When I get a new Tacoma I wanna get one for it, but I absolutely wanna avoid drilling factory metal. So I’ve been trying to think of ways to mount it without drilling. I think for overlanding and just to have in general an Arges would be super cool to have on a Tacoma.
It’s growing on me. BUT the only thing I don’t like it’s that the NOPTIC system is not able to be used on it. WHELEN please get with NOPTIC and try to design something that can be used with it. The NOPTIC is a lifesaver, literally. I have used it in search and rescues, found vehicles that have eluded during pursuits and even found lost dogs in the middle of a desert in the middle of the night, miles away from where they ran away from. They should be a way to maybe in programming to make it so the 360* rotation is disabled, so it won’t rip out the camera wiring, and maybe design just a replaceable shell that would incorporate the NOPTIC camera. Yeah they are expensive but a if a department gets them, the payout return can be huge. That is the only reason I haven’t really looked into Arges, because I rather have a pillar mounted with the NOPTIC kit on a spotlight.
Safety and technological over everything. Drilling holes in the A pillar is not safe by IIHS. Must companies that do upgrade there fleet to "police cars" dont send those vehicles to IIHS after the modifications. Plus holes in any pillar compromise the structural integrity, most cops get injured in vehicle pursuits, either a collision with another vehicle or losing control of there own vehicle. Soooooo Arges probably will save lives.
That’s the one reason I havnt looked into them. I rather have my Unity with a Whelen bulb and the NOPTIC system for the camera. Thing has been a life saver.
I was like WTF, but that managed to be funny after all (that's something wrong with me) ... But anyways, there's no beautiful or ugly, it's just a device mounted on the car.. and it's not concurs d'elegance.. it's about features, and that's a heck of a device.. keep improving!
