I went to natural flea treatment 3yrs ago quite successfully. We live in TX & it had just warmed up. My husband treats the yard regularly but hadn't started yet since winter. It was a super rainy week & we waited for a break in the weather to wash the dog & treat the yard. I have been on top of cleaning & all the things because my dog & I are both allergic to flea bites. I will get 20 bites & my husband has none😑 One beautiful afternoon, my dog spent a few hours outside; I had been spraying regularly & spraying +brushing him. I forgot about diatomaceous earth & the situation blew up. You MUST treat the carpets & do ALL the things or you will never be rid of them. It's like groundhog day- EVERY day is spring cleaning. My house is super clean. Stepped up my game today with diatomaceous earth. Seems to control it pretty quickly. I bathed the dog while my hubby did the yard... Im somewhere between - cut off my feet or burn down the house; neither are good options. Seems to be improving thsnk God😇
It ( diatemasous earth) doesnt repeal them, it dries them out once they get it on them ! We use that DE in our horse corrals too. It dries and actually cuts up the fly eggs and maggots.
Do not use very much at all. It may help but when your pets or you breathe it in. The powder is in refined form. It will slowly overtime cause respiratory issues
I live in the country, and during the summer, fleas are relentless! I have an elderly dog with kidney disease, so she gets a monthly topical that takes care of fleas, heart worms, and all the other worms. My Boston Terrier pup gets Simparica Trio. I hate the thought of chemicals on them or in them, but I gotta admit the treatments are highly effective. When I was trying natural and holistic methods, my dogs were in misery being ambushed by fleas. I’m scared to take them off of something that is working so well.
Love the fact that there are people out there that care for ALL pets and share the information. Thank you for that. I stopped years ago using common flea and tick medicines. I used diatomaceous earth as well, for years now, and it works really good, with no side effects.
I use diatamaceos earth neem organic peppermint lavender mct oil and distilled water to spray my girls . The powers that be know there products are harmful to our animal family. Like big pharma they sell us things to make us sick food water everything toxins in everything soap powder toothpaste you name they been killing us for years the vet just the same for our animals 😢
How do I apply this to huskys fur. Rose has thin fur she's a rodesian. No problem but the boys r huskys and they get soaked with the hose and it doesn't even wet the low level of fur. Do I need to spray the low level only
Hi Rachel! I’ve been looking for a natural alternative for a very long time so I was so happy to see that you did a video on this. Looking a little bit more into this brand the reviews are not that great… Does this brand really kill and repel fleas and ticks on your dogs?
These products might work in areas where fleas & ticks are rare, but in deep woods Alabama, we have so many deer that ticks are a constant problem. I keep my dogs on an oral flea/tick medication year round & have had no issues.
Hey Rachel! So I'm here in Texas. Where the weather is weird as you well know since you lived in Austin. I was using wondercide but my pup ended up having tapeworms each month so I felt like I was forced to start using advantage II... I felt so guilty! I literally cried putting it on her. With that being said, I'm happy that I found this video. I am going to order kin and kind and use that all 12 months and the advantage II topical during our flea active months. Thanks for all that you do for us pet parents! Oh have you ever used four-legger in between bath sprays? There is a lemongrass and a lavender... Since those are natural pest repellents, i was wondering if I could also have those in rotation?
I bought that shampoo. One flew out of the tub. I thought that was it. Then I did a comb through and found out it was one out to the 15 that was on him after he dried. That shampoo didn’t too much for him
Serious question here! The alternative natural product you recommend is NAYKED and I see eucalyptus as their main ingredient. I thought eucalyptus is toxic for dogs. Is that false?? Id love your insight on this as I see different answers on Google.
Hi Rachel,I do believe the amber collar would work again amber is a tree resin not a stone a some may think. Also in the UK we have a brand called stinky stuff 100% natural you may want to look at, I just bought this for my dog as I was horrified at the fact of the pesticides in products, stinky stuff also does horses chickens cats and dogs just incase anyone is interested
I found a flea on my dog. I picked it off, squeezed it with my fingers as hard as I could, and it did not die. Instead, it jumped out of my fingers into the air. You’re telling me that wearing an Amber necklace is going to repel fleas?
D.E.(diatomaceous earth) is a very fine and sharp particulate that can cause respiratory issues, damage tissue if inhaled, and irritate the nose and mouth. It is a great natural defense for outside, in areas where your pets won't be sniffing around. It is not a good idea to sprinkle D.E. in your floor or dog's bed. My job requires me to wear gloves and a respirator at work whenever we work with D.E.
I love that you make this type of content I love that thank you I gave a question for like a video idea how many or much patties to give your dog if you choose to give raw meat patties
I have my new puppy, Pickles, a mini goldendoodle, and he's a lil black fluff ball. I have been really worried about ticks, thank you so much for this! I'm a herbalist, and when he's older I'd love to go foraging with him. This was make me able to!
I have a question we are feeding my 13 week old golden-doodle 3 times a day and sometimes she won’t eat all of her food should I be worried about it if she does not eat her food every time? Love your videos so much!💕
How long have you had her? From what I’ve researched if you just got her and she’s still getting comfortable then yes that’s normal. You also could try feeding a little less 4 times a day. It’s recommended to feed puppies younger than 6 months 4 times a day, then 3 times after 6 months and I think you can go down to 2 after a year. I don’t have a lot of experience but from the research I’ve done that’s what everyone says. Hope I helped if not I’m sorry!
@@AwesomeMan2696 she explains in more detail on her site, but it's basically because the garlic is toxic if taken in extremely large doses. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like they can eat it in smaller doses.
Which out of these products do you recommend and will also work as a preventive for at least a couple more days! I’ve used many flea shampoos it works but only works for that wash and that wash only! My dog goes outside the following day and guess what she has them again on her. Please I need something that would work good.
Thank you for the great non-toxic options. I tried the amber. I thought it was useless. As for the diatomaceous earth...I will apply it directly on my dogs skin if I see some fleas nesting on her. Sheltie's have a lot of fur that gives them ample hiding spaces.
@@watermelonandcookie Diatomaceous earth food grade, applied for too long, can dry out a pet's skin. The dust cloud can also enter your airways, as well as your pet's, and irritate your lungs.
It does work.... In all honesty, I use Simparica Trio also. I do it year-round with no issues. I came here to find other alternatives but in all honesty, if something has to be added daily is it really practical? My dog travels with me and tends to stay inside.
There was a video w/ a vet that you did that mentioned garlic as a way to protect them from fleas. I think that was you. Was it? If so , can you direct me to that video, pls ? If you can easily find it. If not , I totally understand. Have a blessed day. Update: I found it. It showed up on my feed. 😊
Soo… I don’t know what to say… “it works” it’s a very general statement and the proof is not clear. Did the dogs have flees before using these products? Is there a comparison between dogs who use this and dogs who don’t in the same environment? And the ear infection as a result to allergy to flees? There are so many other causes for ear infections, how was the conclusion made that it’s due to a flea bite? How were the other possible causes eliminated. It takes some work to determine causality. Maybe it was due to the food grade diatomaceous earth, which lists skin irritation, breathing issues and a number of other side effects. Maybe the dog scratched after being exposed to it and it encouraged an ear infection. Anyways… just as companies who put pesticides into pets medicine are looking for a profit, so do RU-vidrs who monetize their videos. As such, please take everything with a grain of salt. Please note how many times the store is mentioned in this video, where more profit comes from. It’s nothing wrong with that, everybody is entitled to make a living, but it does open the door to questions about conflicting interests.
You don't have to buy any of that stuff.. whenever you give you dog a bath just use your shapoo of preference, and do 50/50 shampoo and apple sider vinegar. Also make your own spray Just boil in low heat 1 lime juice and a handful of thyme. Once tou see the oils in the water let it cool. Add to a spray bottle 50/50 with apple sider vinegar. Spray that as a repellant....keeps your dogs coat nice and shiny too
I love your videos. I never actaully had a dog until 2 days ago and I been watching your videos for years because I love your dogs and learning of what you do in your videos. Now I have a question, could you make a video on how train my dog to know its name I didn't realized that until today hahaha 😅😆... thanks again !!!
You can hold the treat to your face and call there name then when your dog looks you can reward them with a treat hope I helped this worked for my dog overtime she or he will realize what he or she’s name is hope I helped
Question: I've bought the kin + kind flea and tick spray. I'm reading that peppermint oil is toxic for dogs when applying and ingesting a large amounts. What are your thoughts??
I also live in Florida and I was doing pro heart 6 I really don't want to but mosquitos thrive here . if anyone knows something that really works please let me know thanks ❤️
Thankful for this info. I hate using those pesticide products on my dogs. My vet pushes their use and heartworm prevention. Do you use a heartworm preventative? Also what's your opinion of Lyme vaccine?
This is so informative. Ive used Diatomaceous Earth for years successfully however, this year there is an epidemic of Allergies here in Australia. My dog had to get a dermatitis shot and a topical. Im glad I found your video. Thank You💚 Love the products are Cruelty free bc Im Vegan -( self defence comes into it though. When our companions suffer bc of the constant attack- we have to put a stop to it)
I’ve been using frontline for a year and a half for my now 2 yo labradoodle. It stopped working and we’ve had a flea problem for a month now. The vet prescribed simparica trio. I’m reluctant to give it to him after reading all the warnings and opinions. Most reviews are good though. How do you feel about this product? Thanks.
Thanks for this, I’m picking up my blue-tick beagle in 17 days. Was worried about using the vets stuff, which is called ‘advantage’ here. I’d like to try more natural products for my puppy, I know I wouldn’t want pesticides on my skin 😟 About the amber stones, yes! As everything is made of energy, stones and crystals are energy beings too! Amber is a powerful healer and cleanser of the body, mind and spirit. ... Amber clears depression, stimulates the intellect and promotes self-confidence and creative self-expression. It encourages decision-making, spontaneity and brings wisdom, balance and patience to the wearer. It has the ability to absorb negative energy and vibrations from the body. It is also used for stimulating regeneration and healing of the soft tissue, detoxification, heart problems, arthritis, headache, and pain. 💖💖💖
Feel terrible SAD for that Puppy...you unfortunately have selfishly decided to Get!!‼️🆘️👹 You have shown your ENDLESSLY & INTRINSIC UNCHANGEABLE LEVELS of ""Selfishly Untrusted Personality ....
I getting a puppy soon so I am watching you I have been for a long time and you are so much help and I am so prepaid for a puppy thank you so much.I love you so much
Isn't diatomaceous earth dangerous for dogs to inhale though? I read that it can harm their lungs, even food grade. Edit: I also read that several essential oils are toxic to dogs, and of course cats as well. It's like we have no safe option :/
Hi ;) I love your videos:) so my baby Nala started itching a lot more and we found a flea on her and took it out. What should I do next for a natural way to get them out? I really don’t want to use frontline. Any tips?
Have fleas at the moment Doing all the cleaning and natural products etc never had fleas before I have four dogs and struggling to get rid of them How long does it normally take I’m in Australia
I used 4 or 5 boxes of borax, to get rid of fleas, in the home, on wooden floors. Ieft it down for 5 days at a time. Lots of vacuuming & mopping with pinesol..
TIP For those that give their dogs chemical treatments (no judgment) - You can get FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth (I use Redlake brand from feedstore) & put it on your pets food 1x daily. My 70lb dog gets 1/2 tsp. My husband & I take a heaping tsp in 8oz water & chug it 1st thing while coffee is brewing. This will bind toxins that we are ingesting in food/drinks. We can't really trust commercial kibble is 100% clean; the tap water isn't clean anywhere in the US. The level of toxins in our medications, personal products & food is off the charts! We have never felt better since using this. My friend said after 1 month she passed parasites🤢 & her tummy troubles 100% stopped!! Foodgrade still works for fleas & bugs & is safe to rub into your pets fur (if dry skin isn't an issue)
Where can I find shampoo, I don’t want to put in my email to see products you use , I can’t really tell which ones you use? My dog an I are suffering from stick fleas. I don’t know where they are coming from I used all natural products, oils , all of it now he’s scratching so bad he has hot spots, I’m at my wits end🥴. I can’t find the shampoo your posting amazon is completely different , yours doesn’t even show shampoo when you click on three of your info. I can’t find any where says organic not even on their site????
Hi Rachell, I'm one of your followers. I need to order the natural shampoo and conditioner for fleas and ticks, but I am not able to do so. I have my account too, but when I write it on the search it says it cant be found. I dont know what to do. I try amazon but they dont have that specific brand
Yep....I am guilty to give my dog topical med since she was 2yrs old! we quit doing that when she was 10yrs old. I just put one drop of Oregano oil on the back of her body. Unfortunately, she had Diabetes around 11yrs old, I think that's from topical med all those early years, vaccines too.

Love Love and learn a lot from your incredible advice and multitude of subjects. This looks like a great product; however I checked the ingredients and although all good, Rosemary is a no go with our Standard poodle. A word of caution our std poodle is allergic to the Rosemary ingredient; I avoid all treats with Rosemary in them. She actually gets seizures!! It could be unique to this pure breed but I try to replace rosemary with other herbs like peppermint or green tea. Do you have a suggestion for a flea/tick spray without Rosemary?
A friend of mine has 2 mini doodles. She told me the cost of their yearly check up. Over 900$! The main cost? The pill for fleas ticks and heart worms. Being a dog owner for decades I have never bought heart worm/flea/ tick pills or spent that much money at the vet. I am guilty of using the topical stuff and am now going all natural on what I use. Thanks for the info. 😊
I took my dog to the pet store then did a little inspection a week later and spotted 1 flea and didn’t have flea soap sooooo I used dawn dish soap ☠️ I mean it worked but yeah getting some of this soap
I was told to give my two month old golden doodle k9advantix 2. I gave him one of the two doses (next is given in one month). How soon can I switch to these natural products? Should I wait until the next dose is due? I comb him daily. I just got him a few days ago and want to give him the best life! ❤😊
Credelio is much safer but perfer natural. Advantage, nexguard, Bravecto, and Seresto collars are just a few that are bad. Brewers yeast 1 tsp. for every 20 pounds for 20 days. If I just want get rid of fleas I vacuum take dog outside for a hour or so and use Capstar. It's just one little pill kills fleas quickly my favorite, as I don't have to use everyday. Keep dog clean and brushed don't use flea shampoo if giving a strong pill such as Advantage. A medicated one bath such a Mesaleb for itching or flecking or irritation caused but fleas.
@@Valerie-MomofanAngel I guess I was looking more for the brand he gave his dog :) I get garlic is a good deterrent but I don’t really want to mess with it even in small doses as it’s toxic to dogs in bigger quantities. I found a product without it :)
I put a Tablespoon in a gallon of water. My 110lb English Blockhead Labrador easily drinks that in one sitting, lol. I also 2 smaller American/English Labs whom I also do this for. It also keeps their coats shiny. ☮️
