When my 103 year old grandmother passed, I found a bunch of old slides, a projector, and an Argus PreViewer. The previewer would come in handy for deciding which slides to scan. But it used 2 C cell batteries that were horribly corroded. I decided I wanted to ditch the batteries, so I changed from a 3v to a 6v bulb and soldered a USB power cord to the contacts. Now I can plug it into the wall or my computer.

I have the Argus PreViewer, please show or tell me how to remove the insides so I can change the bulb, I don't have the instruction manual - thank you

How did you rig it? Is It just the body? Or does it need wires? Because I have one and just found it in our basement cleaning

Very cool! If you watch the first 10 seconds, you'll see where the USB wire comes through and I soldered it onto the brass contacts. That's really all you need. To be clear, the USB cable is for power only. It can't talk to the computer. But it is a great way to preview slides!

I accidentally touched the thumbs down symbol, sorry. I did like your video.

Hey Mary Ann! No problem at all. If you click the thumbs down symbol one more time, it will take it away.
