The ICJ was crystal clear in its clarification on July 17, 2024; Israel must leave all illegally occupied territories; Gaza, East Jerusalem, West Bank.... Israel and supporters (US, UK, Germany..) are obliged to make reparations. - An occupying power has no right to self-defense. - Geneva convention
"An occupying power has no right to self defence". If this is true, no wonder that document isn't worth the toilet paper it's written on. Try telling that to the troops.
@@MrWhitmen1981 yes Japan started the war but that didn’t justify the nukes. Truman did it as a show of force but Eisenhower admitted that they were already negotiating peace with Japan when the nukes were dropped. This idea that it was the only way to end the war is an absolute myth.
@@MrWhitmen1981 you think that justifies them nuking everyone??! Would you still say that if someone dropped a nuke in the west for all the aggression they started in absolutely every other country?!
😮 but Palestinians are unable to take care of themselves and be sovereign. They need handouts. Monies will be used for restructuring. Mister, you are naive.
Mr Miraj you're totally wrong by saying that the conflict started on October 7th as your guest correctly said about the 1967 war and its being going on with its brutal genocidal occupation
i agree, but its hard to boycott Israeli products, like Hollywood for example. But I agree and I would do my best to stop buying those products. Economic and sporting sanctions and boycotts should be imposed though. The fact they could participate in the Paris Olympics is a joke, seeing Russia weas banned and not Israel shows the hypocrisy here.
The UK doesn't supply very much to Israel actually Israel supplies the UK with Technology, Intelegence and drugs. Infact Israel used to supply the UK with 1/3 of all drugs in the NHS, after Brexit it now supplies them with 2/3. If the UK Boycotts Israel it will be finished, not to mention it's lifeline (USA) will cut the UK off. Also if you thing your Boycotts are making a difference they are not. People like you have been boycotting forever and Israel still ended up with the strogest economy in the middle east
This presenter doesn't know what he's talking about. He disagrees with the ICJ, ICC & the expert on his own show who has spent several years in Gaza, Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank. Ali Miraj should be ashamed of himself. Inverted commas for occupation, when there are literally court rulings confirming this!
Don't worry, he knows; he's just being hypocritical. He thinks we are still in era that people don't check things out for themselves and would take what a radio presenter presents as fact; the joke is usually on them now because they are unintentionally advertising their ignorance or hypocrisy.
Forage is an Israeli asset under investigation for the riots caused by the EDL who are a branch of the JDL Jewish defence league, and you have a picture of farage as your profile pic. Biased much.
Imagine your government dug 500 km of tunnels and they wouldn't let kids shelter in them, meanwhile in Ukraine, they built SCHOOLS underground, different values to life..Justify that, whichever country you are from

When was hamas charter drawn up. Palestinians have been under brutal occupation for 76 years. All rejected peace plans were rejected by the ridiculous list of conditions and restrictions. The main one was no right of return of the displaced refugees.
What’s more ridiculous is Hamas trying to demand favourable terms from the guys holding the big stick. In no era in human history from the stone age onwards has that worked.
@@MrWhitmen1981 Don't you think people with big sticks should be forced to obey the law by the rest of us. Isn't that how society survives long term?- even one around this small blue marble.
Ukraine occupation is unacceptable from the first day by the US and Europe governments. But Palestine occupation is Acceptable for75 years. Double standard

I clicked on this after reading the headline, The root of the problem is occupation, thinking you were going to talk about the past weeks and the influx of illegals entering into the UK's. But alas I was wrong.
I can't believe that after listening to that after listening to Oliver your first sentence suggests this started on October 7th. Oliver suggested 1967 but it goes way further back at least to 1948 and in reality well before then.
For all those who obviously need a history lesson but are unable to read a book. The present iteration of the problem in the area known as Palestine began with the publication of Theodore Herzle's treatise on zionism in the late 1800s. This was the start of the occupation of Palestinian Arab lands by jewish settlers.
In 2018 Israeli soldiers shot over 6,000 Palestinians. In many cases they were shot with illegal expanding ammunition. So, did the present iteration of this problem begin on 7th October 2023 (1,200 casualties) or March/Dec 2018 (6,000 casualties) ??
H group is an idea - Pales. freedom, sovereignty & self-determination. You cannot eradicate an idea. Presenting H-group as X number of soldiers gives oxygen to the idea that Izzy's deranged strategy has some kind of merit. LBC has a responsibility to present the facts, not narratives that favour one side over the other.
Peace talks but hamas wasn't invited? Just like how the EU held peace talks to resolve Ukraine war without inviting Russia. Maybe the taliban held peace talk with the US but the US wasn't invited.
Root of the problem is not occupation. At one time Palestine was occupied by the ottomans but there was no Free Palestine campaign then. Gaza was occupied by Egypt and there was terrorist attacks to free Gaza. Root of the problem is lsIam like everywhere in the world.
Ali conveniently forgets to mention Natanyaho's Likud Party 1977 manifesto states: "Between the sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty". Ali is another Israeli government apologist who only mentions Hamas but not the Israeli government's. In response to the Likud Party manifesto Hamas included the destruction of Israel in their charter in 1988. As a journalist it's your duty to tell the truth, not a one sided story.

The whole point of Nutty funneling funds to Humus to get them established was to divide Palestinian leadership and preclude the chances of Palestinian self determination in contravention of international law. So Ali Miraj was acting as propaganda mouth piece for Nutty when he says that Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem are disparate rather than pointing out that this was due to the policies of Nutty et al.
I always try and give different reporters a chance but LBC really have some atrocious talent. This man is so incredibly biased and he doesn’t try and hide. Doesn’t even try and incorporate new information he hears. The man he just interviewed has more experience than him but his information went in one ear and out the other. What a joke

Any ceasefire will be short term, long term peace is very difficult with Nethanyahu in charge of Isreal and Hamas stating to represent Palestians, neither are open to the idea to a 2 state solution, and neither does Nethanyahu even try to give Palestians rights to control water, electricity in Gaza or try to stop further occupation, neither does Hamas want Isreal to exist in first place. How can peace be possible?
As the indirect talks between Israel and Hamas have continued to drag on, one of the main issues has been over the second and third phases of the ceasefire. The second phase of the US-mediated ceasefire proposal begins with a permanent cessation of military operations, including the complete withdrawal of Israel from Gaza. In the third stage, both parties exchange the remains of dead captives and prisoners on either side. A Gaza reconstruction plan, which should be finalised during the second phase, commences in the third phase. After Hamas announced it accepted this proposal, Israel launched a military incursion into Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza that had previously been deemed a red line by US President Joe Biden. In May, Israel proposed that its troops would leave the border area between Gaza and Egypt, the Philadelphi Corridor. However, several reports have stated that Israel has added new stipulations asserting it would not withdraw from that buffer zone. Amid the ongoing negotiations, Israel has launched several extraterritorial military attacks that could potentially see its war on Gaza expand to a regional war, further escalating the conflict.
Give Palestine back its land that has been illegally stolen by occupation, the land also stolen but that's another story in the 1950 split, give the land back from the 1950 split and then maybe peace has a chance, anything less is a failure, it has been for the last 70 plus years.
Guest the host doesn’t know about hamas funding. I’m tired of hearing everyone talking about a Palestinian state. Let’s head first hand of what the Israeli people think of a Palestinian state. There lies the problem.
