Some people just judged the musk collection too quick . IMO everything is a hit ! Loved everything except paradise soil since first day! After giving some time even Paradise Soil is now a big love for me !
Yeah Paradise Soil was my least favorite too... maybe I need to spend more time with it... I will try and do individual reviews of the whole musk collection eventually💪🐏
I’m debating on getting PS or FF. What about PS made it less appealing initially? What changed that makes it more appealing? Especially considering the price
I love your reviews of Areej Le Dore more than any other perfumer. It's clear that Russian Adam isn't sponsoring you nor do you favor Areej Le Dore for profit. You love Areej Le Dore because Russian Adam is a brilliant perfumer using the highest quality sourced real ingredients. No French perfume house can touch what Russian Adam is doing. The best oud. The best deer musk. The best sandalwood. The best Taif Rose... and yes, skunk oil. Take that, Chanel! It's great that Forbidden Flower is still available for purchase. When you deep dive into perfumes of the past, they are mostly impossible to find. Because I'm a newbie, I would think that a perfect summertime fragrance would be Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower. It's an opposite kind of perfume than Areej Le Dore's Forbidden Flower. If both perfumes were in front of me, I couldn't tell you why one is better than another or if it's only a matter of preference. I've got so much to learn.
Really what I learned is the more you learn the more you really learn about yourself... because Ultimately there is only one nose that will love or hate what you are are wearing... that is your own 👃🏻
@@RamseytheRam As usual, you're so kind. When it comes to preferences, be it art, perfume, pick your poison, most people say, "I know what I like." That's not true. For most people it's, "They like what they know." What you're doing here is providing an education, attempting to expand our knowledge, albeit difficult to do through an implacable computer screen where we can't smell a thing, but it's noble what you're doing nonetheless.
@@davidhunternyc1 That is so true. Wise words, for sure. It's a shame it's often ruined by some preening and ruffling feathers. We all start somewhere, man. I once wore cheap colognes myself and the first time I smelt Zoologist's stuff (especially Rhino), I was literally retching. Training does that. Smell stuff, as much as you can and you will learn. Fast forward 8 years, I'm wearing the darn thing with confidence and today I'm rocking Nishane's Afrika-Olifant which also gets a lot of negative reactions (too late for Forbidden Flower, sadly!). As Ram said, trust your nose, always.
Another great review that is spot on in describing this wonderous creation. Personally I love it’ & as you said” cannot be experienced in the Designer or Niche world. 🙏
Great review Ramsey! I love animalics, very few perfumers can match Russian Adams skill when it comes to blending naturals. Skunk oil really isn't supposed to "stink", it's a defensive chemical that disorients instantly, it worked quite well on my Britney Spaniel and myself. It makes perfect sense to use minute amounts in perfumery! Scent of the day: Rahasanai by Prin Lomros. Cheers!
Thanks from Perú, so nice to know about people deeply touched and thrilled by perfumery, not selling shit, not pulled by trends or bussines, please keep on this. Your trip is truly respected. In this digital chaos of reviewers and influencers youtubers, your work is a real path, thanks again.
What a beautiful citrusy bright green musky then powdery bliss.. @sciencebear scored us a bottle and it is out of this world beautiful perfume.. we are huge Areej fans. Thank you for the Education, we’re all on a whole other level because of you Brother., RESPECT🤘🏻
Apparently someone said to me that the raani flower (aka night-blooming jasmine or poisonberry) is probably contributing to the animalic/indolic nature here, as it does have what some would call a "dirty" smell. Not to mention he used jasmine sambac here too. Only one of the collection I got to get my nose on (grabbed a bottle out of sheer curiosity) and I ended up loving the stuff. I got reactions from the opening but once the grapefruit and "skunky" dies down later on, it gets a pretty unanimous positive reaction. :)
I've been wearing this on special occasions and I love this fragrance. I'm not sure if it's the skunk and sandalwood or something else but for me the biggest note I get is powdery (and it's amazing). The musk and citrus blend support this really well too. I'm probably going to get a backup bottle at some point.
Raiden is the charakter!😄 awesome review ram, I love the Musk Collection, would like to buy CC and RB but nowhere to find... SOTD Lost Tribe Lola's Lemonana✌️
Ramsey, the Areej Musk Collection, as a collection, needs time to appreciate. It needs time in the bottle for Forbidden Flower in particular, more than the others. The initial lime and grapefruit, with that animalic skunk, take time to roll off, which at about the six week mark, is now evident. When I got it, the jasmine was very much overshadowed by the opening. I had the early impression this musk collection would take time to come into its own and some of these will become highly appreciated in the future. Royal Barn and Cuirtis seem to have already made lofty impressions on the community, but, with time, so will the others and those who passed up on the collection entirely or sold some or all of them to the secondary may well regret having done so. Ramsey, thanks for all your reviews and interviews and the passion and knowledge you share. Your authenticity is well appreciated.
Great video as always! Forbidden Flower was easily my favorite from the collection. Russian Adam managed to make a skunk scent so appealing it's pretty mind-boggling.
Waiting for my Royal Barn to arrive, your reviews persuaded me to go for that! Couldn't go for the full set cuz the classic set cost me a lot and few Ensars as well. Now after watching your review of FF I'm seriously tempted as it's still available! By the way managed to hunt down a 1990s sealed Antaeus bottle (your review made me to go for that hunt, thanks a lot man!)....damn how incredibly brilliant it is and I can't believe my luck.... Drydown of Antaeus reminded me of War & Peace II a lot... Adams definitely took some inspiration from there in my opinion! Keep the videos coming man, we are lucky to have you 🙏..
Hey Ramsey thank you for great review. Not very experienced in Areej le Dore, tell me if i blind buy this in term of animal notes, skunk, flower aromas, what can i expect? Or maybe some parallel with other dirty florientals
I don't know if I can describe it any better than how I did in the video... it's not that animalic IMHO... although I have the actual skunk oil and that stuff is 🦨
@@RamseytheRam yeah i watched it few times but would be concentrated on each parts you describing so kind of would forgot to imagine it as whole. Some even say that is too citrus for ALD fans and more of feminine one leaning. Thanks once again. But overall brave idea to incorporate skunk oil
I never doubted your honest reviews R. Russian Adam and Sultan Pasha are true masters of the trade, they do not do this for hype, they do it out of the shear appreciation of the art of parfumery.
I will buy for sure this one… for some reason , sound appealing for me. This Halloween I plan to be a Victorian Dracula vampire so I think my bottle of war and peace 2 will be the perfect scent for that for the first time I will spray it to use it … I spray it on my arm for me only but for the first time I think I’m ready to use it being seated there for a lot of time 😂 .
Great video - I have a full bottle and think it is class leading cannabis and a summer banger because of the zinginess that runs through the entire life of the fragrance. It is so unique as a summer scent and you are right that the grapefruit note is so bright and realistic. Not sure why it isn't sold out yet. BTW: thiol is pronounced thigh-all and not thee-all...from a chemist! Also sulphuric is not the right word here, it is sulphurous.
The most unique of the line for me. As a great lover of animal notes, I miss this, I just can't imagine it, despite your impeccable review. During my journey I had the pleasure of smelling every single animal note present in nature, except for muskrat and skunk oil. I think it would be interesting to see a Russian Adam composition with all the animalic notes in it, like TSVGA's Fiona. However, in my opinion the hyrax tincture would drive you crazy. As soon as my finances allow it I'll send you some!
Gotta get samples straight from the Areej Le Dore website as soon as the collection is released.... you could probably blind buy something like forbidden Flower and love it since you have been loving florals lately
I've been waiting on your review of FF. As you put me on Areej and Sherwood, I only, or initially, want to hear your reviews first. Anyway, here's my review: This may be the most masculine floral that I own. The opening starts with a very realistic grapefruit that lasts throughout the duration of the experience. It is possible that the acidic smell that I think is the grapefruit, is really the acidic smell of the grapefruit early on, leading into the acidic smell of the lime in the base. Either way, I love that it's there. I get the jasmine and potentially the skunk, but the grapefruit/lime masks any indollic smell that's normally a turn-off for me. Even with the cedar and Sandalwood in the composition, this fragrance never falls flat. The sharp twang of the tumeric, vetiver, ginger, and lime keeps this fragrance lifted while being a dark, animalic floral at the same time. Beautiful!
SOLD, l be sitting on the Fence on this one ,then it slipped my mind as most things tend to do these days lol 😂, so I pulled the trigger just now , I really do enjoy the Shunk weed/ cannabis note and tart grapefruit, now adde the floral and base , it would be a complete outlier from Adam so gotta get this one , job done. Cheers buddy have a great day ✌️🙏👍
Got Royal Barn and Creme de la creme from this collection. Both are excellent! Forbidden flower tho.... Dry-down is fine, I would probably even buy it if all fragrance was just the dry-down.. But that opening orange note.. my my.. Hate it with passion lol :D Its hate per association. That smell is very similar to these cheap orange candy from my childhood that everybody gifted to people they don't actually like, because somebody who didn't like gifted it to them :D long story short after smelling probably 80% of what Areej has created over the years Forbidden Flower is the first one I would not wear even if I got it for free :)
Loved the review. Attention to detail Adam has on the bottle is next to none. I actually liked it more the more wear I gave. It’s a good floral leather.
You know I've never actually been in a horse and buggy? 🤔 Always wondered if the smells really do carry into the carriage. Or if Cinderella stepped out directly into a mound of sh**. In a glass slipper no less! 🥿 Oh dear. Now let's go dancing! 🤣 Props for another great take Ramsey.
Definitely wasnt a big fan of Forbidden Flower, intriguing but absolutely not for me. Didn't like Champa which smelled like a shoe shop to me, but Russian oud was nice if you can get past the barnyard oud. The chocolate accord though...
When I was a small child in the 90's, a skunk was attacked and killed by an animal right under the porch of my childhood home. Even after the carcass was removed, our family could smell that thing for what seemed like ages. It smelt like the DEA burning tons of confiscated marijuana next to a tire factory, and the factory caught fire. I think this is going to be a hard pass for me. 🤣
Yes!!! Been waiting for this one. I'm still claiming it as my favorite of the collection. Royal Barn and Cuirtis are outstanding, but there are other good options that hit similarly. But when you want florals and skunk juice? Just this. A one of a kind animalic executed to perfection. 🐏 🦆 🦨 SOTD Clandestine Laboratories Certo
You are spot on.... I can't think of any animalic skunk florals out there, you could maybe make the case Fiona but that has oud ... the lack of oud in Forbidden Flower makes it piercing and so legible
