I’m English and I hated watching this as a kid but now looking back I simply salute Diego maradinna as the greatest player to walk the earth - his wonder goal is just untouchable but more so his general play in this match is so sublime and mesmerising there will never be a player like it not messi or anyone. This was his tournament and I’m glad we lost - we seemed scared from the beginning England just didn’t have the players to match maradonna at his peak and we were easily second best.

Seriously underestimated in the England camp, under utilised even in this brief spell. He was bought on as a scapy afterthought, after Argentina was assured the win. Makes you wonder what he might have done with at least 30 mins of play. Even when he came on the team didn't seem eager to play him in. England back then, simply wasn't ready for a player like Barnes.

I can understand why Maradona is called the best. His movements are very smooth and full of talent.. and in this match he scored 2 goals in the world cup which has always been the subject of debate to this day, which one of them is the best goal in the world cup in my opinion.
