As an English Anglican we have a beautiful liturgical form of worship. It's good not to be under Rome, with its long history of corruption.

Anglican Catholics are "reformed". If you think that makes them Protestant, then you believe the Roman Catholics are Protestants too?

Would be worth mentioning that you speak only for US Anglican churches. Your comments differ wildly from the Anglican church I was confirmed in in New Zealand. Not the Catholic part, we were part of the universal Catholic church which is totally different from protestant churches. PS, I know several African Pentecostal churches say the Nicene creed every week during their services, I have attended them myself.

I was raised beiing told we were Anglican, baptized as a baby. In my home we never had any religious talk or parental guidance. Everything I've learned of religion was from t.v or youtube. I also live in New Zealand, at this time in my life I feel overwhelmed by the spirit to find Christ , but I'm so confused ,between catholic, protestant, Anglican. Can you recommend a path or denomination?

It seems to me that the Anglican Church is deviding into pieces, like other protestant Churches. But, maybe this reflects the different camps each calling themselves Anglicans(high, low, broad)?

You’re saying that you protested and “wanted to get back to the bible” but you’re not protestant. I think you should at least embrace that you are protestant, but not evangelical because you are catholic. I also don’t think you strayed that far from the Episcopal church because, as an Episcopalian myself, we are still in communion and catholic and believe the full doctrine handed down by Jesus to the apostles.

Anglicanism is basically Catholicism but with more progressive views. These include (married priests, women priests, allowing divorces, holy communion being symbolic act rather than actual body and blood.) but that’s mostly it. If you go to a catholic mass you’ll find that much of it is seen in an anglican mass.

O for the love of anything, I hate it when Americans try and fail to explain anything British in origin which includes Anglicanism. Anglicanism by default another name for the Church of England ( CofE) is Protestant, it was created by Henry 8th as a way to grant him the ability to inull his marriage legally in the eyes of the lord, so he split from Rome and created his own church with him as the figure head and since the the monarch of the UK has been the Head of the CofE and still is. There has been feuds over this ever since its inception and since I believe Queen Mary 2 and king William 3 there was a law past by parliament stating that there will never be another catholic monarch of the UK. So u stating that some in the Anglican Church are catholic and some are catholic is complete Bull. The United Kingdoms main religion is protestant christianity. So the Term Anglican Catholic when searched says that "it follows the doctrines" of the CofE and "is the true successor of the church of England in the United States of America". This is false for only one reason (and its a bloody great big main reason). CofE=PROTESTANT Anglican catholic=CATHOLIC, see you can't be CofE and Catholic its an OXYMORON you bloody moron. Oh and just before anyone asks, I am christened CofE ,went to a CofE primary school , a Catholic High school and a religious college and am post university age incase people want to ram "what makes you able to comment bull..." THERE RANT OVER

After James II (VII of Scotland) was replaced, there was a law against Roman Catholic Monarchs of England (and later the United Kingdom). When the Church of England refers to itself as Catholic, it means it in the sense that it views itself as having a direct relation to the original, united Church, not in the sense of the Roman Catholic Church. You can see something similar with the Orthodox Catholic Church.
@TheKayleigh124
@TheKayleigh124 3 года назад
@@AlexanderDiviFilius No, I’m sorry, I appreciate that yes Orthodox Christians are Catholics alongside Roman Catholics, but unfortunately the only thing Church of England has in common with Catholics is that they are Christian. The Church of England, Lutherans, Methodists and Evangelical Christians are all branches of Protestantism, of which whom reject the Roman Catholics doctrine. So how you can sit there and say we have anything to do with Catholicism , other then rejecting it, is beyond understanding.
@AlexanderDiviFilius
@AlexanderDiviFilius 3 года назад
@@TheKayleigh124 Roman Catholicism is very different from the united Church of antiquity. The Church of England needs to have very little in common with Roman Catholicism in order to consider itself Catholic, which it only claims to be in part anyway. Whether or not you agree that the Church of England is remotely Catholic is irrelevant; multiple English (and Scottish, technically) Monarchs have made deliberate efforts to maintain various Catholic traits, and the religion itself still defines itself as partially Catholic.
@TheKayleigh124
@TheKayleigh124 3 года назад
@@AlexanderDiviFilius OMG it’s not wether I agree with it or not, it’s the fact of wether the Church of England (not Scotland, which there is a Church of Scotland by the way) is Protestant or Catholic. How can the Church of England be Catholic when the one of the fundamental principles of Anglicanism does not recognise the Pope in any way shape or form. The CofE is Evangelical and is seen as a middle ground between Calvinism and Lutheranism, NOT the middle ground for Protestantism and Catholicism. It has Never defined itself as partly Catholic in fact HENRY VIII created it for the very purpose of denouncing Catholicism. And as for James II, he might of been a devote Catholic but he kept it hidden for most of his reign, until 1673 getting married to his new wife and the pope acknowledged his ‘“change”, which then promoted parliamentary action in asking for the bloody revolution in where James PROTESTANT daughter and her husband were asked to invade. Setting in motion the Bill of Rights of 1689 Parliament declaring that no future monarch could be a Catholic or be married to a Catholic. This provision was reaffirmed in the 1701 Act of Settlement and remains in force to this day. So in conclusion the Church of England isChristian, yes.But is the Church of England Catholics no.
@AlexanderDiviFilius
@AlexanderDiviFilius 3 года назад
@@TheKayleigh124 I never mentioned the Church of Scotland lol, I mentioned the fact that many of the Church of England’s earlier reforms were overseen by the Stuarts, who were monarchs of both England and Scotland. Henry VIII was a devout Catholic who happened to care more about himself and who he could marry. He even kept the title “Defender of the Faith” given to him by the Pope as recognition of his defence of Catholicism. It wasn’t until Elizabeth I where the CofE started to gain more of an actual identity besides being the creation of a man desperately trying to secure his dynasty. Catholic is Greek for “universal”. You don’t have to recognise the Pope to be Catholic, as shown in the Orthodox Church. What you need to do is claim some form of descendent of the original, united Church. That is what is meant when the CofE is described as Catholic. Besides a handful of similarities deliberately kept over during the transition, this is all that is meant.
@rraddena

You most assuredly are protestant. Your externals may be “catholic” but your theology of the Mass is deficient because your 39 Articles clearly state that is is not sacrificial in nature, among other things.
@richardsaintjohn8391

The Articles are only a historical statement. The Episcopal parishes I've attended over 38 years offer the Mass. Have tabernacle, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Have Rosary.

@@richardsaintjohn8391 But your ordinal and 39 articles invalidate your priesthood, mass and eucharist. You are protestant no matter how much incense and chant and bells you use

Not all church bodies in the US subscribe to the idea that the 39 articles are authoritative, and the Anglican Catholic Church is one of them. It would be better to remember that we agree on almost everything than to hammer on the things where we disagree. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

@@eddarby469 yes but by virtue of the fact that your orders are null and void, your sacraments are invalid. If you are convinced of the Catholic faith then you are bound by conscience to join. There is the Anglican Ordinariate. You cannot claim to be Catholic yet remain outside the Church.

Roman Catholicism strictly speaking isn't Christianity. It's pagan in its origins. Anglicanism is only a 1 or 2 degrees away from Catholicism so hangs onto being Christian by the thinnest of threads. This is why so many Anglicans are confused and sometimes even believe themselves to be Catholic and this doesn't seem to concern them. Some even convert to Catholic.
