@@mikecordell Oh absolutely, any top ranking or front-benching politician, regardless of party affiliation, should be taxed on top of that 1.3% as a safety deposit. If they do well and keep a clean record during their term, they can get that deposit back once the leave office.

Tax fairness? WTF! Look at one’s paystub - look at how much tax is deducted! For the average consumer - look at how much tax is collected on every grocery bill, gas receipt, phone bill etc. The average person is taxed to death. Then taxed again when they are dead. If someone risks their capital to invest / start a company - work hard, pay their taxes along the way they deserve to keep the lion share of the profit not the government. This is not fairness this is 💩💩💩

My parents were hard working farmers their entire lives. They are now 68 and want to sell some land for retirement. Guess their hard work goes to pay for tampons in men’s bathrooms
I didn’t have any problem paying for my own dental and prescriptions. But I can’t afford this government forcing me to pay for others. Drop the tax increases and stop meddling in the economy then average Canadians could pay their way instead of further reliance on government handouts.

No good at math. The 66% is the inclusion rate of the capital gain , not the tax rate . The tax rate will be whatever your tax rate is. Approximately 30% . So you will pay 30% on 2/3 rrds of the gain versus 30% of 50 % previously.
