Italy's defeat in World Cup 1990 was sweet poetic justice, for the way they had won the 1982 World Cup with the most brutal and dirtiest tactics ever !!
Semmai l'argentina arrivò in finale giocando sporco.
if talking like this about others makes you feel better, cleaner, and helps you from your own undoings, surely procured by `Italy itself...these monologues may well make sense. At least for you!
after this match Argentina arrived in the Final without a chance because, besides being physically exhausted, they were missing 6 starters...since that was not enough they were not given a sacrosanct penalty (foul by Matthäus on Calderon) and dulcis in fundus they were given a penalty to the Germans after a simulation by Völler (in this nobody beats the Germans who also won the Final of 74 thanks to a simulation by Hölzenbein and a fake penalty)
Argentina may well have set a record in this World Cup by playing against three countries that shortly afterwards ceased to exist, namely the USSR, Yugoslavia, and West Germany. Too bad they didn't face Czechoslovakia or it would've been four.
There were a lot of mistaken offside calls given against the Italians, the one @9:23 perhaps being the most significant because Schillaci had a good opportunity there if play had been allowed to continue, as it should have. I feel sorry for Zenga, he had a good tournament up until that goal, but crosses were a very weak point of his. Goycochea's fortunes, in contrast, peaked in this match as he did everything right and was one of the surprise heroes of the tournament. As a big fan of Baggio I can't help but lament that he wasn't on from the start, he had a positive impact when he came on and made things happen, combined well with other attacking players. A bit like at France '98, he was brought on late in what turned out to be the final game for Italy and did well, but not quite enough to score or create a goal.
You do know that schillaci's goal was offside, right? It's funny how you failed to mention that or the red cars he didn't show the Italians. There was a kick against ruggeri that was criminal.
I feel that the Italians during this WC had alot of refereeing decisions go there way when playing the games in ROME. The most notable decision was the disallowed goal by GRIGA in the Czech which would've made the score 1 - 1. Had the goal stood perhaps Baggio wouldn't have scored the wonder goal he did to make it 2 - 0. It's interesting to remember that if Italy had drawn 1 - 1 with the Czechs then they would have lost Rome advantage and moved to Bari to face Costa Rica and after West Germany in Milan. Also in the Ireland game the referee seemed bias towards Italy therefore he was trying to influence the game to them perhaps because of the 80,000 partisan Italian crowd in the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
@@jptributer I agree the the Schallaci goal was offside, also another strange thing about that game was referee Vatrout of France allowed the first period of extra time to rum for 8 minutes extra, I wonder if that was to help the Italians?
If the italy won the semis in 1990, italy definitely won the final against Germany, because italy never lost a single match in the world cup vs germany & the record was still phenomenon
