The referee completely saved Argentina from a sure loss with this error, preceded by a grotesque handball which should have been awarded a penalty (and at least a yellow card to Maradona), and a disproportionate punishment in the red card given to the Soviet player. Disgraceful.
The Swedish referee, Erik Fredriksson, completely saved Argentina from a sure loss (USSR obliterated Argentina two years before in Germany, with almost the same squads) and deserved first round elimination that day. Grotesque handball at 0:59 which should have been awarded a penalty (and at least a yellow card to Maradona), being the referee the best placed spectator, just a couple of meters away with nothing obstructing him from seeing it. A disproportionate punishment at 4:16 which lead to the red card given to the experienced Soviet player, Volodymyr Bessonov. The final touch being the referee's misleading attitude which completely confused everybody in the Soviet side (mainly Oleg Kuznetsov who kicked the ball back in anger) on the second goal given to Argentina at 6:58. This is one of the most disgraceful arbitrations in World's Cup history.
It's a clear penalty and red card for Maradona. If the referee gave a penalty to the Soviet Union, would Argentina reach the next stage ? Since they lost their first game vs. Cameron?
La mano de Dios olvidada, jajajaja... Hay que ser muy sinvergüenza para quejarse por esa final de 1990 también hubo mano de Giusti al minuto 8 del segundo tiempo contra Italia, debió haber sido expulsado mucho antes del gol argentino.

Уважаемый Игорь, слабой Аргентине? Действующему чемпиону мира, даже состав не будем перечислять? Какая сила? Хваленое Динамо К, в лице костоломов Кузнецова, Бессонова, Раца, Демьяненко, да и Заваров с Протасовым и Литовченко явно были не в лучшей форме... И если Аргентина - чемпион мира, и хоть как то можно отмазаться, то Румыния скромненькая по щам хорошо надавала и это тренерское поражение ВВЛ. Потому что Румыния переиграла на голову хваленых обладателей Кубка Кубков
хотя даже при такой игре наши имели моменты, при этом играя в 10-м... но реализовали их... На лицо отвратительная тренерская работа . Напротив же Аргентина с Румынией шикарно изучили игру сборной нашей... Особо выделялась медлительная оборона, да и опорная зона... Как только динамовские лобановские хваленные команды попадали на быстрые сборные и клубы только и оставалась, что получать красные и хватать игроков соперников за футболки
