I saw your slogan , ''helping middle class nomad'' That is a unique vision you, guys have identified a great niche ,not everyone is rich it is no tlike the other channels that only Project themselfves for rich people who are looking a second option but for middle class income people persuing a secundary option just in case.
It is my understanding that, although the USA does not have a treaty with Argentina regarding taxes, USA citizens can file a Form 1116 (Foreign Tax Credit) when filing taxes, which is a dollar-for-dollar tax deduction on US taxes for each dollar Argetina charges. It was specifically designed to prevent double-taxation. The USA also does NOT tax Argentinian income under $120,000 (Foreign Earned Income Exclusion). There are also partial tax write-offs for housing, rent, utilities, and insurance for US citizens living abroad (Foreign Housing Exclusion). I don't think the double-taxation with US citizens living in Argentina is as scary as you portray. Correct?? It should not prevent US citizens from moving to Argentina.
I suspect that if a US Citizen was seeking another place to call home , if they have a decent income of perhaps $ 30,000 to $50,000 per year then your ideas would be great however, if the annual income is say $100,000 + then maybe Paraguay may be a better option as their Taxation on income is ( apparently ) lower moreover, i was told that a Citizen of Paraguay can easily live for part of the Year in : Brazil , Arg, Uruguay as well ( MERCOSUR trade group ) . I have also seen video’s suggesting that former Americans who have renounced their US Citizenship and have Argentine Citizenship and another Citizenship as well; the Tax Authorities in Arg do not investigate their income like the US or western EU Nation may do . I have also been told the Tax Authorities in Arg are not actively running after you for info all the time.
Great video! I've started considering Argentina in March of 2022 and went there for 6 months in October same year. Been staying here since November 2023 onwards this time around. Mostly agree with your points, but for permanent residency it's important to know that: 1. US Criminal Records (and marriage certificates) have to be APOSTILED! This is VERY important! Apolstile can ONLY be done in the US, you can NOT do it in the US Embassy (although you could notarize documents otherwise) 2. ALL US Documents have to be translated by a certified translator and "legalized" by a State entity
I've had permanent residency in Argentina since 2006. The golden era to be a US expat in Argenitna is WAY PAST!!! With inflation, the games the government is paying with the exchange rate,, the HORRIBLE crime... as I said, I'm set as far as permanent residency goes, ,but within a year, I'm going to be back in the US. There was a time when Argentina was a paradise for people with US income, but that time is long past, and I long for the peaceful predictable life of the US. I'm outa here.
Today I learned that Argentina does not have a double taxation treaty with USA. Thanks! I wasted a lot of time looking into residency in Argentina but that is a show stopper.
What if you just have a chunk of cash from selling a home and want to retire in Argentina? I wouldn't have income in either country but plenty of money between the sale of the house and savings to retire.
The New President of Argentina is a Libertarian and will ABOLISH most Taxes so please do not Discredit Argentina just Because You Want To SELL Paraguay!!
@@NomadEliteHi is the residency program also for africans like myself? I am a Ghanian and want to relocate to argentina through one of these programs: Investment of $20,000 into an existing business Rentista visa Birth tourism Kindly give me more informations about them and the price for the whole process Thanks.
@@oscarcoronel4175please tell me is Argentina $20,000 investment visa still available? Does Argentina really approve rentista and investment visas for Africans?
You may not have to pay taxes to both governments, if you qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion; plus there are further options that you can utilize.
@@NomadElite The AI said that since my passive income is US-sourced (VA pension, SSR and also oil companies operating in the US), this income would not qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion. The AI said that condos in Paraguay are ~$80,000, rents in city center are ~$400. Thanks for your insights. I had favored Argentina due to the political experiment of the new president, but can't afford double income tax. I have a TESL certificate and wonder if I could teach English in Paraguay.
You can theoretically apply for a passport after 2 years of "full-time resideny" (is that 6 months +1 day per year?)but the thing that swayed me away from it was that after 12 cumulative months of Arg res, you are req'd to pay wealth tax on your total assets IIRC. Do you know of any ways to get the passport without making Argentina your perm home and without triggering this wealth tax?
If comparing the costs between Buenos Aires Argentina to Asuncion Paraguay - is one city clearly cheaper than the other one regarding cost of living (especially looking at rental costs and food)? Or are they both similarly priced? thanks!
It completely depends on the neighborhood you're looking to live in. The cost of living is similar in Asuncion and Buenos Aires; there is not much of a difference.
is there any more details on what the proof of income can exactly be? if someone has money in crypto is there a way to convert that into one of those options? thank you.
Does Argentina tax retirement income? I am a resident of Colombia where they do tax world-wide income but not Social Security retirement income if it is the ONLY source of income. I ask becaue the Rentista visa seems to be for all types of income.
Good video. You mentioned that for residency a person would need the equivalent of a minimum monthly wage of an Argentian - and that would not be increased even for a couple. Do you know approximately how much that is at the moment? And what was Argentina like during the pandemic? Were vaccines manditory or was it voluntary? thanks.
To qualify for the Rentista visa, you're looking at roughly $1,200 in monthly income. The same holds true for couples. You may need more income if you show up with a large family.
Does this mean (?) that a US '''retired''' expat - must pay taxes on Social Security income - if - 'that' is all the income we have - - - and desire to live in Argentina long term retired ? Not many other countries tax SS income on US expats ! --?-- Say it ain't so ! ! ! --?--
Argentina is more restrictive with gun ownership. Paraguay have more freedom when it comes to gun ownership. You can have permit to carry if you pay taxes in Paraguay. But guns and ammo are quite expensive compared to USA.
There were already a lot of German and Swiss immigrants in Argentina well before WW2. Bariloche was already a beautiful, Swiss-looking, chocolate-making enclave before any bad guys showed up!
