Are Warsaw's reforms too little, too late? | Conflict Zone

Last year Poland bucked the trend in Europe and ousted the far-right Law and Justice Party that had been in power for eight years. But just how divided does the country remain? And how worried is the government that a far-right party emerged in the European elections as the most popular among young people? Our guest this week in Warsaw is the Justice Minister Adam Bodnar. Few countries have watched the war in Ukraine more closely than Poland, which warned time and again that Putin would march beyond his borders - only no one listened.
What warnings does the government have for Europe these days?

19:43 Art.264 point 3 ( who helps cross border illegaly risks imprisoment up to 8 years) ... This international group doesnt act with accordance to law. If u want to cross border LEGALY u go through crossings and file documents. Distributing documents through border is clearly criminal.

@MegaMementoMori 4 дня назад
@@Piotrek_J People crossing illegally can know that on the other side there are people who will aid them, which is often necessary for a successful operation. A driver who helps bank robbers get away with the loot is just as culpable for assistance as anyone else.
@Piotrek_J

@@MegaMementoMoriOk, so you have to prove that they contacted each other and jointly organized the procedure, which is very unlikely.
@MegaMementoMori
@MegaMementoMori 3 дня назад
@@Piotrek_J No. If there is a plague of bank robbers and you wait with your car, hoping to let one of them escape, you still go to jail for helping bank robbers. The same is true for illegal crossings - you may not know who is doing that, but you are willingly helping criminals.
@Piotrek_J
@Piotrek_J 3 дня назад
@@MegaMementoMori In your example, such a person who goes somewhere because he hears about it from TV does not organize these bank robberies. You manipulated a bit. Art.264 pt.3 "Whoever organizes others to cross the border of the Republic of Poland in violation of the provisions of the law, shall be punished by imprisonment from 6 months to 8 years." The regluation is clear, it says "organizes", activists do not organize illegal crossings, they assist in obtaining asylum and medical care after that.

Never heard about Germany disliking Poland. Chancellor Khöl played a significant role in 1989/90 events and sign _border confirmation_ treaty after German Unification. Germany was *huge* advocate of our EU accession. Thanks to Chancellor Merkel's support Donald Tusk was _President of EU,_ later chairman of the biggest party in EU Parliament, Ms. Merkel's a member of. And that's just a few major examples.

I'm Polish, what Adam Bodnar says is nonsense, he is in the Civic Coalition party and in order to regain government in Poland, they went so far as to say in Europe that there is no democracy in Poland. there was and is democracy in Poland. please understand that the bipartisan coalition party was not allowed to govern for 8 years because people did not want to elect them, they did not vote for them because they did a lot of bad things in Poland, e.g. they closed mines and industries, people had to leave Poland for a living, the poverty zone was larger. Since law and justice began to govern poverty, there was less work in Poland, so people voted for law and justice. Please take my word for it, Poland was and is a democracy. The citizens' coalition is saying this specifically to put Europe at odds with Poland. If they don't govern, no one should govern, and they exert influence by spreading nonsense. I used to travel a lot around the world, my English is not that good. I wanted to make the rest aware that what Bondar is saying is nonsense, he just wants to gain money and let the citizens' coalition rule again, and if they don't rule, they say there is no democracy and they have been using emotional blackmail for many years.
