Join dad and I for some fun on the farm! Planting Spring Wheat for the Doves. We also take a quick look at our tractors since a few of you have asked. Enjoy!
Looks like it is getting about that time of the year. We got 5 inches of rain out there Friday night Saturday morning. Luckily no washing out of anything. I think Wednesday I'll haul my little Kabota home to load up the planter and take it back out there in preparation for planting my sunflowers.
I’m hoping you still pay attention to older videos, and are interested in my experience today with Game wardens! As to how they interpret the rule book! After this video I was encouraged to plant a wheat field and I did 2 weeks ago and it germinated and is growing up fine! Last week I planted 2 acres of truckers choice corn for dove and deer hunting! Our land is in lake city sc this morning we we hunted for turkeys on the 166 acre farm and before sunlight the game wardens came in on us! My son was 400 yards away in a box stand couldn’t see the field, I was close to the property entrance about 1,200 yds away and no way were either of us hunting over the field! They told us they were going to ticket us for baiting and I was shocked t but there was more they also said that we couldn’t hunt any of the property because we had 2 acres of corn! The part I didn’t tell you is how we planted, we used a walk behind garden seeder for the first 10 pounds and it was gulling work so I took a 3 point spreader and cast it out like wheat then I took a drag harrow and tried to cover all I could by ruing it over many times with the tractor! Well it worked and we have germination! I asked the warden to show me the rule I violated and it’s very vague they don’t define hunting over as being whole property and they don’t define the full meaning of planting and from what I’m reading traditional methods of planting only cover farm equipment not necessarily drag harrows cullipackers! I think we should pass the word along they are leaving the rule book vague to entrap hunters! Really like your channel and look forward to your next video!
Man that is crazy, sounds like a stretch of the law just to write a ticket ! I wonder if planting wheat in the spring is not considered normal agricultural practice?? I would be in court fighting that one on principal. Really appreciate you sharing, thanks for following along.
Brother you are truly blessed as are we all. I still have my dad working in our business as he celebrated his 95th not long ago. Pop still does more than most by 7am. Too good to be true but it is!
Have done it twice with very good luck. If you search "German Millet" on my channel there is a video from 2022 doing this and the results. It works well
Looks good. We are still to wet. Need to burn down our dove fields but can’t get in. Hopefully after this week with temps in the 70’s we can. Just got our sunflowers and corn in. Did some maintenance on the planters and sprayer this weekend
What corn you planting ? There are so many round up varieties out there, I have no idea where to start. Local Farmer was supposed to text me some info.
