Are Tiny Bags OVER?? \ How To Select The *PERFECT* Bag For You. 

Once I downized all my wallets, cosmetic bags, etc. for minis, I came to the conclusion all I need is my phone, cards, keys & a lipstick. When I put this stuff in a large bag, it seems ridiculous. My "big" bags are a Speedy 25 & a small Loewe Puzzle! Excellent topic and advice, as usual. ❤

Hi Sophie, as a plus size girl I always check the straps on crossbody bags.😊 Although I like mini bags, the size doesnt go well with my frame, so the next bigger version is always my jam 😊 I think we all need to consider our height and actually even our weight.😊 Love you!❤

I'm not really the petite or slim type, but I absolutely love my small/mini bags and wallets with chains. Whenever I go out, I only need a card holder, tissues, a key, lip balm, and my phone. Oh, and I attach a hand sanitizer on the outside of my bag. Now, when it starts raining, I actually prefer wearing a raincoat instead of an umbrella. I find that medium and big bags are just too heavy for me and have way too much unused space inside that I end up not using.

After many disappointments with the drop length of straps and not being adjustable this is my number one consideration now. I am 5’2 which makes handles and straps on bags a challenge ~ some bags nearly hang down to my knees (it feels like it anyway) 😂😢 Thanks Sophie for highlighting this!

LOL ... I like them all, small, medium and large ❤ it just depends on how it looks and fits for what I want. I do agree, best to try on before you buy unless you already know the style/design works and you're purchasing a different colorway or material. I've made plenty mistakes thinking something work only to accept it didn't 😔

I'm very petite so I always pay attention to the strap length in the description. 20 inches is ideal for me to wear crossbody because I like my bags to sit high. I really prefer medium size bags (around 9"), but these are the least fashionable since they are neither mini nor large. So I make do with mini bags, which look the best on my small frame. Actually, I'm glad to see large bags be on-trend now but again, I have to be careful with proportions.

I do agree about your height/size and proportions looking off. I’m 5’7” and a US 12/14. I purchased a Hermes Evelyne in the TPM size and it looked ridiculous on me, like I was carrying a toy bag. I ended up returning it and getting the PM size. Not only does it hold more than the bare minimum but it also looks so much better on my frame.

Tiny bags are selling well in my boutique. I used to only wear larger bags but I’m a huge fan of tiny bags right now. 💕

I love the Chanel top handle and bought strap extensions (pearls or chains) and they work great! And yes, they still make them and are in the newest collection…

Love your videos. I couldn’t agree more regarding the 3 week rule. I fond these videos so helpful. These bags are not cheap and there are many times where you don’t know how you carry on with the bag until you actually use it on the daily.

I think your idea of waiting for at least three weeks before purchasing a handbag or any fashion item that costs a lot of $, is a fabulous idea. I think it would make me really think about the pros and cons of the bag, the reality of whether I would really use the bag to make it worth the amount of money I'm going to spend on it, and not getting caught up with emotions or impulsive buying, i.e. If I don't buy it now, it may not be available in a few weeks. I got sick of my tiny bags because trying to fit what I needed was like playing a game of Tetris. I just bought a larger bag that fits everything I need. Love it! But it’s murder on my shoulder. So in all actuality, it’s taught me to downsize for comfort unless I’m using a tote.

As a petite woman, I would never buy a mini bag, even if proportionally it suits me, because I know from experience that in a post-flip phone era, the size just doesn't cut it anymore. I'm somebody who needs a medium-ish sized bag to fit all my daily basics, due to needing to carry around two eyeglass cases throughout the year (my daily glasses and prescription sunglasses). The only time I wouldn't do that is on date nights, in which case I think clutches are far better, since they often have bult-in card holders and/or are long and rectangular, so fitting your phone shouldn't be a problem.

I love the Fendi bucket bag, I’ve been thinking about buying one for over a year. Feels like it would be perfect for travel or a tropical vacation. i think the trends are heading towards large bags. However i'm going to still wear my mini to micro bags, since i don't carry a lot of stuff. For my everyday use i like the mini baguette. i'm considering a mini origami.

Yes, you can still get the coco top handle. It is in the 24P collection. I was offered a white and a pink (mauve) color. I choose a white mini from this collection instead.

I am 5 ft. 7 too and I don’t think small bags look too tiny on me. I belive it really depends on the length of the shoulder strap.

I think it totally depends on where you are going and what you are doing. Evenings are a small bag but daytime depends on my agenda and appointments. Sometimes I can use a medium and on days when I might have some downtime and need my ipad or files for clients a larger bag is a must.

When it comes to bags I try to stay classic especially because I like to spend a bit on them. I never buy oversized or tiny unless it has a purpose (i.e. small backs for cocktail and large bags for work). I also agree with Sophie that smaller day bags done always look the best on adult women. It kind of looks like something you took from your toddler's closet and put it on.

Wow! I lurve that yellow lemony Coco handle, the colour is just pop n stands out, absolutely stunning! That design of Coco handle was the best without it's top flap stitching around the edge, making the bag puffier n more 3 D. The new ones come with edge stitching which I don't really like on the Coco handle n the bag looks stiffer n less carefree

I don’t carry a lot in my bags. I would say, the majority of my bags are small/ medium sized satchels. I do have some tiny bags and I love them! Great for errands or going out. I have a few baby Fendi’s and a tiny Moschino bag. All from the early 2000’s and going strong. 😎 I tend to change my bag with my mood or where I’m going so I like a variety of sizes. Now, only my personal preference, but I can’t carry large bags anymore. Too heavy and they look too big with my 5’3 frame. But, they look fabulous on others!

When I look at bags, I have to see if they call attention to my stomach, which is always a problem area. As for tiny bags, the problem is that phones are rather large these days. Long gone are the days of the tiny flip phone. No matter the occassion, I have to have a bag that fits my phone, usually my car's key fob, a small bottle of lotion, contact lense rewetting drops, a tissue, debit card, and lip gloss - and frankly, reading glasses.

My go to will always be a Speedy 30 it’s the perfect size and i switch from my 35 to 30 and occasionally my 25. Classic is always in style.

I prefer medium size bags these days like the Picotin 18. It's perfect for me and still looks stinking cute and chic. I added a shoulder strap and it's a game changer not having to hold it up on the crooks of my arms. And still low key! Haven't used my Chanel WOC nor small double flap recently.

Yes, strap lengths are very important, whether they're removable or not, or adjustable or not. And of course the size of the bag compared to one's body size and height is important as well. I have also downsized my wallet to a card case and carry just a lipstick ! However, I did make a Huge mistake, when I fell in love with what I thought was a medium bag,😢 bought it, only to find out it did not fit my phone ! 😮 Such an elementary mistake ! 😄😄😄

Yes! Strap length is so important. That's why I don't like rectangular minis and Wocs. Square minis are perfect for me. Straps need to be at least adjustable for versatility. Once in a while, we need bigger bags too for travel, work etc, whether it's in trend or not. But micro bags are definitely out now. I watched a Chinese reseller say the prices for those have plummeted a lot this year.

I have swung back and forth on bag sizes, and I’ve come to the conclusion that medium sized bags usually work best for me. I love the idea of a mini bag, and as a minimalist I’ve gotten by with just my money, ID, and lip products. However, I’ve come to the realization that I can put those same minimal contents into my medium sized bag and still have room for anything I pick up while out and about. Some smaller bags are also much harder to use because you have to fiddle with them while arranging your things in place so they fit.

I have a Longchamp wallet that dictates how big/small my bag can be and it's not small! And the only thing I've used for years is a crossbody. They're just too practical and easy to use to even try anything else.

If you are going to keep a bag, purse rehab or leather surgeons can extend the strap Either by adding leather or links.

Another thing to consider...if you are tall or overweight, tiny bags make you look even larger; also, if you're petite in height or skinny, large bags make you look more diminutive. When in doubt, medium bags are the way to go = fits a large phone, normal sized wallet, keys, sunglass case, etc. I own a handful of small bags, but I definitely don't need the tiny ones. I'm average height and a little overweight, so the small bags aren't the best match for me.

Agree that height and proportions are key. I am 5" and I will not be able to pull off the big bag trend. I would look even smaller visually (relative to the bag). And someone taller or bigger would look even more so visually when carrying a mini bag. That was the point of the Jacquemus tiny bag of course

Wow I was watching your old video with the yellow coco handle yesterday and almost left comment to see if you still used and can’t believe you made a video on it today 😂 The mini coco handle comes with a much longer strap for crossbody use - fits my 5’7 frame but obviously it’s more mini than your small size

Sophie, it's so frustrating but I have back issues so I can only wear small bags or backpacks. I have small kids so I need lots of things and snacks drinks etc. I found a nice leather coach backpack but when we go restaurants I always forget to change my bag and end up wearing a backpack to dinner.

Strap length- not just height, body shape and size plays a part, also wearing it over a coat. I have a ysl length is perfect for cross body but not over a winter coat.

I think bag size depends on your personal lifestyle! My mom always carried giant shoulder bags and hobo bags, but now that she’s older she likes crossbodys. We haven’t found a great one for her because she’s only 4’11, they hang past her waist 🤣

I have the crossbody chain length issue with a YSL bag. The chain attaches inside the flap, so I started basically “wrapping” the chain to the opposite side of the flap, which makes it a great length for me and I suddenly want to use the bag more.

I’m 5’2” so mini bags are great for me. I shortened my mini rectangular strap from the inside a little wire to look better on my height. I don’t have enough stuff to fit those big bags anyway

Chanel bags definitely need to be tried on in person because the strap lengths differ so much between all the bags. The mini square is too short on me while the mini rectangular is perfect. The classic woc hangs a little too low on me but the reissue woc is just right. I wouldn’t buy a bag which doesn’t fit my phone so a woc is as small as I’ll go now.

I bought a white mini Chanel CoCo handle in 2022, the strap that came with is quite long actually. Perfect for crossbody. Maybe they changed the length of strap at some point? Or, it could be because it's a different size.

Where I live people still carry tiny bags but also carry a canvas tore at the same time

I had an LV Pochette st Germain. I’m taller and the bag just looked like a literal wallet on chain. But compared to the Chanel WOC, the Chanel WOC can look like a bag bc of its dept. So I eventually sold the LV bc no matter what, my body proportions made it look like I was carrying a wallet, not a bag.

I have always felt that if you carry a big bag you will fill it (and good luck on the shoulder). And most of the stuff is not even needed. But I am not a purse person.

I wonder if you know anything about kibbe body types? I think it influences how bags look on a person. For example, in Kibbe I am a soft natural and it turns out that very structured bags do not look nice on me, however bags which are more relaxed in construction do look good and harmonious; it also goes for fashion as well.

For me it's the total opposite. I'm only 5'3 and smaller bags are flattering on me but bigger bags not so much. I tried bigger bags but always ended up selling them as I realized that I don't go for them as much esp. as I don't carry so much stuff with me anymore since I've been mostly working from home. So I think it's true that it depends on your height.

I had my fill of big bags when my sons were little. A tiny bag that won’t hold my phone is a hard pass. I’m one of those people that HATES holding a phone in hand at all times.

Fashions come and go and at the end of the day, there will always be occasions when you need a big bag and others where a mini is suitable. If you don’t want to end up with an expensive bag that you never reach for, I think it’s more a question of colour. You’ll always have use for a mini in a neutral or metallic colour, but in peach or lilac?…. Not so sure.

My issue with small bags is not being able to fit in sunglass cases. Some are huge but even the smaller sized ones are pretty much impossible to fit in.

I think people should not buy bags just because they with big brand name and “affordable”. 2 Fendi bags you shared literally super average, for such bags there is no need to be Fendi and cost even 1500. On the point of the video, you are right, there is a place for small bags, but wardrobe should have variety for different needs and different occasions.
