The record run in 88 was ran with a snow blizzard across the top of the hill, so half the track was essentially wet and slushy, so the record time would of been alot lower if track was dry. In 89 Vatanen was up on hes record run by over 10 seconds but ripped the rear left wheel off after sliding wide and hitting a rock. Robby Unser won that year in the 2nd 405 but ran a time slighlty slower than the 88 record run(dry track in 89.)
2nd 405 is also the one that won the 88 run aka the 'golden' 405 Pikes Peak (in Peugeot's museum). There was a number '3' but I'm fairly certain the '3rd' car is this same car (driven by Juha Kankkunen - same year as Vatanen's win prior to Robby Unser). I remember Peugeot running three 205's on Pikes Peak but two were dismantled and parts used on the two 405's. The third 205 went onto winning the French Rally Cross, but was stolen prior to it going to a museum after winning a couple of seasons!
Ciao Matteo, ricordo di aver visto la 405 al Motor Show del 1988, come esibizione tra le varie batterie del Memorial Bettega. Si sfidavano con la 205 T16 di Zanussi. La Pioneer era sponsor nella area 48, e aveva invitato queste due vetture. Grazie ciao 👍🏁🇮🇹

@@Italiansupercarvideo Si Matteo, il video l'ho visto, c'è. Ero andato per ben due volte quell'anno. In un feriale si correva il Rallycross con i campioni del campionato Europeo sulle Gr. B, e ricordo ancora adesso le cannonate che tirava in staccata la Metro 6R4 di Will Gollop. Era bi turbo con quasi 700 HP. L'antagonista era Martin Schanche con la Ford RS 200, mentre Alessandrini con la S4 non poteva competere ad armi pari perché mancava di una preparazione specifica per il RX
