie religiously stomps around upside down on the mesh ceiling around 3am and then launch himself off, climb back up then suicide jump again for around an hour... crazy guy, 100% healthy and good weight, i occasionally breed and I occasionally find the weirdest cresties! Like if you’ve owned them you’ll know they can be crazy mf’s😂
Today I Adopted A Crestie, And I Have A Small Problem, So If You Can Help Me, Please Reply. So i adopted my crestie with his substrate set up etc.. The thing is, that i found weird creatures in the 'Unknown damp' soil', such as: worms, 'walking' worms and tiny snails (everything was tiny). I decieded to change the substrate into eco earth and plant my 1 live plant in the eco earth but with a bit of the old soil.If the eco earth will be damp will some weird creatures show up?
Hi, you said the minimum size for a crestie but is there a max? We were gifted a 55 gal tank and have one 14cm 8 month old gecko. We don't feed him bugs yet, but if we do start, I know hunting could be a problem for them in the huge space. Do they grow to their size of enclosure? How many geckos can cohabitate? Haha many questions.
Can crested geckos be comfortable with more than one person? My boyfriend has a young crestie and I take care of him and handle him just as much as he does, and he doesn't seem that comfortable!
I’m thinking about getting a crested gecko and I’m not sure how much to feed them when they are young to when they are old, I also know the basics but I was wonder if I should have a light or not, the room temperature is about 70 is it too hot or would I need a light. Also I’m not sure if there is some other important information other than the basics that I should know, of course this is not the only video I watched, thanks if you can help!
Do not put your finger up to your cresties tank in front of his face at night, it’s when they are active, tried it the other day and mine went absolutely crazy trying run lmao, i tried it in the day the next day and he did nothing.
My crested gecko had one eye that is bigger than the other. He seemed to have been born with it but it wasn't as noticeable when he was younger. Have you ever heard of anything like this in a gecko?
My crested gecko chirped for the first time yesterday and it was so cute I actually cried. XP It was super quiet, and I was wondering if anyone knows what it means? I read that it could mean she was unsure (I had a friend with me, but she held her once before and never made noise)
I got my first crested gecko a few days ago and have been leaving him alone to get use to his new enclosure. He has not moved from the foliage in the top right of my tank since I got him (he most likely has moved when I am asleep but I see no signs of it). I want to start introducing handling. How do I get him out of the foliage? I know most people say to put your hand under their nose and coax them onto your hand but he is deep in the leaves I can barley see him. Any advice would be great. thanks.
I am getting a crested gecko on July 15 and I have seen soo many videos but yours and Taylor Nicole Deans are the most helpful but I still have questions. Btw I have held them and interacted with them before cause of my cousins crested geckos. 1. Do they prefer fake or real plants? Cause I want to get real but I'm worried it'll be a lot of work..2. How can you sex them and how do u tell their age?3. I'm unsure about a ground for the tank and how big of a tank.. 4. I've heard some people say don't hold crested geckos for the first week and others say you can so I don't know what to do.. Thanks for reading and please help!! Luv u❤️
Hello, I just got a baby crester gecko yestersay morning and he is in his cage. I handled him today for the first time and it was fine he didnt really move that much and barely walked, i tried not to stress him out so I put him back. He doesnt really move in his tank, if anything he moves somewhere else on the floor every like 3 hrs. Im alittle worried that he might be sick or something i dont know if its because he is getting used to his new home, but he doesnt behave like the ones people on youtube describe. Im gonna be patient and not handle him for some days. Any suggestions?
I realize I'm a little late to be asking questions, but can you do a video about Crestie poop? I know it sounds weird but I want to know what to expect
Hi there I love your channel I, recently got a baby crested gecko and for the past couple days he has been constantly rubbing his nose into my blankets whenever I take him out. is this normal? just curious. hope you can get back to me thanks.
Can you please make a video on respiratory infection in leopard geckos. I think my gecko has that infection, also can you teach us how to treat/cure it? I want my gecko to be healthy.
Humorous Queens A vet needs to treat a respiratory infection with medication. Make sure-to prevent future infections-you are keeping your humidity low and cleaning your tank once a week.
