I have made one of these and it works fantastic , I added a smoke box to the grill so I can slow smoke cook roasts, it cooks amazing mine is on wheels so I can move it around, I live in Canada and have use it in winter at minus 20 and its great we get heat from the fire and good food and our beer does not freeze.

Bruce D hats off to you mate. Here in Australia’s winter it gets down to 15 degrees Celsius, (about 60 degrees Fahrenheit) and we reckon it’s too cold to go outside to cook.

I get the idea of using coals from the side burner, but it seems an awful waste of heat. Maybe design a hood to close in the wasted heat - like an oven.

Terry Byrd In Argentinian asados you don’t want flare ups, so you weight till charcoals are gray ( brazas” ) .
