Producers Grant Heslov, Ben Affleck and George Clooney winning the Oscar® for Best Picture for "Argo" at the 2013 Oscars®. For more Oscars videos visit www.oscar.com
No matter what you think of Affleck, its great to watch someone bounce back from adversity and through his speech he never forget what those people did for him
Yes... And in mid-2013 Ben filed for divorce , though Garner disagreed. Ben already started his on-off romance with Lindsay Sookus in 2013, which Garner discovered in Ben's chats, so they fought once again and secretly separated. The marital relationship already was over in 2013. And they finally announced their divorce in 2015.
Coolest part of the whole thing is Clooney doesn't say a word. He doesn't have to. He already had his moment. Now he's letting his friends have theirs.
yeah, unbelievable. does anyone still remember argo 10 years later? i don't. same can't be said about django unchained and silver linings playbook - truly fascinating stuff, unlike another generic boring war film. this oscar nomination (surely) wasn't driven by murican propaganda, yep.
there are a lot of people who don't like Ben, but he is undoubtedly a clever and talented movie guy. Actor, producer, Director, screen writer - amazing stuff
Yeah people forget Ben Affleck and Matt Damon had to FORCE their way into the movie industry by CO-writing "Good Will Hunting" And DEMANDING they play star roles in that film. And if Robin Williams didn't agree to do it, it would never be made. AND if Sylvester Stallone didn't pave the way with demanding to star in "Rocky" a film he wrote and said he had to star in for it to be put on the big screen, we would not have Ben and Matt. Shit on those two men all you want, they forced the issue, they would never be big stars without their talent and grit. They earned it. Fuck all of you who say otherwise. And go Red Socks. How you like them apples?
Not typically a big Affleck fan regarding his acting, but he is a really good screenwriter. I really liked his performance in the movie HollywoodLand and I thought he did a great job as George Reeves/Superman. HollywoodLand is a great movie and very underrated, if you have never seen it, I would highly recommend it.
"it doesnt matter how you get knocked down in life, because thats gonna happen, All that matters is you gotta get up". Fucking epic quote...this guy is amazing, and he is BATMAN.
No matter what he does, people still hate on Ben Affleck.smh. He makes mistakes and stars in bad movies and you condemn him. He turns his career around, directs three great movies in a row (a feat that nolan was praised for), wins awards and brings out good performances and you still complain? You can tell by the way his voice broke in the end that this journey was emotional for him and he deserves it.
Actually I was so disappionted with Dardevil that I refused to watch any movie involving Ben Affleck for a decade. But i watched "Argo - fuck yourself" yesterday. Now I'm looking forward to his portrayal of Batman. ...But if he fucks up it's defenetly gonna take another decade for me to recover
Clark Parker that the thing for me too - Ben has always been better behind the camera than he has been in front; he started with Good Will Hunting and won an Oscar at 26 behind the scenes as a writer...then he had some missteps as an actor...then he went back behind the camera again with Gone Baby Gone and his star Amy Ryan was Oscar nominated; The Town sees Jeremy Renner also nominated for an Oscar and then you have Argo which not only won 3 Oscars including one for Ben and another nomination for acting for Alan Arkin...so as an actor - B-/C+ but as a director - solid A
Clark Parker get off your period because it a freaking buzz kill and no1 want to be around a girl when they're on their period. Once you become a "woman' you won't let thing like this effect your or even a lady.
I don't hate him I've just not seen much of his stuff. Never saw this for instance never saw him as Batman never saw The Town or Gone Girl so personally unless I have seen a body of work I am not going to judge him his personal life is his own business too though divorce is usually sad.
@@vithank100 You don't know that. It could also be true that he loved Garner but life happened and mistakes were made, and gradually two people just fell out of love. These things happen. And he is known as someone who is determined for repeated trying, cue the synposis of the current untitled Nike film he cowrote and directs is one example.
Completely agree. I admire Ben because he's honest. Although I think he struggled for many years to be honest with himself because he was so desperate for everyone's approval and acceptance. He's made plenty of mistakes and he's the first person to admit that, but he's also clearly trying to be the best version of himself and that began with his love for his children. I also admire him for having the guts to fight for someone he's loved for 20 years. Everyone deserves to be happy.
@@sinogarconyou’re right Ben is known for repeated trying but if he really wanted to get back with jgarner he would’ve a long time ago . Because of the children he did try several times to save his marriage it doesn’t work . Obviously instead he did the pursuing on Jennifer Lopez
+Margaret H Yep thats bullshit. Ang lee should not have been nominated and in his place he should have been Ben Affleck. Quentin Tarantino should have also been nominated for Django Unchained also
Fun little story about that, actually. The Academy members get two votes, one for something they are passionate for and one for a film they think is a shoe in. Everyone there thought that Ben Affleck was a shoe in, so they didn't vote for him and cast both their votes to others, thinking that somebody else was bound to vote for Affleck. So, a mistake like that cost him his Directing Oscar, but at least he got this one to make up for it.
He probably will. After the Snyder cut and hbo max wanting ben to return, I wouldn't be surprised if he's movie actually gets the green light. It'll be awesome!
@@aseem2985 The Snyder Cut was a success The servers were crashing on HBO MAX so that's great to know Hopefully Batfleck gets a larger role in Flashpoint and an extended role in the DCEU
Can we give a shout-out to George Clooney too? Dude was a total class act here: one of the winners and definitely one of Hollywood's biggest names, but he knew that was Grant (his producing partner, who was winning his first Oscar) and Ben's (producer and snubbed director of the film) moment, and was content to stay in the sidelines and let them speak instead.
he won for direction the BAFTA,Golden Globes,Critics´s Choice awards and Directions Guilds Awards and guess what ? not even a oscar nomitation for director ? probably one of the biggest and most impundent snubs of history by the academy.
He cheated on his wife and then tried to blame HER for his alcoholism/substance abuse AFTER achieving sobriety...not really THAT great of a man...and blaming others for your addictions means you're not accepting responsibility and will relapse. You hope for the best...but I'd be planning for the worst.
He said something along the lines of why do we fall, to learn to pick ourselves back up. This guy was dropping Batman references before knowing he was gonna play Batman, crazy. And a previous Batman is up there with him AAAND the joker presented him, coincidence? I think not
+Giorgi Tsurtsumia "It doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life, because thats gonna happen. All that matters is that you gotta get up" Amazing quote
Before Ben Affleck was hired to play Batman, he won an Oscar as a producer for Best Picture the same year. Before Jared Leto was hired to do play the Joker, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor the same year.
EddieMachetti actually if we’re considering the facts Jack Nicholson won an Oscar and then heath ledger won an Oscar for the Dark Knight but is was posthumous and then Jared Leto won one for Dallas Buyers Club then Joaquin Phoenix won one for Joker this past week
+Luke McGowan I have no idea why he was passed on for Director. Ben Affleck may not be the best actor alive, sure. But he is one HELL of a F***ing Director! The shots, the cinematography, the Scope of his visuals ALL scream talent for Directing. AND he tends to be good in the films He himself directs.
Your username... your profile picture... I don't think I could've laughed longer or harder... You had more chance of being a genius than Einstein had, yet you've used it all up here. I do have a nice day now tho because of it :D
Whenever I feel down, I always watch this speech. It always makes me feel better because it's so inspiring and you can tell how grateful Affleck is for receiving the award. He seems like a really good guy.
Hè is the nicest, intelligent, charming, friendly and wellspoken moviestar and producer ever!!! Sir Benjamin Géza Affleck is to wellknown, handsome and kindfull that's why so much jelousy around him!!!!
I do not understand why so much hate Ben Affleck, this video is not a simple video but is proof that anything can be done. Look at his face, he is happy and excited, he succeeded in his dream and you criticizing not conclude anything, is a talented guy, and it's a winner, you just failed. (Sorry for my English but I'm Italian and I'm 15 years old)
Loved how Affleck had to announce the Best Director this year. He just looked like he wanted to get it over with. I still can't get over how he was snubbed...
I love Ben Affleck. He's so likable, you know what i mean? i don't get why people hate on him. maybe he's not the best actor but he's ok. there are worst actors than him and everyone loves them. and acting is not what he is getting awards for. annnd i love how his voice cracks at the end. he's so moved. and him and his wife are adorable. and i was hoping he would thank Matt Damon :P.
I don't get it either. Ben is a very talented person, infront and behind the camera. His acting career was a bit rocky at first, but he worked hard and turned it around. He's a great director, and has done nothing but good performances as an actor since The Town. He was really good in The Town and Argo, and excellent in Gone Girl. Haters can go fuck themselves.
Terrific speech - and especially because you could tell it was truly from the heart! He was honest, humble, and appreciative of everyone who's helped him - and his work on Argo speaks for itself-
I absolutely loved Ben's speech. He stuttered and sped through it. Just so genuine and maybe one of my favorites. You just know it really means a lot of him. And even though he's such a big name, he still feels like we all would if we were up there. Just perfect. Hope he has the chance to get up there again. (And Damon deserves to be back up there as well)
I had faith in Ben Affleck directing the Batman movie because of his amazing performance in BvS. I just finished Argo (I watched it to have a look at his work as a director), and it was awesome, and well-directed. I have faith in Ben Affleck #FaithInBatfleck
doubtful since the academy doesnt take superhero movies seriously. The Dark Knight being the rare exception, and even that movie didn't get as many award nods as it deserved. But who knows? Ben Affleck DOES have a best picture under his belt and it sounds like his new movie Live By Night will be another contender . Can't say the same for Chris Nolan despite how popular his movies are.
"It doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life. It's gonna happen. All that matters is that you have to get up." Thank you, Ben Affleck for those words of wisdom.
cristian trujillo Cranston could be anything he wants to be. He did the iPad Air commercial and even made IT sound like a decent product, instead of more obscenely overpriced nonsense.
Public/popular opinion pisses me off!! Ben Affleck is an amazing actor/director/man period as far as I'm concerned. Likewise as I'm concerned: He's going to fucking kill it as Batman. He has so much love and respect for the industry and inspite of all the backlash and mindless hate from "fanboys" and normal people pretending to understand "DA FaQ's Going on?" still promises to poor his mind, body and soul into the role of the caped crusader like no one ever has EVER. He takes it so seriously he even goes as far as to compare Batman and other superheros alike to Greek Gods! Thats how high his reverence is for your Batman and how much responsibility he feels he has to do the character justice. #JusticeLeagueBitch!! #BatfleckBeBallin!! #ConcradulationsBatman!!
I love Ben Affleck. He does seem like a genuine guy. He may not be the greatest actor (not saying that he isn't, he's a very fine one), but he is an amazing writer and producer. What I love most about him, is his passion towards his projects. You can see how much he really cares about Batman and the DCEU and everything else he does. Unlike a lot of the Hollywood actors who portray superheroes, Ben does actually love and care about his character portrayals and what not and genuinely cares what the fans think. I will always be Marvel, through and though, Comics & films, but f*ck, I cannot wait for The Batman. This film could be one of the best superhero films EVER. This has a big chance to surpass Nolan's films, in the sense of filmmaking & writing, as well as the superhero/batman element (most likely). I hope Ben has full control of this film, and DC & Warner don't try to control everything.
TheSchoolOfPotatoes yea you can tell he doesn't want to screw up the batman movie waiting for the right script before starting production of the movie as he did say batman is a movie is not a type of movie you can silently fail at
Tamara N The divorce with Jennifer Garner, and his blackjack addiction. But now he and Jennifer are together again. So now the things are starting becoming good again for Affleck ^^
How? The dialogues sounded they were written by a grade school kid, Jessica's acting was not good at all you just cannot feel sorry or love her, the movie kept jumping time pretty bad writing there, not to mention plot was weak I understand its a Bin Laden man hunt but man try to make a nice story of it, Argo made a nice story of a real life event, it was cliche too, cinematography was so mediocre. The only good thing about the movie was the raid at the end, in real life the raid was 22 mins, movie it was 24, and the details of the raid were pretty close to the actual events.
Well sorry you dont know a good movie when you see one.... The entire thing was acted above and beyond most military movies (Katheryn Bigelow directed it, for heavens sake!), and its a different style of military filmmaking. You, sir, have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Sorry buddy. the editing was top notch, the buildup in the battle sequence was PERFECTLY performed and the story was pretty good for not having all the information available to film makers.
Jessica was just some annoying brat in the film, and again the dialogue is just crap. The only good acting in the film was Mark Strong and that guy with long hair looking for Bin Laden (he was in the jeep in the market tracking the other car, forgot his name) Sorry you have no idea what you're talking about, if I compare that to other military films (Hurt Locker, Jarhead, Green Zone [which was okay]) ZDT doesn't deserve anythign, it was all over hyped because its a "story" of how they tracked Bin Laden. I'll give you the build up to the battle sequence but rest was just bad and bad. Why bother makign a story if you don't have any facts about the real event?
right about 4:42: the tall guy coming up on the stage from the left is one of my favorite people in the whole world. Alexandre Desplat, who did the musical score for Argo. He went on several years later to be nominated for Best Musical Score twice in one year: for The Grand Budapest Hotel and (the hauntingly gorgeous) Imitation Game. He won the Oscar for the former. Yes I'm a huge fangirl of anybody who writes musical scores, and especially this guy
Because their marriage was a JOB and it didn't work, and Ben was already about to separate from Garner, and he felt sorry at that time for separating from the children.
I feel bad that I actually laughed the whole minute of Ben's speech with his stuttering and nervousness but I don't blame him! It's either from excitement or uneasiness. His speech however was overall a wonderful speech. I couldn't help but feeling very uncomfortable watching him being that way since I feel the same being As the centre of attention. He must feel very uncomfortable being on stage and pressured but I applaud him for being an amazing director (from what I heard) and am looking forward to give Argo a watch soon! I am so RELIEVED that he's be directing the solo movie of Batman, he is perfect!
How can he not win the best director award. I mean when i was watching Argo, I legit was terrified within the first 30 mins and was at the edge of my seat for the most part of the movie. I never experienced that in any movie , that was so intricately directed.
