It would incredibly hard to do better than that, wouldn't it? What a voice! I've been watching so many Aretha videos since she's been gone. I've never watched so much film and video and listened as much music by anyone else. She left us such a beautiful gift to enjoy for a long, long time by recording all that she did. A hundred years from now they will still be watching these videos.
I just cry listening to her sing like this. It’s like she’s tapped into something kind of other-wordly deep and powerful, just a master of it, in her element 100%
Soul, voice control, low notes, high notes and musical intelligence. The greatest singers have three or maybe four of those. Aretha Franklin had them all.
@@markdrinkwater1508 Whitney has a soulful voice, her low notes arent so low because obviously(soprano) but her late 90s 2000s lows are incredible….She has great high notes shes known for them and without nasally strain like others and her musical intelligence is unmatched….u have alot of accounts dont u🤣
@@diorrboyyyy I have one account you nut. Please stop putting mediocre singers in the same league as Aretha Franklin - Franklin tops every music poll as the greatest voice of all time. Try to accept this given truth instead of torturing yourself.
The way that every single second is appealing and perfect You're not just waiting for her to get to the "good part" The whole thing is at a level only she reaches The Greatest of all time
WOW!!! ReRe those vocals were just completely out of this world. The tone, clarity, strength, and the delivery, you sang your heart and soul out in the center of your voice. I'm 71 years old & I grew up singing in church & you diffidently brought your gospel bringings to the secular world, cause Aretha know she could take us to chuuuch!!!!!
Eddie Mae Wilkerson ur right im only 40 n i came across dis vid.woww.no wonder she da queen.she aint doing dat booty dance n all dat craziness now adays.she just belted n sang church style
Its a blessing to just simply press play and QUEEN ARETHA lives again over & over & over. There is will always be and never ever be again another Aretha. Nobody can sing and touch u like Aretha, I mean nobody!
I have always loved this song, but hearing her sing it in this style, in my opinion, is just as great, if not even better than the recorded version, and I rarely say that.
Watching the live performances from her Columbia period and then watching this is surreal. It's like she was in prison or her super powers were being suppressed and then she and they were unleashed in 1967.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! This is by far my FAVORITE recording of this song!! Wish I could download it and use it as a ringtone or just to add it to my song list!!
The tone deaf should not even attempt to listen to you tube HAHAHAHA ( yes I'm talkin bout the 4 of you) Lovin that Aretha!!!!!!!! And to all of those out there that are over 40 it is your duty to pass her on to the younger. I have
I ain't never, said ain't nev VAH, loved a woman's voice, the way that I, I love yours. If you have to go, Reathie, go knowing we all loved you from the bottom of our hearts.
+Shandra9000mail Yea ummm Diana may have been a more commercial success but Diana could never do the things Aretha could do vocally. Unless she practiced her ass off and that will be a lotta practicing she would have to do. Another thing is Diana basically married Motown so thats kinda another reason she was so popular. Berry Gordy was pushing that envelope. Other than that Aretha and Diana shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence. ARETHA........SINGERS SINGER DIANA.............ENTERTAINER
Shandra9000mail Yea Im not gonna lie Diana even went as far as pushing women to the side that she found as threats. Look at Gladys Knight's interview with Sway, and I know she and Patti Labelle had a long standing rivalry that they later on hashed out at Oprah's gala ball for the legends. Yes I know Aretha has had her fair share of rivalry (Patti, Roberta Flack, Sarah Vaughan, Mariah Carey, Tina and Dionne etc. )but that Diana played it real dirty. lol I saw Got to be Real and that was hilarious as hell. Dionne Warwick vs. Aretha and Diana
Its amazing how those white people sitting in the audience and they are just sitting there and not moved by this powerful, souful singer in their presence. That amazing to me.
I wouldn’t be able to compose myself if I were in the audience. She makes the hairs on my arm stand up every time. There is absolutely nothing she’s done that’s short of amazing!! And that’s an understatement.
On this date in 1967 {Mar. 4th} "Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it would peaked at #9 spent 11 weeks in the Top 100... Ranked 75th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1967 chart... Reached #1 on Billboard's R&B chart... Her 1st relased on the Atlantic label... The 1st in a string of 3 straight records by Ms. Franklin to make the Top 10; started with this one, then "Respect" {#1}, and finally "Baby I Love You" {#4}...
So much great music came out of the 60's and 70's its incredible. Whether you love Soul, Jazz, Funk, Rock, or all of them like me, everyone wishes they had grown up back then. That is pretty much a fact.
The studio tempo is more focused. But this slowed down version is NOT BAD for one of Aretha's most "church-y" sounding songs. Easily one of my favorite LIVE performances.
I wish I would've been around her time. I would've been chasing her, begging her to be with me. I had a HUGE crush on her as a child...lol. She is a GODDESS. Rest in Power my Empress.
She was so happy at this point because after dismal years at Columbia Records, which hadn't a clue as to what to do with her, she moved to Atlantic and scored an instant smash with this fabulous song, just the beginning of her long journey of success, fame and reward. Keep this preacher's daughter--a smart, talented, cultured, classy lady--in your prayers.
I remember hearing this song on a movie staring Chris Brown it was my first time hearing it i said wow i fell in love with the song especially the melody real rap
Aretha was easily the queen of Soul! As much as i love Gladys. Patti, Chaka, etc. However Aretha was the mold. Unapologetically soulful at a time when a lot of black artist tried to water down their sound.
