The ending could mean that all this narrative about her “taking” her current boyfriend from his ex-wife is false, because you cannot take or poison someone into wanting to be with you if THEY don’t want to be with you as it is. So it was just a pure chemistry and not “stealing” or “poisoning”.

Overall there are many misconceptions I feel are directed about Ariana & her now partner's character, their relationship and how they came about. Some understandably so to outside parties(fans, etc.) looking and coming from a genuine place of concern to them. It's important to be respectful as these are their lives and the public really can't know anything about what goes on inside, only what's shown from them & assumptions. To note you can only really take their word on what they choose to share. His former wife & him were likely estranged for a while given how long they were together for. I don't think Ariana would be/want someone who leaves a relationship on a whim or shows disconcern(trivial) for their former partners nor does she.The song itself is about them finally being together happy & openly after tough decisions were made. While expressing concern for those involved(a divorce isn't easy for both husband/wife that genuinely loved each other or kids used to them being together) and to herself also as she isn't disconcerned of all those feelings. I hope that they can find happiness in their own lives(even with other people) & happy for Ariana finding new love after her own divorce with Dalton.
