Our 8 month golden retriever had seizures from Simparica trio. It started 2 hours after giving it to him. We were thankful after about 3 weeks they stopped. The vet told us it wasn’t caused by Simparica, it was an underlying issue. Which I don’t believe.
@lillieberger2883
@lillieberger2883 Год назад
The FDA would disagree with your vet. They put out a warning, which is huge when it come to the FDA caring about pets, that one of the active ingredients in Simparica, along with a host of other flea and tick meds was found to cause seizures, some resulting in the death of cats and dogs. You can find it online. Frontline has a different ingredient and was not listed, but it is a pesticide.

Of course the vet is going to say that. Just like when you take your baby and they get vaxxed. "Oh, it can't be the vaccine".

Great information, thank you for posting. When my two cats were 8 months old, I treated them with a commercial flea medicine. I did it a second time, a month later. I found your page, and several others, that address putting toxic chemicals on our pets. I now vacuum frequently and spray my house with a natural flea treatment. No more chemicals on or in my cats!

Effective for me is to keep my dog area grass extremely short and bagged up grass clippings, my theory is that the area is to dry for fleas to reproduce, not sure but I stopped using flea and tick meds 5 years ago without issue, but at the same time my house did not have any fleas either and with new carpet and tile floors. Years ago I applied flea and tick meds to a 12 pound female jack russell and she went temporarily deaf for 2 weeks from the application. We have got to find other solutions for our pets and humans alike. Chemical companies rarely do studies on the long term effects of their products. Treat your pets like family because they are❤️

The reactions our pets are having from these flea/tick medications are heartbreaking! The vet sent us home from our first appointment, for our 4 month old rescue, with a "welcome bag" with a free toothbrush, a free toothpaste sample, and a free simparico trio sample. 10 days after the simparico trio our Lily began waking up 3-5 times a night with what we thought were vivid night terrors. Our vet prescribed us benedryl to help her sleep, then rimadyl in case she was in pain, then trazodone for if it was anxiety, none of which fixed the nightmares. Finally they started happening in the evening while Lily was sleeping on the couch and we could see her reaction when she woke up. We realized she had a physical response as well. Loss of balance while trying to sit up and star gazing (neck goes back and looks at the ceiling), in addition to the immense fear response crying and yelping. We immediately reached out to an emergency vet clinic (not our primary vet) and they told us to bring her in right away as she was likely suffering from complex partial seizures. 3 nights in the ICU later, after multiple attempted discharges and readmissions through the ER, Lily has finally just made it through her first night back home with us seizure-free after being put on both Keppra and Phenobarbital. We're praying Lily continues to respond positively to the medication and doesn't go back to nightly cluser seizures. During the day and when not sleeping, Lily's the most perfect, beautiful puppy. This whole thing is BEYOND heartbreak. I need to remember to thank my vet for the "welcome bag". 😭

A huge thank you Rodney. You & Dr. B have helped SO much. I always share your videos. I have 11 dogs & lots of cats, we have no fleas, worms or ticks. I think a raw/bal diet, no toxins & a strong immune system are the key. 🥰 I live on a rural farm.
@eliakimjosephsophia4542

Renee a lot depends on where you live. For instance Lungworm is mostly on the east side of America, although has spread in Canada and the UK. In the UK, they think it is because people have been travelling with their dogs from one area of the country to another. In the UK, one in five foxes have the parasite, and there are different types of the parasite and some are fatal. I took my 6 month old puppy to a pedigree training session and when he came back I saw a flee on him for the first time. He'd been to the groomers the day prior, so there were no flees on him then, or prior to that evening. Has far as the fox lungworm parasite, he could've picked that up from anywhere, drinking from puddles, smelling an infected dog's poop, licking an infected snail or their trail, eating grass with the parasite. Big choice when it is in the rural areas, it spreads easily if people don't pick up their dogs stools, or get their dogs tested on a regular basis.

@@susan4981 Hi Susan. I follow Dr. Becker, Rodney Habib & follow Dana Scotts Dogs Naturally Magazine articles. I research. Here's my routine: *Feed raw/balanced diet. *Do a yearly detox with Dandelion or Milk Thistle tincture. *Feed appropriate natural suppliments according to the particular needs of that dog. I have a good natural vet to help with anything they need which is usually just heartworm testing since I do not feed heartworm prevention. *Feed organics...sauercraut & ground pumpkinseed to discourage parasites & support the immune system. *Feed Omega fatty acids from various sources to fight free radical damage. Sardines, coconut oil, flax seed oil, mct oil, etc... *I feed probiotics to build the immune system & digestive enzymes. *I feed apple cidar vinegar about 3 times per week. *I feed my home made bone broth & collagen to support joint health. Thats pretty much it other than feeding various natural suppliments for remedies. I do rescues who come to me with cancer, heart disease, lung disease, liver or kidney disease, seizure disorder, immune system problems & allergies. I've had great results. I was able to stop seizures in 2 of my dogs with a long history of them. 1 dogs had only 20% kidney function, the other had a little more kidney function. They were both healed. My liver failure dig is healed. The lung disease & heart disease digs are incredibly improved. They each get natural suppliments for those conditions. I do 2 more things: *They are isolated on my property. I am rural. I do have bears, mountian lions, cyotes, racoons, skunks & opossums. *They get no exposure to chemicals, shampoos, commercial or processed foods, no fertilizers, air freshners, household cleaners, bug sprays, automotive stuff, no flea/tick/wormers, no vaccines, no commercial veterinary products... *

@@reneeolson4881 wow you do a lot! That's great! So what do you do for treatments in the house and yard? I'm trying to go all natural but it's hard to find what is truly safe for cats and dogs. "I have both". Every one says something different. My vets and their personnel think I'm a horrible pet parent because I don't overload with vaccines and flea topics. I'm neglecting them. I have recently started using coconut oil on them for fleas, and diatomaceous earth and Dawn dish detergent for the yard and house. Mostly Dawn dish detergent for inside I don't really like the diatomaceous earth because it makes such a mess and I want to be safe with it so still trying to research what to do about the house and the yard pretty much but that's about the only thing that I have searched and discovered that's safe. Still trying to figure it out about the Heart Guard remedy and the outside dogs around their areas to keep mosquitoes off of them and get everyone off of Heartgard but I know my vets will be very upset with me.

I am also of the opinion that the use of spot-on treatments depends heavily on the environment in which one lives. Here in the Bavarian Forest, we have a tick hotspot. The likelihood of the animal and the human getting infected with a tick-borne disease is much higher than the risk posed by using a spot-on treatment. It's just the way it is here. During the peak season, we find around 20-30 ticks on an untreated animal, especially after a single walk (!) in the woods. With the spot-on treatment, it might be just 1 or 2 ticks that can be easily removed from the fur. Biological remedies are of no use. It's not like we haven't tried alternatives. A friend of mine now has Lyme disease because of a tick bite like that. I try to limit the use of spot-on treatments to three times a year, but as the tick population worsens here every year, it's challenging.

As a retired animal control officer of 27 years on the job, I have always had Bloodhounds, and they require a mile long walk every day. I live on a farm in Virginia that has a healthy population of deer. Some years I have returned home from that walk having discovered as many as thirty deer ticks on me and or my dog. (I always wear Khaki colored pants and stop about every three minutes to take a quick look at the legs of the pants, often seeing deer ticks that I have picked up. Have been walking my dog in these fields for at least thirty years and have discovered an amazing phenomenon that has never failed. It's hard to believe I know, but it is absolutely true. My bloodhounds head (the top) is light brown, and I find that if I examine the top of her head about every three minutes when we get home I will see a/or several deer ticks that have come to the surface (on top of her hair), and can easily be picked off and killed. I look for about a half hour after we get home. Sometimes of course I find none, but I find that if she has picked up any deer ticks they will present themselves EVERY TIME. Does not work for dog ticks, but deer ticks Yes. I find that if one day I am not diligent about this process, she will have a swollen deer tick somewhere on her in a day or two. As you know, deer ticks are so small that you will not find them under the fur until they swell up with blood. But if I take the time and pay attention to her head when we get home I will spot EVERY deer tick that she has picked up. AMAZING

It’s all about the risk/benefit assessment, and that is something that each person needs to decide on with their vet, taking into consideration their local risk factors and lifestyle choices. For us, we live in an area with high rates of Lyme disease, and a few other nasty things that we, the dog, and the indoor cats could get from any ticks brought into the house after a walk in the nearby forest. One of the dogs at the park got Lyme disease from an early season tick, before they started their nexgard for the year, so we have assessed the risk of tick bourn disease to be very high with a high likelihood of having lifelong health complications, and after talking with the vet have kept up the monthly treatments of the tick prevention medication year round so that we don’t get Lyme disease from an unseasonably warm weekend walk in the woods like that poor dog from the park did.
@treasuretrovel3816
@treasuretrovel3816 Год назад
I agree with you that it is about risk to benefit depending on where someone lives. I disagree with you, however, that a dog owner "needs to decide on with their vet...." I disagree that the vet's opinion should play a role given that vets are brainwashed by big pharma in vet school to actually believe that there is no risk to any of these products even when the statistics show otherwise. For those vets who are able to think outside the box and still deny that there are any side effects, well, they are just after profit.

I found Springtime Supplements-Garlic Chews for animals. 2 dogs of my dogs eat it willingly, and 2 of them I have to put in their mouth to swallow. They keep the smell of garlic on their skin (not noticeable to me) and works as a repellent. It keeps the mosquitos off too. I do not give my pets any meds at all. I also make non cooked, dog cookies, containing DE (use like flour). Usually, a combination of DE and virgin Coconut Oil, with pumpkin or chicken broth or anything else they like as flavoring and are not allergic to. Keep in the freezer til used. I have a pond in the yard and deer and other wildlife here, Lots of ticks. Very few ticks bite and if they do, they usually die on the skin, unless they just got there. I am a big believer in Garlic. I also eat garlic daily and have had ticks on me, they have always been dead when pulled off. Good luck.

I don’t even vaccine my dog anymore once I discovered that with a blood test we are able to know if the pet need a vaccine or not, so that’s what I’m doing every year with him: blood test! It’s been 3 years and the result is that he doesn’t need vaccines! I discovered the blood test thing from Doct. Karen Becker. Too many pets are dying because they are over vaccinated and it’s all because of those little pieces of papers that we called “money”.

I watched my neighbor's dog go from this sweet girl to a vicious beast. If my neighbor so much as touched her she was shoeing clear signs of aggression. He gave her bravecto every 3 months, including through our Canadian winters.. Unfortunately, she was snatched by a coyote a few years ago but I cannot imagine how aggressive she would be today. I tried telling him to stop the bravecto a couple years prior and he refused. He now has a border collie, aka dog with MDR1 gene, so I've been terrified that this dog is going to end up seizing. Luckily, he has never given this dog these treatments and finally believes me when I say I haven't had a flea problem in almost 15 years

This is understood and grateful to post - I agree 1000% as my dog over the years developed face seizures - eventually they went away but agree most probably due to the Frontline . I switched mostly using Revelution - . I can't go with the oils..my dog stinks, he becomes increadibly "gooey", wet looking and just unpleasant. I hike in canyons alot so the dirt just gets all over him. I still use Revelution as it is the one that came out years ago and I can't buy it in states so order it over seas. What I do do is take Becker's advice and instead of going "over the weight"..which is what I used to do..ie. if my dog is 80lb Id by the one that went up to 110lb (to cover him) - now I buy LESS his weight..new dog is 55/60 so I buy the one that maxes at 45 and I go as long as I can..for me I went 2 months last time. She mentioned that true to most Vets and medical people they want your money (not all vets but we are seeing more and more people all about money) espeically "pharma" - so the every 30 days..I stretch out. The issue I have is Im not even certain we need to keep doing it over and over ..as I sometimes let my cats go months and they are fine but they are also mostly inside. So that's my 2cents. So far so good with the Revelation..my cats and dog seem fine. I also feed raw, fresh water, NO VACCINES of any kind and recently stop spay/neuter after I watched Dr. Beckers heartfelt video on spay neuter. To this point (I realize a different topic)..my new dog (female) stressed about not spaying due to blood, other dogs coming around..very minor adjustment. Just like we women people take care and have to make adjustments for our "time"..I simply watch her more. I have never experienced any issue with other dogs (NEVER) - I do have a good private back yard (2 gates)..but even walking she never seems to have issues being attacked by male dogs at all. Since she is crated and kept in her own private area and she cleans herself good never an issue with blood either. That and she only goes in heat twice a year..easy peasy. And she is healthy, and beautiful

What is your raw? Are all your cats and dogs fed raw? Is the the secret to being flea and tick free?! I'm desperate, my fur babies are starting to have issues with that and I don't want to harm them with products, but I don't know what else to do!
@Goldenhawk583
@Goldenhawk583 Год назад
@@susan4981 I will make no claims, but I have a mastiff that will be 2 years old in november. I have never used a tick medication, and in total.. she has had 1 tick in 2 years. We have plenty of ticks in this area, I live in the countrysaide, lots of tall grass and woods. She has been fed raw since weaning, and she has never been sick. Fleas and ticks are more likely to go on animals with health issues. Dogs and cats fed raw seems to be healthier. So by personal observation.. yes, it makes a difference to feed raw. I live in norway, we have brands here of frozen, raw dog and cat food. Its even cheaper than kibble:P

And make no mistake, when you put spot on fipronil on your dog, it is infusing into your skin and that of every member of your family when you pet your dog. Some have speculated that pregnant women are harming their developing babies by being exposed to spot ons on their dogs. May be a link to the rise in autism or the autism may arise in a young toddler who interacts with the dog. Fetuses, toddlers and kids have developing brains so these chemicals would be expected to be more harmful to puppies and young humans.
