The main problem with in-depth topics in one video is it becomes less fun to learn for the every man and the more fun it is, the easier it is to retain.

What is really the effect of violence in Video Games? I personally feel like it doesn't desensitize me to actual violence, but can you guys please answer this?
@zanzy654
@zanzy654 9 лет назад
Violent video games don't desensitize you as long as you are able to distinguish that the violence in the game isn't the same thing as violence in the real world. Usually when people commit crimes or acts of violence because of video games their brains have become wired to believe that violence will make them feel good so they commit crimes to get a happiness buzz. This is because of the fact that when playing games you score when you do something bad and your brain starts to make connections tell you that doing these things make you happy. You try harder and harder to win and feel happy forming an addiction. This process is very similar to how gambling addictions form/work

+Jeffrey Green Don't bother thinking about that. The "science" they talk about is some kind of approximation of general population, we are all different when it comes to circadian rythm (lifestyle, what time do you sleep) and it even changes during different seasons and depends on light exposure as well. This makes this video "interesting thing to watch" but not very practical.

If you liked this video, you may also want to know that there's research out there saying that coffee makes heart and vessel disease (cardiovascular disease) worse because it raises LDL cholesterol, but that’s not the whole story! We now know that LDL particles can either be large and buoyant, or small and dense. When LDL particles are large and buoyant, they can help decrease risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). And coffee can transition LDL particles from small and dense to large and buoyant, decreasing CVD risk!

The circadian rhythm varies from person to person although external stimuli (daylight) affects (and adjusts) it you can't deal with absolute times here since they can vary even in a daylight synchronized state. And then of course there are distortions, especially since modern times (artificial light, we stay up late to watch tv/internet, get up earlier than we would naturaly, jet lags..). So you have to find your own time to drink coffee.

GhostKnight There is a temperature at which any body would produce waves with wavelength of Planck length. Bringing any more energy to these particles (increasing temperature) would make them emit waves with wavelength shorther than Planck length, which is considered smallest possible distance. You can calculate this temperature from Stefan - Boltzmann law or Black-body radiation laws.

Yes. The temperature equivalent to all atoms in a structure moving at the speed of light. No idea how hot that would be but its safe to say very hot
@frameofessence

Added on top of that is it best to let it fully charge before removing it from the charger? Or can you remove it before 100% without negative affects on your battery?
@erkdoc5
@erkdoc5 9 лет назад
Ansh Bhatia Every once in a while you want to. Modern batteries need that full recharge every once in a while to calibrate so they can accurately measure how charged they are. The best way to get the most life from your battery is to charge it at the 50% to 75% range. You also want to avoid leaving it on the charger when it is fully charged since fully charged batteries have a higher voltage, and keeping it at higher voltages lowers the life of the battery. You can remove it before 100% charge without negative effects. You would still want to do a full charge from dead every once in a while in order to keep the battery calibrated correctly. As to how often that is needed varies from different sources, but at least once a month is preferred.
@EnigmacTheFirst
@EnigmacTheFirst 9 лет назад
Myth. I've always done both and my phone battery life has remained relatively the same for the 4 years I've had it. It lasts anywhere from 4-5 hours of use time. Any drop in battery life is probably just due to age, as batteries become less effective over time.

You say Cortisol levels go up 50% right after you wake up, but you give no reference to how much they increase during those three times a day they do. How am I supposed to relate those? Also, an I to believe that cortisol increases in people based on the time and not at all in correlation to their sleep patterns? Does my Cortisol go up around 9:00 A.M. if I go to bed at 5:00 A.M. and sleep until noon? We need a little more Science and a little less ASAP, because it is getting to the point where I feel like you are just trying to make quick topical videos and not actually educate or inform. @foreverxundefined

What happens in the morning is your body is using your adrenal capacity to make cortisol. Cortisol helps to raise blood pressure, so when you get up you dont get a drop in brain blood pressure which makes you pass out. Having salt (0.5/1.0 teaspoon dissolved in a glass of water) helps your adrenals. One of the ways your blood pressure rises (aka morning cortisol production) is by changing the ratio of sodium to potassium. So with all this said, please feel free to drink coffee after having your biology supporting cup of saltwater. ENJOI.

Diana Nataly That's odd, it's the complete opposite for me. I ONLY drink coffee when I'm extremely tired or have a really bad headache. When I drink one cup, I gain energy an hour after or so, and as for the headache, it goes away in a few minutes - half an hour. Perhaps everyone is different and your hormone levels produce different reactions with the coffee.

what i know is that your cravings for specific foods can mean nutritional deficiencies, for example if you constantly want to eat oranges all the time, your body can be asking for vitamin c. it works a lot like being thristy. another thing is that if you usually eat a lot of carbohydrates it can be because of a serotonin deficiency. carbs relax you and you feel satisfied. thats why anxious people can use food as a compulsive behavior to treat their anxiety and racing emotions. and yes if your reward centers in the brain are not working correctly you would unconciously do activites to naturally activate it like eating, sex, gamble.. anything that increases dopamine really

How accurate is this, really? I mean, doesn't a person's peak vary by their internal clock? More specifically, wouldn't it be different for people based on the time they awaken? If one person normally woke at 5:00, another woke at 6:00, another at 7:00, and so forth, wouldn't that mean they had different peak periods? If someone starts their day at 2:00 or 3:00 am and finishes their work day by 11:00 am, wouldn't they have a different peak period than someone who starts their work day at 9:00 or 10:00 am? I normally have a very early work shift and am often finished before most people even start their work day. It sounds to me like you are basing this on a very specific wake up time and work day, which really is misinforming people whose lives don't fall into that pattern. If you were more general, or rather more specific, in your terms by saying something like "a person's peak period begins when they wake, lasts for an hour and repeats every three hours", this would be a statement that would be more measurable and infinitely more useful to the general populace. I thank you for your endeavors. I just wish they were more flexible so I could apply them to my life.

Hey AsapSCIENCE! Great video, thanks for sharing. But one thing did jump out at me. You mentioned all the other times throughout the day which cortisol levels are active/released, due to the presence of sunlight/daylight? I work in sort of a basement area, with no windows (only florecent lighting)...is this affecting my natural cortisol levels? Sometimes I do go for a second up for coffee during the day (double shot even) but I try never to have more than 2 short blacks!
